2 Kings 7

1 Elisha prophesieth incredible plenty in Samaria. 3 Four lepers, venturing on the host of the Syrians, bring tidings of their flight. 12 The king, finding by spies the news to be true, spoileth the tents of the Syrians. 17 The lord, who would not believe the prophecy of plenty, having charge of the gate, is trodden to death in the press.

 7:1 Then Elisha 477 said 559, “Listen 8085 to the word 1697 of the LORD 3068; thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, ‘Tomorrow 4279 about this time 6256 a measure 5429 of fine 5560 flour 5560 will be [sold] for a shekel 8255, and two measures 5429 of barley 8184 for a shekel 8255, in the gate 8179 of Samaria 8111.’”

 7:2 The royal 4428 officer 7991c on whose 834 hand 3027 the king 4428 was leaning 8172 answered 6030a the man 376 of God 430 and said 559, “Behold 2009, if the LORD 3068 should make 6213a windows 699 in heaven 8064, could this 2088 thing 1697 be?” Then he said 559, “Behold 2009, you will see 7200 it with your own eyes 5869, but you will not eat 398 of it.”

 7:3 ¶ Now there were four 702 leprous 6879 men 376 at the entrance 6607 of the gate 8179; and they said 559 to one 376 another 7453, “Why 4100 do we sit 3427 here 6311 until 5704 we die 4191?

 7:4 “If 518 we say 559, ‘We will enter 935 the city 5892b,’ then the famine 7458 is in the city 5892b and we will die 4191 there 8033; and if 518 we sit 3427 here 6311, we die 4191 also. Now 6258 therefore come 1980, and let us go 5307 over 5307 to the camp 4264 of the Arameans 758. If 518 they spare 2421a us, we will live 2421a; and if 518 they kill 4191 us, we will but die 4191.”

 7:5 They arose 6965 at twilight 5399 to go 935 to the camp 4264 of the Arameans 758; when they came 935 to the outskirts 7097a of the camp 4264 of the Arameans 758, behold 2009, there 369 was no 369 one 376 there 8033.

 7:6 For the Lord 136 had caused the army 4264 of the Arameans 758 to hear 8085 a sound 6963 of chariots 7393 and a sound 6963 of horses 5483b, [even] the sound 6963 of a great 1419 army 2428, so that they said 559 to one 376 another 251, “Behold 2009, the king 4428 of Israel 3478 has hired 7936 against 5921 us the kings 4428 of the Hittites 2850 and the kings 4428 of the Egyptians 4714, to come 935 upon us.”

 7:7 Therefore they arose 6965 and fled 5127 in the twilight 5399, and left 5800a their tents 168 and their horses 5483b and their donkeys 2543, [even] the camp 4264 just 3512c as it was, and fled 5127 for their life 5315.

 7:8 When these 428 lepers 6879 came 935 to the outskirts 7097a of the camp 4264, they entered 935 one 259 tent 168 and ate 398 and drank 8354, and carried 5375 from there 8033 silver 3701 and gold 2091 and clothes 899b, and went 1980 and hid 2934 [them]; and they returned 7725 and entered 935 another 312 tent 168 and carried 5375 from there 8033 [also], and went 1980 and hid 2934 [them].

 7:9 ¶ Then they said 559 to one 376 another 7453, “We are not doing 6213a right 3653a. This 2088 day 3117 is a day 3117 of good news 1309, but we are keeping 2814 silent 2814; if we wait 2442 until 5704 morning 1242 light 216, punishment 5771 will overtake 4672 us. Now 6258 therefore come 1980, let us go 935 and tell 5046 the king’s 4428 household 1004.”

 7:10 So they came 935 and called 7121 to the gatekeepers 7778 of the city 5892b, and they told 5046 them, saying 559, “We came 935 to the camp 4264 of the Arameans 758, and behold 2009, there 369 was no 369 one 376 there 8033, nor 369 the voice 6963 of man 120, only 3588 518 the horses 5483b tied 631 and the donkeys 2543 tied 631, and the tents 168 just 3512c as they were.”

 7:11 The gatekeepers 7778 called 7121 and told 5046 [it] within 6441 the king’s 4428 household 1004.

 7:12 Then the king 4428 arose 6965 in the night 3915 and said 559 to his servants 5650, “I will now 4994 tell 5046 you what 834 the Arameans 758 have done 6213a to us. They know 3045 that we are hungry 7457; therefore they have gone 3318 from the camp 4264 to hide 2247 themselves in the field 7704, saying 559, ‘When 3588 they come 3318 out of the city 5892b, we will capture 8610 them alive 2416a and get 935 into the city 5892b.’”

 7:13 One 259 of his servants 5650 said 559, “Please 4994, let some [men] take 3947 five 2568 of the horses 5483b which remain 7604, which 834 are left 7604 in the city. Behold 2009, they [will be in any case] like all 3605 the multitude 1995 of Israel 3478 who 834 are left 7604 in it; behold 2009, they [will be in any case] like all 3605 the multitude 1995 of Israel 3478 who 834 have already perished 8552, so let us send 7971 and see 7200.”

 7:14 They took 3947 therefore two 8147 chariots 7393 with horses 5483b, and the king 4428 sent 7971 after 310 the army 4264 of the Arameans 758, saying 559, “Go 1980 and see 7200.”

 7:15 They went 1980 after 310 them to the Jordan 3383, and behold 2009, all 3605 the way 1870 was full 4392 of clothes 899b and equipment 3627 which 834 the Arameans 758 had thrown 7993 away 7993 in their haste 2648. Then the messengers 4397 returned 7725 and told 5046 the king 4428.

 7:16 ¶ So the people 5971a went 3318 out and plundered 962 the camp 4264 of the Arameans 758. Then a measure 5429 of fine 5560 flour 5560 [was sold] for a shekel 8255 and two measures 5429 of barley 8184 for a shekel 8255, according to the word 1697 of the LORD 3068.

 7:17 Now the king 4428 appointed 6485 the royal 7991c officer 7991c on whose 834 hand 3027 he leaned 8172 to have 5921 charge 5921 of the gate 8179; but the people 5971a trampled 7429 on him at the gate 8179, and he died 4191 just 3512c as the man 376 of God 430 had said 1696, who 834 spoke 1696 when the king 4428 came 3381 down 3381 to him.

 7:18 It happened 1961 just as the man 376 of God 430 had spoken 1696 to the king 4428, saying 559, “Two measures 5429 of barley 8184 for a shekel 8255 and a measure 5429 of fine 5560 flour 5560 for a shekel 8255, will be [sold] tomorrow 4279 about this time 6256 at the gate 8179 of Samaria 8111.”

 7:19 Then the royal 7991c officer 7991c answered 6030a the man 376 of God 430 and said 559, “Now behold 2009, if the LORD 3068 should make 6213a windows 699 in heaven 8064, could such 2088 a thing 1697 be?” And he said 559, “Behold 2009, you will see 7200 it with your own eyes 5869, but you will not eat 398 of it.”

 7:20 And so 3651 it happened 1961 to him, for the people 5971a trampled 7429 on him at the gate 8179 and he died 4191.
