1 John 3

1 He declareth the singular love of God towards us, in making us his sons: 3 who therefore ought obediently to keep his Commandments, 11 as also brotherly to love one another.

 3:1 See 3708 how 4217 great 4217 a love 26 the Father 3962 has bestowed 1325 on us, that we would be called 2564 children 5043 of God 2316; and [such] we are. For this 3778 reason 1223 the world 2889 does not know 1097 us, because 3754 it did not know 1097 Him.

 3:2 Beloved 27, now 3568 we are children 5043 of God 2316, and it has not appeared 5319 as yet 3768 what 5101 we will be. We know 3609a that when 1437 He appears 5319, we will be like 3664 Him, because 3754 we will see 3708 Him just 2531a as He is.

 3:3 And everyone 3956 who has 2192 this 3778 hope 1680 [fixed] on Him purifies 48 himself 1438, just 2531a as He is pure 53.

 3:4 ¶ Everyone 3956 who practices 4160 sin 266 also 2532 practices 4160 lawlessness 458; and sin 266 is lawlessness 458.

 3:5 You know 3609a that He appeared 5319 in order 2443 to take 142 away 142 sins 266; and in Him there is no 3756 sin 266.

 3:6 No 3956 3756 one 3956 who abides 3306 in Him sins 264; no 3956 3756 one 3956 who sins 264 has seen 3708 Him or 3761 knows 1097 Him.

 3:7 Little 5040 children 5040, make sure no 3367 one 3367 deceives 4105 you; the one who practices 4160 righteousness 1343 is righteous 1342, just 2531a as He is righteous 1342;

 3:8 the one who practices 4160 sin 266 is of the devil 1228; for the devil 1228 has sinned 264 from the beginning 746. The Son 5207 of God 2316 appeared 5319 for this 3778 purpose, to destroy 3089 the works 2041 of the devil 1228.

 3:9 No 3956 3756 one 3956 who is born 1080 of God 2316 practices 4160 sin 266, because 3754 His seed 4690 abides 3306 in him; and he cannot 1410 3756 sin 264, because 3754 he is born 1080 of God 2316.

 3:10 By this 3778 the children 5043 of God 2316 and the children 5043 of the devil 1228 are obvious 5318: anyone 3956 who does not practice 4160 righteousness 1343 is not of God 2316, nor 2532 the one who does not love 25 his brother 80.

 3:11 ¶ For this 3778 is the message 31a which 3739 you have heard 191 from the beginning 746, that we should love 25 one 240 another 240;

 3:12 not as Cain 2535, [who] was of the evil 4190 one 4190 and slew 4969 his brother 80. And for what 5101 reason 5484 did he slay 4969 him? Because 3754 his deeds 2041 were evil 4190, and his brother’s 80 were righteous 1342.

 3:13 ¶ Do not be surprised 2296, brethren 80, if 1487 the world 2889 hates 3404 you.

 3:14 We know 3609a that we have passed 3327 out of death 2288 into life 2222, because 3754 we love 25 the brethren 80. He who does not love 25 abides 3306 in death 2288.

 3:15 Everyone 3956 who hates 3404 his brother 80 is a murderer 443; and you know 3609a that no 3956 3756 murderer 443 has 2192 eternal 166 life 2222 abiding 3306 in him.

 3:16 We know 1097 love 26 by this 3778, that He laid 5087 down 5087 His life 5590 for us; and we ought 3784 to lay 5087 down 5087 our lives 5590 for the brethren 80.

 3:17 But whoever 3739 302 has 2192 the world’s 2889 goods 979, and sees 2334 his brother 80 in need 5532 and closes 2808 his heart 4698 against 575 him, how 4459 does the love 26 of God 2316 abide 3306 in him?

 3:18 Little 5040 children 5040, let us not love 25 with word 3056 or 3366 with tongue 1100, but in deed 2041 and truth 225.

 3:19 We will know 1097 by this 3778 that we are of the truth 225, and will assure 3982 our heart 2588 before 1715 Him

 3:20 in whatever 3739 5100 1437 our heart 2588 condemns 2607 us; for God 2316 is greater 3173 than our heart 2588 and knows 1097 all 3956 things 3956.

 3:21 Beloved 27, if 1437 our heart 2588 does not condemn 2607 us, we have 2192 confidence 3954 before 4314 God 2316;

 3:22 and whatever 3739 1437 we ask 154 we receive 2983 from Him, because 3754 we keep 5083 His commandments 1785 and do 4160 the things that are pleasing 701 in His sight 1799.

 3:23 ¶ This 3778 is His commandment 1785, that we believe 4100 in the name 3686 of His Son 5207 Jesus 2424 Christ 5547, and love 25 one 240 another 240, just 2531a as He commanded 1325 1785 us.

 3:24 The one who keeps 5083 His commandments 1785 abides 3306 in Him, and He in him. We know 1097 by this 3778 that He abides 3306 in us, by the Spirit 4151 whom 3739 He has given 1325 us.
