Amos 2

1 God's wrath against Moab, 4 upon Judah, 6 and upon Israel. 9 God complaineth of their unfaithfulness.

 2:1 Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, “For three 7969 transgressions 6588 of Moab 4124 and for four 702 I will not revoke 7725 its [punishment], Because 5921 he burned 8313 the bones 6106 of the king 4428 of Edom 112b to lime 7875.

 2:2 “So I will send 7971 fire 784 upon Moab 4124 And it will consume 398 the citadels 759 of Kerioth 7152; And Moab 4124 will die 4191 amid tumult 7588, With war 8643 cries 8643 and the sound 6963 of a trumpet 7782.

 2:3 “I will also cut 3772 off 3772 the judge 8199 from her midst 7130 And slay 2026 all 3605 her princes 8269 with him,” says 559 the LORD 3068.

 2:4 ¶ Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, “For three 7969 transgressions 6588 of Judah 3063 and for four 702 I will not revoke 7725 its [punishment], Because 5921 they rejected 3988a the law 8451 of the LORD 3068 And have not kept 8104 His statutes 2706; Their lies 3577 also have led 8582 them astray 8582, Those after 310 which 834 their fathers 1 walked 1980.

 2:5 “So I will send 7971 fire 784 upon Judah 3063 And it will consume 398 the citadels 759 of Jerusalem 3389.”

 2:6 ¶ Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068, “For three 7969 transgressions 6588 of Israel 3478 and for four 702 I will not revoke 7725 its [punishment], Because 5921 they sell 4376 the righteous 6662 for money 3701 And the needy 34 for a pair of sandals 5275.

 2:7 “These who pant 7602b after 5921 the [very] dust 6083 of the earth 776 on the head 7218 of the helpless 1800b Also turn 5186 aside 5186 the way 1870 of the humble 6035; And a man 376 and his father 1 resort 1980 to the same girl 5291 In order 4616 to profane 2490c My holy 6944 name 8034.

 2:8 “On garments 899b taken 2254a as pledges 2254a they stretch 5186 out beside 681a every 3605 altar 4196, And in the house 1004 of their God 430 they drink 8354 the wine 3196 of those who have been fined 6064.

 2:9 ¶ “Yet it was I who destroyed 8045 the Amorite 567 before 4480 6440 them, Though his height 1363 [was] like the height 1363 of cedars 730 And he [was] strong 2634 as the oaks 437; I even destroyed 8045 his fruit 6529 above 4480 4605 and his root 8328 below 4480 8478.

 2:10 “It was I who brought 5927 you up from the land 776 of Egypt 4714, And I led 1980 you in the wilderness 4057b forty 705 years 8141 That you might take 3423 possession 3423 of the land 776 of the Amorite 567.

 2:11 “Then I raised 6965 up some 4480 of your sons 1121 to be prophets 5030 And some 4480 of your young 970 men 970 to be Nazirites 5139. Is this 2088 not so 637, O sons 1121 of Israel 3478?” declares 5002 the LORD 3068.

 2:12 “But you made the Nazirites 5139 drink 8248 wine 3196, And you commanded 6680 the prophets 5030 saying 559, ‘You shall not prophesy 5012!’

 2:13 “Behold 2009, I am weighted 5781 down 5781 beneath 8478 you As a wagon 5699 is weighted 5781 down 5781 when filled 4392 with sheaves 5995.

 2:14 “Flight 4498 will perish 6 from the swift 7031, And the stalwart 2389 will not strengthen 553 his power 3581b, Nor 3808 the mighty 1368 man 1368 save 4422 his life 5315.

 2:15 “He who grasps 8610 the bow 7198 will not stand 5975 [his ground], The swift 7031 of foot 7272 will not escape 4422, Nor 3808 will he who rides 7392 the horse 5483b save 4422 his life 5315.

 2:16 “Even the bravest 533 3820 among the warriors 1368 will flee 5127 naked 6174 in that day 3117,” declares 5002 the LORD 3068.
