1 John 5

1 He that loveth God loveth God's children, and keepeth his Commandments: 3 which to the faithful are light, and not grievous. 9 Jesus is the Son of God, able to save us, 14 and to hear our prayers, which we make for ourselves, and for others.

5:1 Whoever 3956 believes 4100 that Jesus 2424 is the Christ 5547 is born 1080 of God 2316, and whoever 3956 loves 25 the Father 1080 loves 25 the [child] born 1080 of Him.

5:2 By this 3778 we know 1097 that we love 25 the children 5043 of God 2316, when 3752 we love 25 God 2316 and observe 4160 His commandments 1785.

5:3 For this 3778 is the love 26 of God 2316, that we keep 5083 His commandments 1785; and His commandments 1785 are not burdensome 926.

5:4 For whatever 3956 is born 1080 of God 2316 overcomes 3528 the world 2889; and this 3778 is the victory 3529 that has overcome 3528 the world 2889—our faith 4102.

5:5 ¶ Who 5101 is the one who overcomes 3528 the world 2889, but he who believes 4100 that Jesus 2424 is the Son 5207 of God 2316?

5:6 This 3778 is the One who came 2064 by water 5204 and blood 129, Jesus 2424 Christ 5547; not with the water 5204 only 3440, but with the water 5204 and with the blood 129. It is the Spirit 4151 who testifies 3140, because 3754 the Spirit 4151 is the truth 225.

5:7 For there 1510 are three 5140 that testify 3140:

5:8 the Spirit 4151 and the water 5204 and the blood 129; and the three 5140 are in agreement 1520.

5:9 If 1487 we receive 2983 the testimony 3141 of men 444, the testimony 3141 of God 2316 is greater 3173; for the testimony 3141 of God 2316 is this 3778, that He has testified 3140 concerning 4012 His Son 5207.

5:10 The one who believes 4100 in the Son 5207 of God 2316 has 2192 the testimony 3141 in himself 846; the one who does not believe 4100 God 2316 has made 4160 Him a liar 5583, because 3754 he has not believed 4100 in the testimony 3141 that God 2316 has given 3140 concerning 4012 His Son 5207.

5:11 And the testimony 3141 is this 3778, that God 2316 has given 1325 us eternal 166 life 2222, and this 3778 life 2222 is in His Son 5207.

5:12 He who has 2192 the Son 5207 has 2192 the life 2222; he who does not have 2192 the Son 5207 of God 2316 does not have 2192 the life 2222.

5:13 ¶ These 3778 things 3778 I have written 1125 to you who believe 4100 in the name 3686 of the Son 5207 of God 2316, so 2443 that you may know 3609a that you have 2192 eternal 166 life 2222.

5:14 This 3778 is the confidence 3954 which 3739 we have 2192 before 4314 Him, that, if 1437 we ask 154 anything 5100 according 2596 to His will 2307, He hears 191 us.

5:15 And if 1437 we know 3609a that He hears 191 us [in] whatever 3739 1437 we ask 154, we know 3609a that we have 2192 the requests 155 which 3739 we have asked 154 from Him.

5:16 ¶ If 1437 anyone 5100 sees 3708 his brother 80 committing 264 a sin 266 not [leading] to death 2288, he shall ask 154 and [God] will for him give 1325 life 2222 to those 3588 who commit 264 sin 264 not [leading] to death 2288. There is a sin 266 [leading] to death 2288; I do not say 3004 that he should make 2065 request 2065 for this 1565.

5:17 All 3956 unrighteousness 93 is sin 266, and there is a sin 266 not [leading] to death 2288.

5:18 ¶ We know 3609a that no 3956 3756 one 3956 who is born 1080 of God 2316 sins 264; but He who was born 1080 of God 2316 keeps 5083 him, and the evil 4190 one 4190 does not touch 681 him.

5:19 We know 3609a that we are of God 2316, and that the whole 3650 world 2889 lies 2749 in [the power of] the evil 4190 one 4190.

5:20 And we know 3609a that the Son 5207 of God 2316 has 2240 come 2240, and has given 1325 us understanding 1271 so 2443 that we may know 1097 Him who 228 is true 228; and we are in Him who 228 is true 228, in His Son 5207 Jesus 2424 Christ 5547. This 3778 is the true 228 God 2316 and eternal 166 life 2222.
