2 Corinthians 2

1 Having shewed the reason why he came not to them, 6 he requireth them to forgive and to comfort that excommunicated person, 10 even as himself also upon his true repentance had forgiven him: 12 declaring withal why he departeth from Troas to Macedonia, 14 and the happy success which God gave to his preaching in all places.

 2:1 But I determined 2919 this 3778 for my own 1683 sake 1683, that I would not come 2064 to you in sorrow 3077 again 3825.

 2:2 For if 1487 I cause 3076 you sorrow 3076, who 5101 then 2532 makes 2165 me glad 2165 but the one whom I made 3076 sorrowful 3076?

 2:3 This 3778 is the very 846 thing 846 I wrote 1125 you, so 2443 3361 that when I came 2064, I would not have 2192 sorrow 3077 from those who 3739 ought 1163 to make 1163 me rejoice 5463; having 3982 confidence 3982 in you all 3956 that my joy 5479 would be [the joy] of you all 3956.

 2:4 For out of much 4183 affliction 2347 and anguish 4928 of heart 2588 I wrote 1125 to you with many 4183 tears 1144; not so 2443 that you would be made 3076 sorrowful 3076, but that you might know 1097 the love 26 which 3739 I have 2192 especially 4053 for you.

 2:5 ¶ But if 1487 any 5100 has caused 3076 sorrow 3076, he has caused 3076 sorrow 3076 not to me, but in some 3313 degree 3313—in order 2443 not to say 1912 too 1912 much 1912—to all 3956 of you.

 2:6 Sufficient 2425 for such 5108 a one 5108 is this 3778 punishment 2009 which [was inflicted] by the majority 4183,

 2:7 so 5620 that on the contrary 5121 you should rather 3123 forgive 5483 and comfort 3870 [him], otherwise 3381 such 5108 a one 5108 might be overwhelmed 2666 by excessive 4053 sorrow 3077.

 2:8 Wherefore 1352 I urge 3870 you to reaffirm 2964 [your] love 26 for him.

 2:9 For to this 3778 end also 2532 I wrote 1125, so 2443 that I might put 1097 you to the test 1382, whether 1487 you are obedient 5255 in all 3956 things 3956.

 2:10 But one 5100 whom 3739 you forgive 5483 anything 5100, I [forgive] also 2532; for indeed 2532 what 3739 I have forgiven 5483, if 1487 I have forgiven 5483 anything 5100, [I did it] for your sakes 1223 in the presence 4383 of Christ 5547,

 2:11 so 2443 that no 3361 advantage 4122 would be taken 4122 of us by Satan 4567, for we are not ignorant 50 of his schemes 3540.

 2:12 ¶ Now 1161 when I came 2064 to Troas 5174 for the gospel 2098 of Christ 5547 and when a door 2374 was opened 455 for me in the Lord 2962,

 2:13 I had 2192 no 3756 rest 425 for my spirit 4151, not finding 2147 Titus 5103 my brother 80; but taking 657 my leave 657 of them, I went 1831 on to Macedonia 3109.

 2:14 ¶ But thanks 5485 be to God 2316, who always 3842 leads 2358 us in triumph 2358 in Christ 5547, and manifests 5319 through 1223 us the sweet 3744 aroma 3744 of the knowledge 1108 of Him in every 3956 place 5117.

 2:15 For we are a fragrance 2175 of Christ 5547 to God 2316 among 1722 those 3588 who are being saved 4982 and among 1722 those 3588 who are perishing 622;

 2:16 to the one 3739 3303a an aroma 3744 from death 2288 to death 2288, to the other 3739 an aroma 3744 from life 2222 to life 2222. And who 5101 is adequate 2425 for these 3778 things 3778?

 2:17 For we are not like 5613 many 4183, peddling 2585 the word 3056 of God 2316, but as from sincerity 1505, but as from God 2316, we speak 2980 in Christ 5547 in the sight 2713 of God 2316.
