Hosea 2

1 The idolatry of the people. 6 God's judgments against them. 14 His promises of reconciliation with them.

 2:1 Say 559 to your brothers 251, “Ammi 5971a,” and to your sisters 269, “Ruhamah 7355.”

 2:2 “Contend 7378 with your mother 517, contend 7378, For she is not my wife 802, and I am not her husband 376; And let her put 5493 away 5493 her harlotry 2183 from her face 6440 And her adultery 5005 from between 996 her breasts 7699a,

 2:3 Or 6435 I will strip 6584 her naked 6174 And expose 3322 her as on the day 3117 when she was born 3205. I will also make 7760 her like a wilderness 4057b, Make 7896 her like desert 6723 land 776 And slay 4191 her with thirst 6772.

 2:4 “Also, I will have 7355 no 3808 compassion 7355 on her children 1121, Because 3588 they are children 1121 of harlotry 2183.

 2:5 “For their mother 517 has played 2181 the harlot 2181; She who conceived 2029 them has acted 954 shamefully 954. For she said 559, ‘I will go 1980 after 310 my lovers 157, Who give 5414 [me] my bread 3899 and my water 4325, My wool 6785 and my flax 6593, my oil 8081 and my drink 8250.’

 2:6 “Therefore 3651, behold 2009, I will hedge 7753 up her way 1870 with thorns 5518b, And I will build 1443 a wall 1447 against her so that she cannot 3808 find 4672 her paths 5410b.

 2:7 “She will pursue 7291 her lovers 157, but she will not overtake 5381 them; And she will seek 1245 them, but will not find 4672 [them]. Then she will say 559, ‘I will go 1980 back 7725 to my first 7223 husband 376, For it was better 2896a for me then 227 than 4480 now 6258!’

 2:8 ¶ “For she does not know 3045 that it was I who gave 5414 her the grain 1715, the new 8492 wine 8492 and the oil 3323, And lavished 7235a on her silver 3701 and gold 2091, [Which] they used 6213a for Baal 1168a.

 2:9 “Therefore 3651, I will take 3947 back 7725 My grain 1715 at harvest time 6256 And My new 8492 wine 8492 in its season 4150. I will also take 5337 away 5337 My wool 6785 and My flax 6593 [Given] to cover 3680 her nakedness 6172.

 2:10 “And then 6258 I will uncover 1540 her lewdness 5040 In the sight 5869 of her lovers 157, And no 3808 one 376 will rescue 5337 her out of My hand 3027.

 2:11 “I will also put 7673a an end 7673a to all 3605 her gaiety 4885, Her feasts 2282, her new 2320 moons 2320, her sabbaths 7676 And all 3605 her festal 4150 assemblies 4150.

 2:12 “I will destroy 8074 her vines 1612 and fig 8384 trees 8384, Of which 834 she said 559, ‘These 1992a are my wages 866 Which 834 my lovers 157 have given 5414 me.’ And I will make 7760 them a forest 3293a, And the beasts 2421b of the field 7704 will devour 398 them.

 2:13 “I will punish 6485 her for the days 3117 of the Baals 1168a When 834 she used to offer 6999 sacrifices 6999 to them And adorn 5710b herself with her earrings 5141 and jewelry 2484, And follow 1980 310 her lovers 157, so that she forgot 7911 Me,” declares 5002 the LORD 3068.

 2:14 ¶ “Therefore 3651, behold 2009, I will allure 6601b her, Bring 1980 her into the wilderness 4057b And speak 1696 kindly 3820 to her.

 2:15 “Then I will give 5414 her her vineyards 3754 from there 8033, And the valley 6010 of Achor 5911 as a door 6607 of hope 8615b. And she will sing 6031b there 8033 as in the days 3117 of her youth 5271, As in the day 3117 when she came 5927 up from the land 776 of Egypt 4714.

 2:16 “It will come 1961 about in that day 3117,” declares 5002 the LORD 3068, “That you will call 7121 Me Ishi 376 And will no 3808 longer 5750 call 7121 Me Baali 1180.

 2:17 “For I will remove 5493 the names 8034 of the Baals 1168a from her mouth 6310, So that they will be mentioned 2142 by their names 8034 no 3808 more 5750.

 2:18 “In that day 3117 I will also make 3772 a covenant 1285 for them With the beasts 2421b of the field 7704, The birds 5775 of the sky 8064 And the creeping 7431 things 7431 of the ground 127. And I will abolish 7665 the bow 7198, the sword 2719 and war 4421 from the land 776, And will make them lie 7901 down 7901 in safety 983.

 2:19 “I will betroth 781 you to Me forever 5769; Yes, I will betroth 781 you to Me in righteousness 6664 and in justice 4941, In lovingkindness 2617a and in compassion 7356,

 2:20 And I will betroth 781 you to Me in faithfulness 530. Then you will know 3045 the LORD 3068.

 2:21 ¶ “It will come 1961 about in that day 3117 that I will respond 6030a,” declares 5002 the LORD 3068. “I will respond 6030a to the heavens 8064, and they will respond 6030a to the earth 776,

 2:22 And the earth 776 will respond 6030a to the grain 1715, to the new 8492 wine 8492 and to the oil 3323, And they will respond 6030a to Jezreel 3157.

 2:23 “I will sow 2232 her for Myself in the land 776. I will also have 7355 compassion 7355 on her who had not obtained 7355 compassion 7355, And I will say 559 to those who were not My people 5971a, ‘You are My people 5971a!’ And they will say 559, ‘[You are] my God 430!’”
