Then Job answered and said, |

How long will ye vex my soul, and destroy me with words? only know that the Lord has dealt with me thus. |

my soul,º
and breakºº
me in piecesº
with words?º |

19:3
Ye speak against me; ye do not feel for me, but bear hard upon me. |
19:3
Theseº
tenº
timesº
have ye reproachedºº
me: ye are notº
ashamedºº
[that] ye make yourselves strangeºº
to me. |
|
19:4
Yea verily, I have erred in truth, (but the error abides with myself) in having spoken words which it was not right [to speak]; and my words err, and are unreasonable. |

Andº
be it indeedº
[that] I have erred,ºº
mine errorº
remainethºº
withº
myself. |
|
19:5
But alas! for ye magnify yourselves against me, and insult me with reproach. |
19:5
Ifº
indeedº
ye will magnifyºº
[yourselves] againstº
me, and pleadºº
againstº
me my reproach:º |
|
19:6
Know then that it is the Lord that has troubled [me], and has raised his bulwark against me. |
19:6

thatº
Eloahº
hath overthrownºº
me, and hath compassedººº
me with his net.ºº |
|
19:7
Behold, I laugh at reproach; I will not speak: [or] I will cry out, but [there is] nowhere judgment. |
19:7
Behold,º
I cry outºº
of wrong,º
but I am notº
heard:ºº
I cry aloud,ºº
but [there is] noº
judgment.º |
|
19:8
I am fenced round about, and can by no means escape: he has set darkness before my face. |
19:8
He hath fenced upºº
my wayº
that I cannotº
pass,ºº
and he hath setºº
darknessº
inº
my paths.º |
|
19:9
And he has stripped me of my glory, and has taken the crown from my head. |
19:9
He hath strippedºº
me ofººº
my glory,º
and takenºº
the crownº
[from] my head.º |
|
19:10
He has torn me around about, and I am gone: and he has cut off my hope like a tree. |
19:10
He hath destroyedºº
me on every side,º
and I am gone:ººº
and mine hopeº
hath he removedºº
like a tree.º |
|
19:11
And he has dreadfully handled me in anger, and has counted me for an enemy. |
19:11
He hath also kindledºº
his wrathº
againstº
me, and he countethºº
me unto him as [one of] his enemies.º |
|
19:12
His troops also came upon me with one accord, liars in wait compassed my ways. |
19:12
His troopsº
comeºº
together,º
and raise upºº
their wayº
againstº
me, and encampºº
round aboutº
my tabernacle.º |
|
19:13
My brethren have stood aloof from me; they have recognized strangers [rather] than me: and my friends have become pitiless. |
19:13
He hath putºº
my brethrenº
farººº
fromºº
me, and mine acquaintanceºº
are verilyº
estrangedºº
fromº
me. |
|
19:14
My nearest of kin have not acknowledged me, and they that knew my name, have forgotten me. |
19:14
My kinsfolkº
have failed,ºº
and my familiar friendsºº
have forgottenºº
me. |
|
19:15
[As for] my household, and my maid-servants, I was a stranger before them. |
19:15
They that dwellºº
in mine house,º
and my maids,º
countºº
me for a stranger:ºº
I amº
an alienº
in their sight.º |
|
19:16
I called my servant, and he hearkened not; and my mouth intreated [him]. |
19:16
I calledºº
my servant,º
and he gave [me] noº
answer;ºº
I intreatedºº
him withº
my mouth.º |
|
19:17
And I besought my wife, and earnestly intreated the sons of my concubines. |
19:17
My breathº
is strangeºº
to my wife,º
though I intreatedººº
for the children'sº
[sake] of mine own body.º |
|
19:18
But they rejected me for ever; whenever I rise up, they speak against me. |
19:18
Yea,º
young childrenº
despisedºº
me; I arose,ºº
and they spakeºº
against me. |
|
19:19
They that saw me abhorred me: the very persons whom I had loved, rose up against me. |
19:19
Allº
my inwardº
friendsº
abhorredºº
me: and they whomº
I lovedºº
are turnedºº
against me. |
|
19:20
My flesh is corrupt under my skin, and my bones are held in [my] teeth. |
19:20
My boneº
cleavethºº
to my skinº
and to my flesh,º
and I am escapedºº
with the skinº
of my teeth.º |

19:21
Pity me, pity me, O friends; for it is the hand of the Lord that has touched me. |
19:21
Have pityºº
uponº
me, have pityºº
uponº
me, O yeº
my friends;º
forº
the handº
of Eloahº
hath touchedºº
me. |

19:22
Wherefore do ye persecute me as also the Lord [does], and are not satisfied with my flesh? |
19:22
Whyº
do ye persecuteºº
me asº
El,º
and are notº
satisfiedºº
with my flesh?ºº |

19:23
For oh that my words were written, and that they were recorded in a book forever, |
19:23
Oh thatººº
my wordsº
wereº
nowº
written!ºº
oh thatººº
they wereº
printedºº
in a book!º |

19:24
with an iron pen and lead, or graven in the rocks! |
19:24
That they were gravenºº
with an ironº
penº
and leadº
in the rockº
for ever!º |

19:25
For I know that he is eternal who is about to deliver me, |
19:25
For Iº
knowºº
[that] my redeemerºº
liveth,º
and [that] he shall standºº
at the latterº
[day] uponº
the earth:º |
|
19:26
[and] to raise up upon the earth my skin that endures these [sufferings]: for these things have been accomplished to me of the Lord; |
19:26
And [though] afterº
my skinº
[worms] destroyºº
thisº
[body], yet in my fleshºº
shall I seeºº

19:27
which I am conscious of in myself, which mine eye has seen, and not another, but all have been fulfilled to me in [my] bosom. |
19:27
Whomº
Iº
shall seeºº
for myself, and mine eyesº
shall behold,ºº
and notº
another;ºº
[though] my reinsº
be consumedºº
withinº
me. |

But if ye shall also say, What shall we say before him, and [so] find the root of the matter in him? |
19:28
Butº
ye should say,ºº
Whyº
persecuteºº
we him, seeing the rootº
of the matterº
is foundºº
in me? |
|
19:29
Do ye also beware of deceit: for wrath will come upon transgressors; and then shall they know where their substance is. |
19:29
Be ye afraidºº
ofºº
the sword:º
forº
wrathº
[bringeth] the punishmentsº
ofº
the sword,º
thatº
ye may knowºº
[there is] a judgment.ººº |
