Hebrews 5

1 The authority and honour of our Saviour's priesthood. 11 Negligence in the knowledge thereof is reproved.

 5:1 For every 3956 high 749 priest 749 taken 2983 from among 1537 men 444 is appointed 2525 on behalf 5228 of men 444 in things pertaining 4314 to God 2316, in order 2443 to offer 4374 both 5037 gifts 1435 and sacrifices 2378 for sins 266;

 5:2 he can 1410 deal 3356 gently 3356 with the ignorant 50 and misguided 4105, since 1893 he himself 846 also 2532 is beset 4029 with weakness 769;

 5:3 and because 1223 of it he is obligated 3784 to offer 4374 [sacrifices] for sins 266, as for the people 2992, so 3779 also 2532 for himself 1438.

 5:4 And no 3756 one 5100 takes 2983 the honor 5092 to himself 1438, but [receives it] when he is called 2564 by God 2316, even 2531b as Aaron 2 was.

 5:5 ¶ So 3779 also 2532 Christ 5547 did not glorify 1392 Himself 1438 so as to become 1096 a high 749 priest 749, but He who 5101 said 2980 to Him, “YOU ARE MY SON 5207, TODAY 4594 I HAVE BEGOTTEN 1080 YOU”;

 5:6 just 2531a as He says 3004 also 2532 in another 2087 [passage], “YOU ARE A PRIEST 2409 FOREVER 165 ACCORDING 2596 TO THE ORDER 5010 OF MELCHIZEDEK 3198.”

 5:7 In the days 2250 of His flesh 4561, He offered 4374 up both 5037 prayers 1162 and supplications 2428 with loud 2478 crying 2906 and tears 1144 to the One able 1410 to save 4982 Him from death 2288, and He was heard 1522 because 575 of His piety 2124.

 5:8 Although 2539 He was a Son 5207, He learned 3129 obedience 5218 from the things which 3739 He suffered 3958.

 5:9 And having been made 5048 perfect 5048, He became 1096 to all 3956 those 3588 who obey 5219 Him the source 159a of eternal 166 salvation 4991,

 5:10 being designated 4316 by God 2316 as a high 749 priest 749 according 2596 to the order 5010 of Melchizedek 3198.

 5:11 ¶ Concerning 4012 him we have much 4183 to say 3056, and [it is] hard 1421 to explain 1421, since 1893 you have become 1096 dull 3576 of hearing 189.

 5:12 For though 2532 by this 3588 time 5550 you ought 3784 to be teachers 1320, you have 2192 need 5532 again 3825 for someone 5100 to teach 1321 you the elementary 4747 746 principles 4747 of the oracles 3051 of God 2316, and you have come 1096 to need 5532 milk 1051 and not solid 4731 food 5160.

 5:13 For everyone 3956 who partakes 3348 [only] of milk 1051 is not accustomed 552 to the word 3056 of righteousness 1343, for he is an infant 3516.

 5:14 But solid 4731 food 5160 is for the mature 5046, who because 1223 of practice 1838 have 2192 their senses 145 trained 1128 to discern 1253 good 2570 and evil 2556.
