1 The companions of Ezra, who returned from Babylon. 15 He sendeth to Iddo for ministers for the Temple. 21 He keepeth a fast. 24 He committeth the treasures to the custody of the priests. 31 From Ahava they come to Jerusalem. 33 The treasure is weighed in the Temple. 36 The commission is delivered.

Now these 428 are the heads 7218 of their fathers’ 1 [households] and the genealogical 3187 enrollment 3187 of those who went 5927 up with me from Babylon 894 in the reign 4438 of King 4428 Artaxerxes 783a:

¶ Now I assembled 6908 them at the river 5104 that runs 935 to Ahava 163, where 8033 we camped 2583 for three 7969 days 3117; and when I observed 995 the people 5971a and the priests 3548, I did not find 4672 any 4480 Levites 1121 3881 there 8033.

So I sent 7971 for Eliezer 461, Ariel 739, Shemaiah 8098, Elnathan 494, Jarib 3402, Elnathan 494, Nathan 5416, Zechariah 2148a and Meshullam 4918, leading 7218 men 7218, and for Joiarib 3080 and Elnathan 494, teachers 995.

I sent 3318 them to Iddo 112a the leading 7218 man 7218 at the place 4725 Casiphia 3703; and I told 7760 1697 6310 them what 1697 to say 1696 to Iddo 112a [and] his brothers 251, the temple 5411 servants 5411 at the place 4725 Casiphia 3703, [that is], to bring 935 ministers 8334 to us for the house 1004 of our God 430.

According to the good 2896a hand 3027 of our God 430 upon us they brought 935 us a man 376 of insight 7922 of the sons 1121 of Mahli 4249, the son 1121 of Levi 3878, the son 1121 of Israel 3478, namely Sherebiah 8274, and his sons 1121 and brothers 251, 18 8083 6240 men;

and Hashabiah 2811 and Jeshaiah 3470a of the sons 1121 of Merari 4847, with his brothers 251 and their sons 1121, 20 6242 men;

and 220 3967 6242 of the temple 5411 servants 5411, whom 7945 David 1732 and the princes 8269 had given 5414 for the service 5656 of the Levites 3881, all 3605 of them designated 5344a by name 8034.

¶ Then I proclaimed 7121 a fast 6685 there 8033 at the river 5104 of Ahava 163, that we might humble 6031a ourselves before 6440 our God 430 to seek 1245 from Him a safe 3477 journey 1870 for us, our little 2945 ones 2945, and all 3605 our possessions 7399.

For I was ashamed 954 to request 7592 from the king 4428 troops 2428 and horsemen 6571b to protect 5826 us from the enemy 340 on the way 1870, because 3588 we had said 559 to the king 4428, “The hand 3027 of our God 430 is favorably 2899b disposed 2899b to all 3605 those who seek 1245 Him, but His power 5797 and His anger 639 are against 5921 all 3605 those who forsake 5800a Him.”
8:23
So we fasted 6684 and sought 1245 our God 430 concerning 5921 this 2088 [matter], and He listened 6279 to our entreaty 6279.
8:24
¶ Then I set 914 apart 914 twelve 8147 6240 of the leading 8269 priests 3548, Sherebiah 8274, Hashabiah 2811, and with them ten 6235 of their brothers 251;

and I weighed 8254 out to them the silver 3701, the gold 2091 and the utensils 3627, the offering 8641 for the house 1004 of our God 430 which the king 4428 and his counselors 3289 and his princes 8269 and all 3605 Israel 3478 present 4672 [there] had offered 7311.
8:26
Thus I weighed 8254 into their hands 3027 650 8337a 3967 2572 talents 3603 of silver 3701, and silver 3701 utensils 3627 [worth] 100 3967 talents 3603, [and] 100 3967 gold 2091 talents 3603,
8:27
and 20 6242 gold 2091 bowls 3713a [worth] 1,000 505 darics 150, and two 8147 utensils 3627 of fine 2896a shiny 6668 bronze 5178, precious 2536b as gold 2091.
8:28
Then I said 559 to them, “You are holy 6944 to the LORD 3068, and the utensils 3627 are holy 6944; and the silver 3701 and the gold 2091 are a freewill 5071 offering 5071 to the LORD 3068 God 430 of your fathers 1.
8:29
“Watch 8245 and keep 8104 [them] until 5704 you weigh 8254 [them] before 6440 the leading 8269 priests 3548, the Levites 3881 and the heads 8269 of the fathers’ 1 [households] of Israel 3478 at Jerusalem 3389, [in] the chambers 3957 of the house 1004 of the LORD 3068.”
8:30
So the priests 3548 and the Levites 3881 accepted 6901 the weighed 4948 out silver 3701 and gold 2091 and the utensils 3627, to bring 935 [them] to Jerusalem 3389 to the house 1004 of our God 430.
8:31
¶ Then we journeyed 5265 from the river 5104 Ahava 163 on the twelfth 8147 6240 of the first 7223 month 2320 to go 1980 to Jerusalem 3389; and the hand 3027 of our God 430 was over 5921 us, and He delivered 5337 us from the hand 3709 of the enemy 340 and the ambushes 693 by the way 1870.

Thus we came 935 to Jerusalem 3389 and remained 3427 there 8033 three 7969 days 3117.
8:33
On the fourth 7243 day 3117 the silver 3701 and the gold 2091 and the utensils 3627 were weighed 8254 out in the house 1004 of our God 430 into the hand 3027 of Meremoth 4822 the son 1121 of Uriah 223a the priest 3548, and with him [was] Eleazar 499 the son 1121 of Phinehas 6372; and with them [were] the Levites 3881, Jozabad 3107 the son 1121 of Jeshua 3091 and Noadiah 5129 the son 1121 of Binnui 1131b.

Everything 3605 [was] numbered 4557 and weighed 4948, and all 3605 the weight 4948 was recorded 3789 at that time 6256.

¶ The exiles 1121 1473 who had come 935 from the captivity 7628b offered 7126 burnt 5930a offerings 5930a to the God 430 of Israel 3478: 12 8147 6240 bulls 6499 for all 3605 Israel 3478, 96 8673 8337a rams 352a, 77 7657 7651 lambs 3532, 12 8147 6240 male 6842 goats 6842 for a sin 2403b offering 2403b, all 3605 as a burnt 5930a offering 5930a to the LORD 3068.

Then they delivered 5414 the king’s 4428 edicts 1881 to the king’s 4428 satraps 323 and to the governors 6346 [in the provinces] beyond 5676 the River 5104, and they supported 5375 the people 5971a and the house 1004 of God 430.
