 8:1 ¶
Then Baldad the Sauchite answered, and said, |
|
 8:1 ¶
Then answeredºº
Bildadº
the Shuhite,º
and said,ºº |
 8:2
How long wilt thou speak these things, [how long shall] the breath of thy mouth [be] abundant in words? |
 8:2
Howº
longºº
wilt thou speakºº
theseº
[things]? and [how long shall] the wordsº
of thy mouthº
[be like] a strongº
wind?º |
 8:3
Will the Lord be unjust when he judges; or will he that has made all things pervert justice? |
 8:3
Doth Elº
pervertºº
judgment?º
orº
doth Shaddaiº
pervertºº
justice?º |
 8:4
If thy sons have sinned before him, he has cast them away because of their transgression. |
 8:4
Ifº
thy childrenº
have sinnedºº
against him, and he have cast them awayºº
forº
their transgression;º |
 8:5
But be thou early in prayer to the Lord Almighty. |
 8:5
Ifº
thouº
wouldest seekºº
unto Elº
betimes,ºººº
and make thy supplicationºº
toº
Shaddai;º |
 8:6
If thou art pure and true, he will hearken to thy supplication, and will restore to thee the habitation of righteousness. |
 8:6
Ifº
thouº
[wert] pureº
and upright;º
surelyº
nowº
he would awakeºº
forº
thee, and make the habitationº
of thy righteousnessº
prosperous.ºº |
 8:7
Though then thy beginning should be small, yet thy end should be unspeakably great. |
 8:7
Though thy beginningº
wasº
small,º
yet thy latter endº
should greatlyº
increase.ºº |
 8:8
For ask of the former generation, and search diligently among the race of [our] fathers: |
 8:8
Forº
enquire,ºº
I pray thee,º
of the formerºº
age,º
and prepareºº
thyself to the searchº
of their fathers:º |
 8:9
(for we are of yesterday, and know nothing; for our life upon the earth is a shadow:) |
 8:9
(Forº
weº
[are but of] yesterday,º
and knowºº
nothing,º
becauseº
our daysº
uponº
earthº
[are] a shadow:)º |
 8:10
shall not these teach thee, and report [to thee], and bring out words from [their] heart? |
 8:10
Shall notº
theyº
teachºº
thee, [and] tellºº
thee, and utterºº
wordsº
out of their heart?ºº |
 8:11
Does the rush flourish without water, or shall the flag grow up without moisture? |
 8:11
Can the rushº
grow upºº
withoutº
mire?º
canºº
the flagº
growºº
withoutº
water?º |
 8:12
When it is yet on the root, and [though] it has not been cut down, does not any herb wither before it has received moisture? |
 8:12
Whilst it [is] yetº
in his greenness,º
[and] notº
cut down,ºº
it witherethºº
beforeº
anyº
[other] herb.º |
 8:13
Thus then shall be the end of all that forget the Lord: for the hope of the ungodly shall perish. |
 8:13
Soº
[are] the pathsº
of allº
that forgetºº
El;º
and the hypocrite'sº
hopeº
shall perish:ºº |
 8:14
For his house shall be without inhabitants, and his tent shall prove a spider's web. |
 8:14
Whoseº
hopeº
shall be cut off,ºº
and whose trustº
[shall be] a spider'sº
web.º |
 8:15
If he should prop up his house, it shall not stand: and when he has taken hold of it, it shall not remain. |
 8:15
He shall leanºº
uponº
his house,º
but it shall notº
stand:ºº
he shall holdºº
it fast,º
but it shall notº
endure.ºº |
 8:16
For it is moist under the sun, and his branch shall come forth out of his dung-heap. |
 8:16
Heº
[is] greenº
beforeº
the sun,º
and his branchº
shooteth forthºº
inº
his garden.º |
 8:17
He lies down upon a gathering of stones, and shall live in the mist of flints. |
 8:17
His rootsº
are wrappedº
aboutººº
the heap,º
[and] seethºº
the placeº
of stones.º |
 8:18
If [God] should destroy [him], his place shall deny him. Hast thou not seen such things, |
 8:18
Ifº
he destroyºº
him from his place,ºº
then [it] shall denyºº
him, [saying], I have notº
seenºº
thee. |
 8:19
that such is the overthrow of the ungodly? and out of the earth another shall grow. |
 8:19
Behold,º
thisº
[is] the joyº
of his way,º
and out of the earthºº
shall othersº
grow.ºº |
 8:20
For the Lord will by no means reject the harmless man; but he will not receive any gift of the ungodly. |
 8:20
Behold,º
Elº
will notº
cast awayºº
a perfectº
[man], neitherº
will he helpººº
the evil doers:ºº |
 8:21
But he will fill with laughter the mouth of the sincere, and their lips with thanksgiving. |
 8:21
Tillº
he fillºº
thy mouthº
with laughing,º
and thy lipsº
with rejoicing.º |
 8:22
But their adversaries shall clothe themselves with shame; and the habitation of the ungodly shall perish. |
 8:22
They that hateºº
thee shall be clothedºº
with shame;º
and the dwellingº
placeº
of the wickedº
shall come to nought.º |
