 15:1 ¶ Then there come to Jesus from Jerusalem Pharisees and scribes, saying,

 15:1 ¶ Thenº cameºº to Jesusº scribesº andº Pharisees,º whichº were ofº Jerusalem,º saying,ºº

 15:2 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

 15:2 Whyº do thyº disciplesº transgressºº theº traditionº of theº elders?º forº they washºº notº theirºº handsº whenº they eatºº bread.º

 15:3 And he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition?

 15:3 Butº heº answeredºº and saidºº unto them,º Whyº do yeº alsoº transgressºº theº commandmentº of Godº byº yourº tradition?º

 15:4 For God said, Honor thy father and thy mother: and, He that speaketh evil of father or mother, let him die the death.

 15:4 Forº Godº commanded,ºº saying,ºº Honourºº thyº fatherº andº mother:º and,º He that cursethºº fatherº orº mother,º let him dieºº the death.º

 15:5 But ye say, whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, That wherewith thou mightest have been profited by me is given [to God];

 15:5 Butº yeº say,ºº Whosoeverºº shall sayºº to [his] fatherº orº [his] mother,º [It is] a gift,º byº whatsoeverºº thou mightest be profitedºº byº me;º

 15:6 he shall not honor his father. And ye have made void the word of God because of your tradition.

 15:6 Andº honourºº notº hisºº fatherº orº hisºº mother,º [he shall be free]. Thusº have ye madeºº the commandmentº of Godº of none effectººººº byº yourº tradition.º

 15:7 Ye hypocrites, well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,

 15:7 [Ye] hypocrites,º wellº didºº Esaiasº prophesyºº ofº you,º saying,ºº

 15:8 This people honoreth me with their lips; But their heart is far from me.

 15:8 Thisº peopleº draweth nighºº unto meº with theirºº mouth,º andº honourethºº meº with [their] lips;º butº theirº heartº isºº farº fromº me.º

 15:9 But in vain do they worship me, Teaching [as their] doctrines the precepts of men.

 15:9 Butº in vainº they do worshipºº me,º teachingºº [for] doctrinesº the commandmentsº of men.º

 15:10 ¶ And he called to him the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:

 15:10 ¶ Andº he calledºº theº multitude,º and saidºº unto them,º Hear,ºº andº understand:ºº

 15:11 Not that which entereth into the mouth defileth the man; but that which proceedeth out of the mouth, this defileth the man.

 15:11 Notº that which goethºº intoº theº mouthº defilethºº a man;º butº that which comethºº outº ofº theº mouth,º thisº defilethºº a man.º

 15:12 Then came the disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, when they heard this saying?

 15:12 Thenº cameºº hisº disciples,º and saidºº unto him,º Knowestº thouºº thatº theº Phariseesº were offended,ºº after they heardºº this saying?º

 15:13 But he answered and said, Every plant which my heavenly Father planted not, shall be rooted up.

 15:13 Butº heº answeredºº and said,ºº Everyº plant,º whichº myº heavenlyº Fatherº hathºº notº planted,ºº shall be rooted up.ºº

 15:14 Let them alone: they are blind guides. And if the blind guide the blind, both shall fall into a pit.

 15:14 Letºº themº alone:ººº they beºº blindº leadersº of the blind.º Andº ifº the blindº leadºº the blind,º bothº shall fallºº intoº the ditch.º

 15:15 And Peter answered and said unto him, Declare unto us the parable.

 15:15 Thenº answeredºº Peterº and saidºº unto him,º Declareºº unto usº thisº parable.º

 15:16 And he said, Are ye also even yet without understanding?

 15:16 Andº Jesusº said,ºº Areºº yeº alsoº yetº without understanding?º

 15:17 Perceive ye not, that whatsoever goeth into the mouth passeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?

 15:17 Doºº notºº yeºº yetº understand,ºº thatº whatsoeverº enterethº inººº atº theº mouthº goethºº intoº theº belly,º andº is cast outºº intoº the draught?º

 15:18 But the things which proceed out of the mouth come forth out of the heart; and they defile the man.

 15:18 Butº those things whichº proceedºº out ofº theº mouthº come forthºº fromº theº heart;º and theyº defileºº theº man.º

 15:19 For out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, railings:

 15:19 Forº outº ofº theº heartº proceedºº evilº thoughts,º murders,º adulteries,º fornications,º thefts,º false witness,º blasphemies:º

 15:20 these are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not the man.

 15:20 Theseº areºº [the things] whichº defileºº a man:º butº to eatºº with unwashenº handsº defilethºº notº a man.º

 15:21 ¶ And Jesus went out thence, and withdrew into the parts of Tyre and Sidon.

 15:21 ¶ Thenº Jesusº wentºº thence,º and departedºº intoº theº coastsº of Tyreº andº Sidon.º

 15:22 And behold, a Canaanitish woman came out from those borders, and cried, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a demon.

 15:22 And,º behold,ºº a womanº of Canaanº cameºº out ofº theº sameº coasts,º and criedºº unto him,º saying,ºº Have mercyºº on me,º O Lord,º [thou] Sonº of David;º myº daughterº is grievouslyº vexed with a devil.ºº

 15:23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

 15:23 Butº heº answeredºº herº notº a word.º Andº hisº disciplesº cameºº and besoughtºº him,º saying,ºº Sendºº herº away;ººº forº she criethºº afterº us.º

 15:24 But he answered and said, I was not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

 15:24 Butº heº answeredºº and said,ºº I amºº notº sentºº butº untoº the lostºº sheepº of the houseº of Israel.º

 15:25 But she came and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

 15:25 Thenº cameº sheººº and worshippedºº him,º saying,ºº Lord,º helpºº me.º

 15:26 And he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread and cast it to the dogs.

 15:26 Butº heº answeredºº and said,ºº It isºº notº meetº to takeºº theº children'sº bread,º andº to castºº [it] to dogs.º

 15:27 But she said, Yea, Lord: for even the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.

 15:27 Andº sheº said,ºº Truth,º Lord:º yetºº theº dogsº eatºº ofº theº crumbsº whichº fallºº fromº theirºº masters'º table.º

 15:28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it done unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was healed from that hour.

 15:28 Thenº Jesusº answeredºº and saidºº unto her,º Oº woman,º greatº [is] thyº faith:º beº itºº unto theeº even asº thou wilt.ºº Andºº herº daughterº was made wholeºº fromº that veryº hour.º

 15:29 And Jesus departed thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and he went up into the mountain, and sat there.

 15:29 Andº Jesusº departedºº from thence,º and cameºº nigh untoº theº seaº of Galilee;º andº went upºº intoº a mountain,º and sat downºº there.º

 15:30 And there came unto him great multitudes, having with them the lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and they cast them down at this feet; and he healed them:

 15:30 Andº greatº multitudesº cameºº unto him,º havingºº withº themº [those that were]º lame,º blind,º dumb,º maimed,º andº manyº others,º andº castºº themº downººº atº Jesus'º feet;º andº he healedºº them:º

 15:31 insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb speaking, the maimed whole, and lame walking, and the blind seeing: and they glorified the God of Israel.

 15:31 Insomuch thatº theº multitudeº wondered,ºº when they sawºº the dumbº to speak,ºº the maimedº to be whole,º the lameº to walk,ºº andº the blindº to see:ºº andº they glorifiedºº theº Godº of Israel.º

 15:32 ¶ And Jesus called unto him his disciples, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days and have nothing to eat: and I would not send them away fasting, lest haply they faint on the way.

 15:32 ¶ Thenº Jesusº calledºº hisºº disciplesº [unto him], and said,ºº I have compassionºº onº theº multitude,º becauseº they continueºº withº meº nowº threeº days,º andº haveºº nothingºº to eat:ºº andº I willºº notº sendºº themº awayººº fasting,º lestº they faintºº inº theº way.º

 15:33 And the disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so many loaves in a desert place as to fill so great a multitude?

 15:33 Andº hisº disciplesº sayºº unto him,º Whenceº should weº have so muchº breadº inº the wilderness,º asº to fillºº so greatº a multitude?º

 15:34 And Jesus said unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few small fishes.

 15:34 Andº Jesusº saithºº unto them,º How manyº loavesº haveº ye?ºº Andº theyº said,ºº Seven,º andº a fewº little fishes.º

 15:35 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground;

 15:35 Andº he commandedºº theº multitudeº to sit downºº onº theº ground.º

 15:36 and he took the seven loaves and the fishes; and he gave thanks and brake, and gave to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes.

 15:36 Andº he tookºº theº sevenº loavesº andº theº fishes,º andº gave thanks,ºº and brakeºº [them], andº gaveºº to hisºº disciples,º andº theº disciplesº to theº multitude.º

 15:37 And they all ate, and were filled: and they took up that which remained over of the broken pieces, seven baskets full.

 15:37 Andº they didºº allº eat,ºº andº were filled:ºº andº they took upºº of theº brokenº [meat] that was leftºº sevenº basketsº full.º

 15:38 And they that did eat were four thousand men, besides women and children.

 15:38 Andº they that did eatºº wereºº four thousandº men,º besideº womenº andº children.º

 15:39 And he sent away the multitudes, and entered into the boat, and came into the borders of Magadan.

 15:39 Andº he sent awayºº theº multitude,º and tookºº ship,ººº andº cameºº intoº theº coastsº of Magdala.º
