2 Corinthians 5
1 That in his assured hope of immortal glory, 9 and in expectance of it, and of the general judgment, he laboureth to keep a good conscience, 12 not that he may herein boast of himself, 14 but as one that, having received life from Christ, endeavoureth to live as a new creature in Christ only, 18 and by his ministry of reconciliation to reconcile others also in Christ to God.
5:1
For we know 3609a that if 1437 the earthly 1919 tent 4636 which is our house 3624 is torn 2647 down 2647, we have 2192 a building 3619 from God 2316, a house 3624 not made 886 with hands 886, eternal 166 in the heavens 3772.
5:2
For indeed 2532 in this 3778 [house] we groan 4727, longing 1971 to be clothed 1902 with our dwelling 3613 from heaven 3772,
5:3
inasmuch 1489 as we, having put 1746a it on, will not be found 2147 naked 1131.
5:4
For indeed 2532 while we are in this 3588 tent 4636, we groan 4727, being burdened 916, because 1909 3739 we do not want 2309 to be unclothed 1562 but to be clothed 1902, so 2443 that what 2349 is mortal 2349 will be swallowed 2666 up by life 2222.
5:5
Now 1161 He who prepared 2716 us for this 3778 very 846 purpose is God 2316, who gave 1325 to us the Spirit 4151 as a pledge 728.
5:6
¶ Therefore 3767, being always 3842 of good 2292 courage 2292, and knowing 3609a that while we are at home 1736 in the body 4983 we are absent 1553 from the Lord 2962—
5:7
for we walk 4043 by faith 4102, not by sight 1491b—
5:8
we are of good 2292 courage 2292, I say, and prefer 2106 rather 3123 to be absent 1553 from the body 4983 and to be at home 1736 with the Lord 2962.
5:9
Therefore 1352 we also 2532 have 5389 as our ambition 5389, whether 1535a at home 1736 or 1535a absent 1553, to be pleasing 2101 to Him.
5:10
For we must 1163 all 3956 appear 5319 before 1715 the judgment 968 seat 968 of Christ 5547, so 2443 that each 1538 one 1538 may be recompensed 2865 for his deeds in the body 4983, according 4314 to what 3739 he has done 4238, whether 1535a good 18 or 1535a bad 5337.
5:11
¶ Therefore 3767, knowing 3609a the fear 5401 of the Lord 2962, we persuade 3982 men 444, but we are made 5319 manifest 5319 to God 2316; and I hope 1679 that we are made 5319 manifest 5319 also 2532 in your consciences 4893.
5:12
We are not again 3825 commending 4921 ourselves 1438 to you but [are] giving 1325 you an occasion 874 to be proud 2745 of us, so 2443 that you will have 2192 [an answer] for those 3588 who take 2744 pride 2744 in appearance 4383 and not in heart 2588.
5:13
For if 1535a we are beside 1839 ourselves 1839, it is for God 2316; if 1535a we are of sound 4993 mind 4993, it is for you.
5:14
For the love 26 of Christ 5547 controls 4912 us, having concluded 2919 this 3778, that one 1520 died 599 for all 3956, therefore 686 all 3956 died 599;
5:15
and He died 599 for all 3956, so 2443 that they who live 2198 might no 3371 longer 3371 live 2198 for themselves 1438, but for Him who died 599 and rose 1453 again 1453 on their behalf 5228.
5:16
¶ Therefore 5620 from now 3568 on we recognize 3609a no 3762 one 3762 according 2596 to the flesh 4561; even 2532 though 1487 we have known 1097 Christ 5547 according 2596 to the flesh 4561, yet 235 now 3568 we know 1097 [Him in this way] no 3765 longer 3765.
5:17
Therefore 5620 if 1487 anyone 5100 is in Christ 5547, [he is] a new 2537 creature 2937; the old 744 things 744 passed 3928 away 3928; behold 2400, new 2537 things 2537 have come 1096.
5:18
Now 1161 all 3956 [these] things 3956 are from God 2316, who 3588 reconciled 2644 us to Himself 1438 through 1223 Christ 5547 and gave 1325 us the ministry 1248 of reconciliation 2643,
5:19
namely 5613, that God 2316 was in Christ 5547 reconciling 2644 the world 2889 to Himself 1438, not counting 3049 their trespasses 3900 against them, and He has committed 5087 to us the word 3056 of reconciliation 2643.
5:20
¶ Therefore 3767, we are ambassadors 4243 for Christ 5547, as though 5613 God 2316 were making 3870 an appeal 3870 through 1223 us; we beg 1189a you on behalf 5228 of Christ 5547, be reconciled 2644 to God 2316.
5:21
He made 4160 Him who knew 1097 no 3361 sin 266 [to be] sin 266 on our behalf 5228, so 2443 that we might become 1096 the righteousness 1343 of God 2316 in Him.
