 7:1 ¶ AND there gathered to him Pharishee and Sophree, who had come from Urishlem;

 7:1 And there gathered about him Pharisees and Scribes, who had come from Jerusalem.

 7:2 and they saw some of his disciples eating bread with their hands not washed; and they complained.

 7:2 And they saw some of his disciples eating bread, with their hands unwashed; and they censured it.

 7:3 For all the Jihudoyee and Pharishee, unless they carefully wash their hands, do not eat, because they hold the tradition of the elders;

 7:3 For all the Jews and the Pharisees, unless they carefully wash their hands do not eat; because they hold fast the tradition of the Elders.

 7:4 and (coming) from the market, unless they lave, they eat not. And many other of those (things) there are which they have received to observe, (as) the baptisms of cups, and of measures, and of brasen utensils, and of beds.

 7:4 And [coming] from the market-place, except they baptize, they do not eat. And there are many other things which they have received to observe, [such as] the baptisms of cups, and of pots, and of brazen vessels, and of couches.

 7:5 And the Sophree and Pharishee questioned him, Why do not your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders; but, while their hands are not washed, eat bread?

 7:5 And the Scribes and Pharisees asked him: Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the Elders, but eat bread with their hands unwashed?

 7:6 But he said to them, Well prophesied concerning you Eshaia the prophet, you hypocrites; as it is written, This people with their lips honour me, but their heart is very far from me.

 7:6 And he said to them: Well did Isaiah the prophet prophecy concerning you, ye hypocrites; as it is written: This people honoreth me with its lips, but their heart is very far from me.

 7:7 But in vain do they reverence me while they teach the teachings of the commandments of men.

 7:7 And in vain do they give me reverence, while teaching as doctrines the precepts of men.

 7:8 For you have abandoned the commandment of God and hold the tradition of men, as the baptisms of cups and measures, and many things like these.

 7:8 For ye have forsaken the commandment of God, and hold fast the tradition of men, the baptisms of cups, and of pots, and many things like these.

 7:9 He said to them (moreover), You decently suppress the commandment of God, that you may establish your tradition.

 7:10 For Musha hath said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and whosoever curseth father and mother, the death he shall die.

 7:10 For Moses said: Honor thy father and thy mother; and whoever shall revile his father or his mother, shall surely die.

 7:11 But you say, If a man shall say to his father, or to his mother, My oblation, (be that) whatever from me thou mayest profit;

 7:11 But ye say: If a man say to his father or to his mother, Be it my oblation, whatever thou mayest gain from me:

 7:12 and you permit him not to do any thing for his father and his mother.

 7:12 then ye suffer him not to do any thing for his father or his mother.

 7:13 But you reject the word of Aloha for the sake of the tradition which you have delivered: and many similar (observances) to these you practise.

 7:13 And ye reject the word of God, on account of the tradition which ye hand down. And many things like these, ye do.

 7:14 And Jeshu called the whole multitude, and said to them, Hear me, all of you, and understand:

 7:15 It is not that which is without the man, and which entereth into him, that can defile him: but that which proceedeth from him, that defileth a man.

 7:15 There is nothing without a man which, by entering him, can pollute him. But that which cometh out of him, that it is that polluteth a man.

 7:16 He who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

 7:17 But when Jeshu had gone into the house (apart) from the multitude, his disciples asked him concerning that parable.

 7:18 He said to them, How dull are even you! Know you not, that nothing from without that entereth a man can defile him,

 7:18 And he said to them: Are ye likewise so undiscerning? Do ye not know, that whatever from without entereth into a man, cannot defile him?

 7:19 because it entereth not into his heart, but into his belly, and is cast out in the purgation which all food purgeth?

 7:19 For it doth not enter into his heart, but into his belly, and is thrown into the digestive process, which carries off all that is eaten.

 7:20 But that which proceedeth from a man, that polluteth a man.

 7:21 For from within, from the heart of the sons of men, go forth evil thoughts, adultery, fornication,

 7:22 robbery, murder, rapacity, malice, fraud, obscenity, an evil eye, blasphemy, vain-glory, folly;

 7:23 all these evils come from within, and they defile a man.

 7:24 ¶ FROM thence Jeshu arose and went to the confine of Tsur and of Tsaidon, and entered into a certain house: and he was unwilling that any man should know of him, but he could not conceal.

 7:24 Thence Jesus arose, and went to the border of Tyre and Sidon. And he entered a house, and wished no man to know him; but he could not be concealed.

 7:25 For immediately heard a certain woman concerning him, whose daughter had an unclean spirit; and she came, (and) fell before his feet.

 7:25 For immediately a woman, whose daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him; and she came, and fell before his feet,

 7:26 But that woman was a Gentile of Phuniki of Suria, and she prayed of him to cast out the demon from her daughter.

 7:26 (the woman was a Gentile from Phenicia of Syria), and besought him, that he would expel the demon from her daughter.

 7:27 But Jeshu said to her, Let the children first be filled; for it is not well to take the bread of the children and cast it to the dogs.

 7:27 Jesus said to her: Permit the children first to be satisfied; for it is not becoming, to take the children's bread and cast it to dogs.

 7:28 But she answering said to him, Yes, my Lord, yet the dogs also from beneath the table eat the crumbs of the children.

 7:28 And she replied, and said to him: Yes, my Lord: and yet the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs.

 7:29 Jeshu saith to her, Go; on account of that word, the demon hath gone forth from thy daughter.

 7:29 Jesus said to her: Go thou; because of this speech, the demon hath departed from thy daughter.

 7:30 And she went to her house, and found her daughter lying on the couch, and [that] the demon had gone out from her.

 7:31 Jeshu again departed from the confine of Tsur and of Tsaidon, and came to the sea of Galila, on the confine of the Ten Cities;

 7:32 and they brought to him a blind man, a stammerer, and besought him to lay upon him the hand.

 7:33 And he took him aside from the crowd by himself, and put his fingers in his ears, and spat, and touched his tongue.

 7:37 and they were exceedingly astonished, and said, He doeth every thing well; the deaf he maketh to hear, and them who spoke not, to speak.

 7:37 And they admired exceedingly, and said: He doeth every thing excellently: he maketh the deaf to hear, and the speechless to talk.
