Hosea 9

The distress and captivity of Israel for their sins and idolatry.

 9:1 Do not rejoice 8055, O Israel 3478, with exultation 1524a like the nations 5971a! For you have played 2181 the harlot 2181, forsaking 4480 5921 your God 430. You have loved 157 [harlots]’ earnings 868 on every 3605 threshing 1637 floor 1637.

 9:2 Threshing 1637 floor 1637 and wine 3342 press 3342 will not feed 7462a them, And the new 8492 wine 8492 will fail 3584 them.

 9:3 They will not remain 3427 in the LORD’S 3068 land 776, But Ephraim 669 will return 7725 to Egypt 4714, And in Assyria 804b they will eat 398 unclean 2931 [food].

 9:4 They will not pour 5258a out drink 5258a offerings 5258a of wine 3196 to the LORD 3068, Their sacrifices 2077 will not please 6149 Him. [Their bread will] [be] like mourners’ 205 bread 3899; All 3605 who eat 398 of it will be defiled 2930, For their bread 3899 will be for themselves 5315 [alone]; It will not enter 935 the house 1004 of the LORD 3068.

 9:5 What 4100 will you do 6213a on the day 3117 of the appointed 4150 festival 4150 And on the day 3117 of the feast 2282 of the LORD 3068?

 9:6 For behold 2009, they will go 1980 because 4480 of destruction 7701; Egypt 4714 will gather 6908 them up, Memphis 4644 will bury 6912 them. Weeds 7057 will take 3423 over 3423 their treasures 4261 of silver 3701; Thorns 2336 [will be] in their tents 168.

 9:7 ¶ The days 3117 of punishment 6486 have come 935, The days 3117 of retribution 7966 have come 935; Let Israel 3478 know 3045 [this]! The prophet 5030 is a fool 191, The inspired 7307 man 376 is demented 7696, Because 5921 of the grossness 7230 of your iniquity 5771, And [because] your hostility 4895 is [so] great 7227a.

 9:8 Ephraim 669 [was] a watchman 6822 with my God 430, a prophet 5030; [Yet] the snare 6341a of a bird 3352 catcher 3352 is in all 3605 his ways 1870, [And] there is [only] hostility 4895 in the house 1004 of his God 430.

 9:9 They have gone 6009 deep 6009 in depravity 7843 As in the days 3117 of Gibeah 1390; He will remember 2142 their iniquity 5771, He will punish 6485 their sins 2403b.

 9:10 ¶ I found 4672 Israel 3478 like grapes 6025 in the wilderness 4057b; I saw 7200 your forefathers 1 as the earliest 1063 fruit 1063 on the fig 8384 tree 8384 in its first 7225 [season]. [But] they came 935 to Baal-peor 1187 and devoted 5144a themselves to shame 1322, And they became 1961 as detestable 8251 as that which 159 they loved 157.

 9:11 As for Ephraim 669, their glory 3519b will fly 5774a away 5774a like a bird 5775— No 4480 birth 3205, no 4480 pregnancy 990 and no 4480 conception 2032!

 9:12 Though 3588 518 they bring 1431 up their children 1121, Yet I will bereave 7921 them until not a man 120 is left. Yes 3588, woe 188 to them indeed 1571 when I depart 5493 from them!

 9:13 Ephraim 669, as I have seen 7200, Is planted 8362 in a pleasant meadow 5116a like Tyre 6865; But Ephraim 669 will bring 3318 out his children 1121 for slaughter 2026.

 9:14 Give 5414 them, O LORD 3068—what 4100 will You give 5414? Give 5414 them a miscarrying 7921 womb 7358 and dry 6784 breasts 7699a.

 9:15 ¶ All 3605 their evil 7463a is at Gilgal 1537; Indeed 3588, I came to hate 8130 them there 8033! Because 5921 of the wickedness 7455 of their deeds 4611 I will drive 1644 them out of My house 1004! I will love 157 them no 3808 more 3254; All 3605 their princes 8269 are rebels 5637.

 9:16 Ephraim 669 is stricken 5221, their root 8328 is dried 3001 up, They will bear 6213a no 1097 fruit 6529. Even 1571 though 3588 they bear 3205 children, I will slay 4191 the precious 4261 ones 4261 of their womb 990.

 9:17 My God 430 will cast 3988a them away 3988a Because 3588 they have not listened 8085 to Him; And they will be wanderers 5074 among the nations 1471.
