2 Kings 21

1 Manasseh's reign. 3 His great idolatry. 10 His wickedness causeth prophecies against Judah. 17 Amon succeedeth him. 19 Amon's wicked reign. 23 He being slain by his servants, and those murderers being slain by the people, Josiah is made king.

 21:1 Manasseh 4519 was twelve 8147 6240 years 8141 old 1121 when he became 4427a king 4427a, and he reigned 4427a fifty-five 2572 years 8141 in Jerusalem 3389; and his mother’s 517 name 8034 was Hephzibah 2657.

 21:2 He did 6213a evil 7451a in the sight 5869 of the LORD 3068, according to the abominations 8441 of the nations 1471 whom 834 the LORD 3068 dispossessed 3423 before 4480 6440 the sons 1121 of Israel 3478.

 21:3 For he rebuilt 7725 1129 the high 1116 places 1116 which 834 Hezekiah 2396 his father 1 had destroyed 6; and he erected 6965 altars 4196 for Baal 1168a and made 6213a an Asherah 842, as Ahab 256 king 4428 of Israel 3478 had done 6213a, and worshiped 7812 all 3605 the host 6635 of heaven 8064 and served 5647 them.

 21:4 He built 1129 altars 4196 in the house 1004 of the LORD 3068, of which 834 the LORD 3068 had said 559, “In Jerusalem 3389 I will put 7760 My name 8034.”

 21:5 For he built 1129 altars 4196 for all 3605 the host 6635 of heaven 8064 in the two 8147 courts 2691a of the house 1004 of the LORD 3068.

 21:6 He made his son 1121 pass 5674a through the fire 784, practiced 6049a witchcraft 6049a and used 5172 divination 5172, and dealt 6213a with mediums 178 and spiritists 3049. He did 6213a much 7235a evil 7451a in the sight 5869 of the LORD 3068 provoking 3707 [Him to anger].

 21:7 Then he set 7760 the carved 6459 image 6459 of Asherah 842 that he had made 6213a, in the house 1004 of which 834 the LORD 3068 said 559 to David 1732 and to his son 1121 Solomon 8010, “In this 2088 house 1004 and in Jerusalem 3389, which 834 I have chosen 977 from all 3605 the tribes 7626 of Israel 3478, I will put 7760 My name 8034 forever 5769.

 21:8 “And I will not make the feet 7272 of Israel 3478 wander 5110 anymore 3254 from the land 127 which 834 I gave 5414 their fathers 1, if 518 only 7534 they will observe 8104 to do 6213a according to all 3605 that I have commanded 6680 them, and according to all 3605 the law 8451 that My servant 5650 Moses 4872 commanded 6680 them.”

 21:9 But they did not listen 8085, and Manasseh 4519 seduced 8582 them to do 6213a evil 7451b more 4480 than 4480 the nations 1471 whom 834 the LORD 3068 destroyed 8045 before 4480 6440 the sons 1121 of Israel 3478.

 21:10 ¶ Now the LORD 3068 spoke 1696 through 3027 His servants 5650 the prophets 5030, saying 559,

 21:11 “Because 3282 834 Manasseh 4519 king 4428 of Judah 3063 has done 6213a these 428 abominations 8441, having done 7489a wickedly 7489a more 4480 than 4480 all 3605 the Amorites 567 did 6213a who 834 [were] before 6440 him, and has also 1571 made Judah 3063 sin 2398 with his idols 1544;

 21:12 therefore 3651 thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, the God 430 of Israel 3478, ‘Behold 2009, I am bringing 935 [such] calamity 7463a on Jerusalem 3389 and Judah 3063, that whoever 3605 hears 8085 of it, both 8147 his ears 241 will tingle 6750.

 21:13 ‘I will stretch 5186 over 5921 Jerusalem 3389 the line 6957b of Samaria 8111 and the plummet 4949 of the house 1004 of Ahab 256, and I will wipe 4229a Jerusalem 3389 as one wipes 4229a a dish 6747, wiping 4229a it and turning 2015 it upside 5921 6440 down 6440.

 21:14 ‘I will abandon 5203 the remnant 7611 of My inheritance 5159 and deliver 5414 them into the hand 3027 of their enemies 340, and they will become 1961 as plunder 957 and spoil 4933 to all 3605 their enemies 340;

 21:15 because 3282 834 they have done 6213a evil 7451a in My sight 5869, and have been 1961 provoking 3707 Me to anger 3707 since 4480 the day 3117 their fathers 1 came 3318 from Egypt 4714, even to this 2088 day 3117.’”

 21:16 ¶ Moreover 1571, Manasseh 4519 shed 8210 very 3966 much 7235a innocent 5355a blood 1818 until 5704 834 he had filled 4390 Jerusalem 3389 from one 6310 end 6310 to another 6310; besides 905 4480 his sin 2403b with which 834 he made Judah 3063 sin 2398, in doing 6213a evil 7451a in the sight 5869 of the LORD 3068.

 21:17 Now the rest 3499a of the acts 1697 of Manasseh 4519 and all 3605 that he did 6213a and his sin 2403b which 834 he committed 2398, are they not written 3789 in the Book 5612 of the Chronicles 1697 3117 of the Kings 4428 of Judah 3063?

 21:18 And Manasseh 4519 slept 7901 with his fathers 1 and was buried 6912 in the garden 1588 of his own house 1004, in the garden 1588 of Uzza 5798, and Amon 526 his son 1121 became 4427a king 4427a in his place 8478.

 21:19 ¶ Amon 526 was twenty-two 6242 8147 years 8141 old 1121 when he became 4427a king 4427a, and he reigned 4427a two 8147 years 8141 in Jerusalem 3389; and his mother’s 517 name 8034 [was] Meshullemeth 4922 the daughter 1323 of Haruz 2743 of Jotbah 3192.

 21:20 He did 6213a evil 7451a in the sight 5869 of the LORD 3068, as Manasseh 4519 his father 1 had done 6213a.

 21:21 For he walked 1980 in all 3605 the way 1870 that his father 1 had walked 1980, and served 5647 the idols 1544 that his father 1 had served 5647 and worshiped 7812 them.

 21:22 So he forsook 5800a the LORD 3068, the God 430 of his fathers 1, and did not walk 1980 in the way 1870 of the LORD 3068.

 21:23 The servants 5650 of Amon 526 conspired 7194 against 5921 him and killed 4191 the king 4428 in his own house 1004.

 21:24 Then the people 5971a of the land 776 killed 5221 all 3605 those who had conspired 7194 against 5921 King 4428 Amon 526, and the people 5971a of the land 776 made 4427a Josiah 2977 his son 1121 king 4427a in his place 8478.

 21:25 Now the rest 3499a of the acts 1697 of Amon 526 which 834 he did 6213a, are they not written 3789 in the Book 5612 of the Chronicles 1697 3117 of the Kings 4428 of Judah 3063?

 21:26 He was buried 6912 in his grave 6900 in the garden 1588 of Uzza 5798, and Josiah 2977 his son 1121 became 4427a king 4427a in his place 8478.
