And the Lord spoke to Mosheh{gr.Moses}, saying, |

Avenge the wrongs of the children of Israel on the Midianites{gr.Madianites}, and afterwards thou shalt be added to thy people. |

shalt thou be gathered°°
unto°
thy people.° |

31:3
And Mosheh{gr.Moses} spoke to the people, saying, Arm some of you, and set yourselves in array before the Lord against Midian{gr.Madian}, to inflict vengeance on Midian{gr.Madian} from the Lord. |

the people,°

Arm°°
some°°
of yourselves°°
unto the war,°
and let them go°
against°
the Midianites,°
and avenge°°°
Yahweh°
of Midian.° |

Send a thousand of each tribe from all the tribes of the children of Israel to set themselves in array. |
|

Of every tribe°
a thousand,°°
throughout all°
the tribes°
of Israel,°
shall ye send°°
to the war.° |
|
31:5
And they numbered of the thousands of Israel a thousand of [each] tribe, twelve thousands; [these were] armed for war. |

So there were delivered°°
out of the thousands°°
of Israel,°
a thousand°
of [every] tribe,°
twelve°°
thousand°
armed°°
for war.° |

31:6
And Mosheh{gr.Moses} sent them away a thousand of every tribe with their forces, and Phinehas{gr.Phinees} the son of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest: and the holy instruments, and the signal trumpets [were] in their hands. |

a thousand°
of [every] tribe,°
them and Phinehas°
the son°
of Eleazar°
the priest,°
to the war,°
with the holy°
instruments,°
and the trumpets°
to blow°
in his hand.° |

And they set themselves in array against Midian{gr.Madian}, as the Lord commanded Mosheh{gr.Moses}; and they slew every male. |

And they warred°°
against°
the Midianites,°
as°
Yahweh°
commanded°°°
Moses;°
and they slew°°
all°
the males.° |
|
31:8
And they slew the kings of Midian{gr.Madian} together with their slain [subjects]; even Evi and Rocon, and Shur{gr.Sur}, and Ur, and Roboc, five kings of Midian{gr.Madian}; and they slew with the sword Balaam the son of Beor with their [other] slain. |
|

And they slew°°
the kings°
of Midian,°
beside°
the rest of them that were slain;°
[namely],°
Evi,°
and Rekem,°
and Zur,°
and Hur,°
and Reba,°

kings°
of Midian:°
Balaam°
also the son°

And they made a prey of the women of Midian{gr.Madian}, and their store, and their cattle, and all their possessions: and they spoiled their forces. |

the women°
of Midian°
captives,°°
and their little ones,°
and took the spoil°°
of all°
their cattle,°
and all°
their flocks,°
and all°
their goods.° |

And they burnt with fire all their cities in the places of their habitation and they burnt their villages with fire. |

wherein they dwelt,°
and all°
their goodly castles,°
with fire.° |

And they took all their plunder, and all their spoils, both man and beast. |
|

And they took°°°

the spoil,°
and all°
the prey,°
[both] of men°
and of beasts.° |

And they brought to Mosheh{gr.Moses} and to Eleazar the priest, and to all the children of Israel, the captives, and the spoils, and the plunder, to the camp to Araboth Moab, which is at Jordan by Jericho. |

And they brought°°°
the captives,°
and the prey,°
and the spoil,°
unto°
Moses,°
and Eleazar°
the priest,°
and unto°
the congregation°
of the children°
of Israel,°
unto°
the camp°
at°
the plains°
of Moab,°
which°
[are] by°
Jordan°
[near] Jericho.° |

And Mosheh{gr.Moses} and Eleazar the priest and all the rulers of the synagogue went forth out of the camp to meet them. |
|
31:13 ¶
And Moses,°
and Eleazar°
the priest,°
and all°
the princes°
of the congregation,°
went forth°°
to meet°°
them without°°°
the camp.° |
|
31:14
And Mosheh{gr.Moses} was angry with the captains of the host, the heads of thousands and the heads of hundreds who came from the battle-array. |
|

And Moses°
was wroth°°
with°
the officers°°
of the host,°
[with] the captains°
over thousands,°
and captains°
over hundreds,°
which came°°
from°
the battle.°°° |
|
31:15
And Mosheh{gr.Moses} said to them, Why have ye saved every female alive? |
|
31:15
And Moses°
said°°
unto°
them, Have ye saved°°
all the women°
alive?°°°° |
|
31:16
For they were [the occasion] to the children of Israel by the word of Balaam of their revolting and despising the word of the Lord, because of Peor{gr.Phogor}; and there was a plague in the congregation of the Lord. |

31:16
Behold,°
these°
caused°°
the children°
of Israel,°
through the counsel°
of Balaam,°
to commit°°
trespass°
against Yahweh°
in°
the matter°
of Peor,°
and there was°
a plague°
among the congregation°
of Yahweh.° |
|
31:17
Now then slay every male in all the spoil, slay every woman, who has known the lying with man. |
|
31:17
Now°
therefore kill°°
every°
male°
among the little ones,°
and kill°°
every°
woman°
that hath known°°
man°
by lying°
with him.° |
|
31:18
And as for all the captivity of women, who have not known the lying with man, save ye them alive. |
|
31:18
But all°
the women°
children,°
that°
have not°
known°°
a man°
by lying°
with him, keep alive°°
for yourselves. |
|
31:19
And ye shall encamp outside the [great] camp seven days; every one who has slain and who touches a dead body, shall be purified on the third day, and ye and your captivity [shall purify yourselves] on the seventh day. |
|

And do ye°
abide°°
without°°
the camp°
seven°
days:°
whosoever°
hath killed°°
any person,°
and whosoever°
hath touched°°
any slain,°
purify°°
[both] yourselves°
and your captives°
on the third°
day,°
and on the seventh°
day.° |

And ye shall purify every garment and every leathern utensil, and all furniture of goat skin, and every wooden vessel. |
|

And purify°°
all°
[your] raiment,°
and all°
that is made°
of skins,°
and all°
work°
of goats'°
[hair], and all°
things°
made°
of wood.° |

31:21 ¶
And Eleazar the priest said to the men of the host that came from the battle-array, This [is] the ordinance of the law which the Lord has commanded Mosheh{gr.Moses}. |

to the battle,°
This°
[is] the ordinance°
of the law°

Beside the gold, and the silver, and the brass, and the iron, and lead, and tin, |

the iron,°°
the tin,°
and the lead,° |

every thing that shall pass through the fire shall so be clean, nevertheless it shall be purified with the water of sanctification; and whatsoever will not pass through the fire shall pass through water. |

may abide°°
the fire,°
ye shall make [it] go°
through°°
the fire,°
and it shall be clean:°°
nevertheless°
it shall be purified°°
with the water°
of separation:°
and all°
that°
abideth°°

the fire°
ye shall make go°

And on the seventh day ye shall wash your garments, and be clean; and afterwards ye shall come into the camp. |

and ye shall be clean,°°
and afterward°

31:25 ¶
And the Lord spoke to Mosheh{gr.Moses}, saying, |

Moses,°
saying,°° |
|

Take the sum of the spoils of the captivity both of man and beast, thou and Eleazar the priest, and the heads of the families of the congregation. |

the sum°
of the prey°
that was taken,°
[both] of man°
and of beast,°
thou,°
and Eleazar°
the priest,°
and the chief°
fathers°
of the congregation:° |

And ye shall divide the spoils between the warriors that went out to battle, and the whole congregation. |
|

And divide°°°
the prey°
into two parts;°°
between°
them that took°°
the war°
upon them, who went out°°
to battle,°
and between°
all°
the congregation:° |
|
31:28
And ye shall take a tribute for the Lord from the warriors that went out to battle; one soul out of five hundred, from the men, and from the cattle, even from the oxen, and from the sheep, and from the asses; and ye shall take from their half. |
|

And levy°°
a tribute°
unto Yahweh°
of°°
the men°°
of war°
which went out°°
to battle:°
one°
soul°
of five°°
hundred,°
[both] of°
the persons,°
and of°
the beeves,°
and of°
the asses,°
and of°
the sheep:° |

And thou shalt give [them] to Eleazar the priest [as] the first-fruits of the Lord. |

[it] of their half,°°
and give°°
it unto Eleazar°
the priest,°
[for] an heave offering°
of Yahweh.° |
|
31:30
And from the half belonging to the children of Israel thou shalt take one in fifty from the men, and from the oxen, and from the sheep, and from the asses, and from all the cattle; and thou shalt give them to the Levites that keep the charges in the tabernacle of the Lord. |
|

the persons,°

the beeves,°

the asses,°

the flocks,°

of beasts,°

And persons of women who had not known lying with man, all the souls, thirty-two thousand. |

And the half, [even] the portion of them that went out to war, from the number of the sheep, was three hundred and thirty-seven thousand and five hundred. |

and thirty°
thousand°

hundred°

And the tribute to the Lord from the sheep was six hundred and seventy-five. |

And the oxen, six and thirty thousand, and the tribute to the Lord seventy-two. |

And the beeves°
[were] thirty°

of which Yahweh's°

[was] threescore and twelve.°° |

And asses, thirty thousand and five hundred, and the tribute to the Lord, sixty-one: |

of which Yahweh's°

and the persons, sixteen thousand, and the tribute of them to the Lord, thirty-two souls. |

And Mosheh{gr.Moses} gave the tribute to the Lord, the heave-offering of God, to Eleazar the priest, as the Lord commanded Mosheh{gr.Moses}; |

And all those who were appointed to be officers of thousands of the host, captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, approached Mosheh{gr.Moses}, and said to Mosheh{gr.Moses}, |

[were] over thousands°
of the host,°
the captains°
of thousands,°
and captains°
of hundreds,°
came near°°
unto°
Moses:° |

Thy servants have taken the sum of the men of war with us, and not one is missing. |

Moses,°
Thy servants°

the sum°

[are] under our charge,°
and there lacketh°°

one man°

us. |

And we have brought our gift to the Lord, [every] man who has found an article of gold, whether an armlet, or a chain, or a ring, or a bracelet, or a clasp for hair, to make atonement for us before the Lord. |

We have therefore brought°°°
an oblation°
for Yahweh,°
what°
every man°
hath gotten,°°
of jewels°
of gold,°
chains,°
and bracelets,°
rings,°
earrings,°
and tablets,°
to make an atonement°°
for°
our souls°
before°
Yahweh.° |

And Mosheh{gr.Moses} and Eleazar the priest took the gold from them, even every wrought article. |

jewels.° |

And all the wrought gold, even the offering that they offered to the Lord, was sixteen thousand and seven hundred and fifty shekels from the captains of thousands and the captains of hundreds. |

to Yahweh,°

the captains°
of thousands,°

For the men of war took plunder every one for himself. |

had taken spoil,°°

And Mosheh{gr.Moses} and Eleazar the priest took the gold from the captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, and brought the vessels into the tabernacle of witness, a memorial of the children of Israel before the Lord. |
