 34:1 ¶
And Elihu{gr.Elius} continued, and said, |
|
 34:1 ¶
Furthermore Elihuº
answeredºº
and said,ºº |
 34:2
Hear me, ye wise men; hearken, ye that have knowledge. |
 34:2
Hearºº
my words,º
O ye wiseº
[men]; and give earºº
unto me, ye that have knowledge.ºº |
 34:3
For the ear tries words, and the mouth tastes meat. |
 34:3
Forº
the earº
triethºº
words,º
as the mouthº
tastethºº
meat.ºº |
 34:4
Let us choose judgment to ourselves: let us know amount ourselves what is right. |
 34:4
Let us chooseºº
to us judgment:º
let us knowºº
amongº
ourselves whatº
[is] good.º |
 34:5
For Job has said, I am righteous: the Lord has removed my judgment. |
 34:5
Forº
Jobº
hath said,ºº
I am righteous:ºº
and Elº
hath taken awayºº
my judgment.º |
 34:6
And he has erred in my judgment: my wound is severe without unrighteousness [of mine]. |
 34:6
Should I lieºº
againstº
my right?º
my woundº
[is] incurableºº
withoutº
transgression.º |
 34:7
What man is as Job, drinking scorning like water? |
 34:7
Whatº
manº
[is] like Job,º
[who] drinketh upºº
scorningº
like water?º |
 34:8
[saying], I have not sinned, nor committed ungodliness, nor had fellowship with workers of iniquity, to go with the ungodly. |
 34:8
Which goethºº
in companyº
withº
the workersºº
of iniquity,º
and walkethººº
withº
wickedº
men.ºº |
 34:9
For thou shouldest not say, There shall be no visitation of a man, whereas [there is] a visitation on him from the Lord. |
 34:9
Forº
he hath said,ºº
It profitethºº
a manº
nothingº
that he should delightºº
himself withº
Elohim.º |
 34:10
Wherefore hear me, ye that are wise in heart: far be it from me to sin before the Lord, and to pervert righteousness before the almighty. |
 34:10
Thereforeº
hearkenºº
unto me, ye menºº
of understanding:º
far be itº
from El,º
[that he should do] wickedness;ºº
and [from] Shaddai,º
[that he should commit] iniquity.ºº |
 34:11
Yea, he renders to a man accordingly as each of them does, and in a man's path he will find him. |
 34:11
Forº
the workº
of a manº
shall he renderºº
unto him, and cause every manº
to findºº
according to [his] ways.º |
 34:12
And thinkest thou that the Lord will do wrong, or will the Almighty who made the earth wrest judgment? |
 34:12
Yea,º
surelyº
Elº
will notº
do wickedly,ºº
neitherº
will Shaddaiº
pervertºº
judgment.º |
 34:13
And who is he that made [the whole world] under heaven, and all things therein? |
 34:13
Whoº
hath given him a chargeººº
over the earth?º
or whoº
hath disposedºº
the wholeº
world?º |
 34:14
For if he would confine, and restrain his spirit with himself; |
 34:14
Ifº
he setºº
his heartº
uponº
man, [if] he gatherºº
untoº
himself his spiritº
and his breath;º |
 34:15
all flesh would die together, and every mortal would return to the earth, whence also he was formed. |
 34:15
Allº
fleshº
shall perishºº
together,º
and manº
shall turn againºº
untoº
dust.º |
 34:16
Take heed lest he rebuke [thee]: hear this, hearken to the voice of words. |
 34:16
Ifº
now [thou hast] understanding,º
hearºº
this:º
hearkenºº
to the voiceº
of my words.º |
 34:17
Behold then the one that hates iniquities, and that destroys the wicked, who is for ever just. |
 34:17
Shall evenº
he that hatethºº
rightº
govern?ºº
and wilt thou condemnºº
him that is mostº
just?º |
 34:18
[He is] ungodly that says to a king, Thou art a transgressor, [that says] to princes, O most ungodly one. |
 34:18
[Is it fit] to sayºº
to a king,º
[Thou art] wicked?º
[and] toº
princes,º
[Ye are] ungodly?º |
 34:19
[Such a one] as would not reverence the face of an honourable man, neither knows how to give honour to the great, so as that their persons should be respected. |
 34:19
[How much less to him] thatº
acceptethºº
notº
the personsº
of princes,º
norº
regardethºº
the richº
more thanº
the poor?º
forº
they allº
[are] the workº
of his hands.º |
 34:20
But it shall turn out vanity to them, to cry and beseech a man; for they dealt unlawfully, the poor being turned aside [from their right]. |
 34:20
In a momentº
shall they die,ºº
and the peopleº
shall be troubledºº
at midnight,ºº
and pass away:ºº
and the mightyº
shall be taken awayºº
withoutº
hand.º |
 34:21
For he surveys the works of men, and nothing of what they do has escaped him. |
 34:21
Forº
his eyesº
[are] uponº
the waysº
of man,º
and he seethºº
allº
his goings.º |
 34:22
Neither shall there be a place for the workers of iniquity to hide themselves. |
 34:22
[There is] noº
darkness,º
norº
shadow of death,º
whereº
the workersºº
of iniquityº
may hideºº
themselves.º |
 34:23
For he will not lay upon a man more [than right]. |
 34:23
Forº
he will notº
layºº
uponº
manº
moreº
[than right]; that he should enterºº
into judgmentº
withº
El.º |
 34:24
For the Lord looks down upon all men, who comprehends unsearchable things, glorious also and excellent things without number. |
 34:24
He shall break in piecesºº
mighty menº
withoutº
number,º
and setºº
othersº
in their stead.º |
 34:25
Who discovers their works, and will bring night about [upon them], and they shall be brought low. |
 34:25
Thereforeº
he knowethºº
their works,º
and he overturnethºº
[them] in the night,º
so that they are destroyed.ºº |
 34:26
And he quite destroys the ungodly, for they are seen before him. |
 34:26
He strikethºº
them asº
wicked menº
in the openº
sightºº
of others; |
 34:27
Because they turned aside from the law of God, and did not regard his ordinances, |
 34:27
Becauseººº
they turned backºº
fromºº
him,º
and would notº
considerºº
anyº
of his ways:º |
 34:28
so as to bring before him the cry of the needy; for he will hear the cry of the poor. |
 34:28
So that they cause the cryº
of the poorº
to comeºº
untoº
him, and he hearethºº
the cryº
of the afflicted.º |
 34:29
And he will give quiet, and who will condemn? and he will hide his face, and who shall see him? whether [it be done] against a nation, or against a man also: |
 34:29
When heº
giveth quietness,ºº
whoº
then can make trouble?ºº
and when he hidethºº
[his] face,º
whoº
then can beholdºº
him? whether [it be done] againstº
a nation,º
or againstº
a manº
only:º |
 34:30
causing a hypocrite to be king, because of the waywardness of the people. |
 34:30
That the hypocriteºº
reignºº
not,ºº
lest the peopleº
be ensnared.ºº |
 34:31
For [there is] one that says to the Mighty One, I have received [blessings]; I will not take a pledge: |
 34:31
Surely it is meetº
to be saidºº
untoº
El,º
I have borneºº
[chastisement], I will notº
offendºº
[any more]: |
 34:32
I will see apart from myself: do thou shew me if I have done unrighteousness; I will not do [so] any more. |
 34:32
[That which] I seeºº
notº
teachºº
thouº
me: ifº
I have doneºº
iniquity,º
I will doºº
noº
more. |
 34:33
Will he take vengeance for it on thee, whereas thou wilt put [it] far [from thee]? for thou shalt choose, and not I; and what thou knowest, speak thou. |
 34:33
[Should it be] according to thy mind?ºº
he will recompenseºº
it, whetherº
thou refuse,ººº
or whetherº
thouº
choose;ºº
and notº
I:º
therefore speakºº
whatº
thou knowest.ºº |
 34:34
Because the wise in heart shall say this, and a wise man listens to my word. |
 34:34
Let menºº
of understandingº
tellºº
me, and let a wiseº
manº
hearkenºº
unto me. |
 34:35
But Job has not spoken with understanding, his words are not [uttered] with knowledge. |
 34:35
Jobº
hath spokenºº
withoutº
knowledge,º
and his wordsº
[were] withoutº
wisdom.ºº |
 34:36
Howbeit do thou learn, Job: no longer make answer as the foolish: |
 34:36
My desireººº
[is that] Jobº
may be triedºº
untoº
the endº
becauseº
of [his] answersº
for wickedº
men.ºº |
 34:37
that we add not to our sins: for iniquity will be reckoned against us, if [we] speak many words before the Lord. |
 34:37
Forº
he addethºº
rebellionº
untoº
his sin,º
he clappethºº
[his hands] amongº
us, and multipliethºº
his wordsº
against El.º |
