Ezra 7

1 Ezra goeth up to Jerusalem. 11 The gracious commission of Artaxerxes to Ezra. 27 Ezra blesseth God for his favour.

 7:1 Now after 310 these 428 things 1697, in the reign 4438 of Artaxerxes 783a king 4428 of Persia 6539, [there went up] Ezra 5830 son 1121 of Seraiah 8304, son 1121 of Azariah 5838, son 1121 of Hilkiah 2518,

 7:2 son 1121 of Shallum 7967, son 1121 of Zadok 6659, son 1121 of Ahitub 285,

 7:3 son 1121 of Amariah 568, son 1121 of Azariah 5838, son 1121 of Meraioth 4812,

 7:4 son 1121 of Zerahiah 2228, son 1121 of Uzzi 5813, son 1121 of Bukki 1231,

 7:5 son 1121 of Abishua 50, son 1121 of Phinehas 6372, son 1121 of Eleazar 499, son 1121 of Aaron 175 the chief 7218 priest 3548.

 7:6 This 1931 Ezra 5830 went 5927 up from Babylon 894, and he was a scribe 5613b skilled 4106 in the law 8451 of Moses 4872, which 834 the LORD 3068 God 430 of Israel 3478 had given 5414; and the king 4428 granted 5414 him all 3605 he requested 1246 because the hand 3028 of the LORD 3068 his God 430 [was] upon him.

 7:7 Some 4480 of the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 and some 4480 of the priests 3548, the Levites 3881, the singers 7891, the gatekeepers 7778 and the temple 5411 servants 5411 went 5927 up to Jerusalem 3389 in the seventh 7651 year 8141 of King 4428 Artaxerxes 783a.

 7:8 ¶ He came 935 to Jerusalem 3389 in the fifth 2549 month 2320, which 1931 was in the seventh 7637 year 8141 of the king 4428.

 7:9 For on the first 259 of the first 7223 month 2320 he began 3246 to go 4609b up from Babylon 894; and on the first 259 of the fifth 2549 month 2320 he came 935 to Jerusalem 3389, because the good 2896a hand 3027 of his God 430 [was] upon him.

 7:10 For Ezra 5830 had set 3559 his heart 3824 to study 1875 the law 8451 of the LORD 3068 and to practice 6213a [it], and to teach 3925 [His] statutes 2706 and ordinances 4941 in Israel 3478.

 7:11 ¶ Now this 2088 is the copy 6572 of the decree 5406 which 834 King 4428 Artaxerxes 783a gave 5414 to Ezra 5830 the priest 3548, the scribe 5613b, learned 5613b in the words 1697 of the commandments 4687 of the LORD 3068 and His statutes 2706 to Israel 3478:

 7:12 “Artaxerxes 783b, king 4430 of kings 4430, to Ezra 5831 the priest 3549, the scribe 5613a of the law 1882 of the God 426 of heaven 8065, perfect 1585 [peace]. And now 3706

 7:13 I have issued 7761 a decree 2942 that any 3606 of the people 5972 of Israel 3479 and their priests 3549 and the Levites 3879 in my kingdom 4437 who 1768 are willing 5069 to go 1981 to Jerusalem 3390, may go 1981 with you.

 7:14 “Forasmuch 3606 6903 1768 as you are sent 7972 by the king 4430 and his seven 7655 counselors 3272a to inquire 1240 concerning 5922 Judah 3061 and Jerusalem 3390 according to the law 1882 of your God 426 which 1768 is in your hand 3028,

 7:15 and to bring 2987 the silver 3702 and gold 1722, which 1768 the king 4430 and his counselors 3272a have freely 5069 offered 5069 to the God 426 of Israel 3479, whose 1768 dwelling 4907b is in Jerusalem 3390,

 7:16 with all 3606 the silver 3702 and gold 1722 which 1768 you find 7912 in the whole 3606 province 4083 of Babylon 895, along 5973 with the freewill 5069 offering 5069 of the people 5972 and of the priests 3549, who offered 5069 willingly 5069 for the house 1005 of their God 426 which 1768 is in Jerusalem 3390;

 7:17 with this 1836 money 3702, therefore 3606 6903 1836, you shall diligently 629 buy 7066 bulls 8450, rams 1798 and lambs 563, with their grain offerings 4504 and their drink 5261 offerings 5261 and offer 7127 them on the altar 4056 of the house 1005 of your God 426 which 1768 is in Jerusalem 3390.

 7:18 “Whatever 4101 seems 3190 good 3191 to you and to your brothers 252 to do with the rest 7606 of the silver 3702 and gold 1722, you may do 5648 according to the will 7466b of your God 426.

 7:19 “Also the utensils 3984 which 1768 are given 3052 to you for the service 6402 of the house 1005 of your God 426, deliver 8000 in full 8000 before 6925 the God 426 of Jerusalem 3390.

 7:20 “The rest 7606 of the needs 2819b for the house 1005 of your God 426, for which 1768 you may have 5308 occasion 5308 to provide 5415, provide 5415 [for it] from the royal 4430 treasury 1596.

 7:21 ¶ “I, even I, King 4430 Artaxerxes 783b, issue 7761 a decree 2942 to all 3606 the treasurers 1490 who 1768 are [in the provinces] beyond 5675 the River 5103, that whatever 3606 1768 Ezra 5831 the priest 3549, the scribe 5613a of the law 1882 of the God 426 of heaven 8065, may require 7593 of you, it shall be done 5648 diligently 629,

 7:22 [even] up to 100 3967 talents 3604 of silver 3702, 100 3967 kors 3734b of wheat 2591a, 100 3967 baths 1325 of wine 2562, 100 3967 baths 1325 of oil 4887, and salt 4416 as needed 3792.

 7:23 “Whatever 3606 1768 is commanded 4481 2942 by the God 426 of heaven 8065, let it be done 5648 with zeal 149 for the house 1005 of the God 426 of heaven 8065, so 1768 that there will not be wrath 7109 against 5922 the kingdom 4437 of the king 4430 and his sons 1123.

 7:24 “We also inform 3046 you that it is not allowed 7990 to impose 7412 tax 4061, tribute 4061 or toll 1983 [on] any 3606 of the priests 3549, Levites 3879, singers 2171, doorkeepers 8652, Nethinim 5412 or servants 6399 of this 1836 house 1005 of God 426.

 7:25 ¶ “You, Ezra 5831, according to the wisdom 2452 of your God 426 which 1768 is in your hand 3028, appoint 4483 magistrates 8200 and judges 1782 that they may judge 1934 1778 all 3606 the people 5972 who 1768 are in [the province] beyond 5675 the River 5103, [even] all 3606 those who know 3046 the laws 1882 of your God 426; and you may teach 3046 anyone who 1768 is ignorant 3809 3046 [of them].

 7:26 “Whoever 3605 will not observe 5648 the law 1882 of your God 426 and the law 1882 of the king 4430, let judgment 1780 be executed 5648 upon him strictly 629, whether 2006 for death 4193 or 2006 for banishment 8332 or 2006 for confiscation 6065 of goods 5232 or for imprisonment 613.”

 7:27 ¶ Blessed 1288 be the LORD 3068, the God 430 of our fathers 1, who 834 has put 5414 [such a thing] as this 2088 in the king’s 4428 heart 3820, to adorn 6286 the house 1004 of the LORD 3068 which 834 is in Jerusalem 3389,

 7:28 and has extended 5186 lovingkindness 2617a to me before 6440 the king 4428 and his counselors 3289 and before all 3605 the king’s 4428 mighty 1368 princes 8269. Thus I was strengthened 2388 according to the hand 3027 of the LORD 3068 my God 430 upon me, and I gathered 6908 leading 7218 men 7218 from Israel 3478 to go 5927 up with me.
