1 John 4

1 He warneth them not to believe all teachers, who boast of the Spirit, but to try them by the rules of the catholick faith: 7 and by many reasons exhorteth to brotherly love.

 4:1 Beloved 27, do not believe 4100 every 3956 spirit 4151, but test 1381a the spirits 4151 to see whether 1487 they are from God 2316, because 3754 many 4183 false 5578 prophets 5578 have gone 1831 out into the world 2889.

 4:2 By this 3778 you know 1097 the Spirit 4151 of God 2316: every 3956 spirit 4151 that confesses 3670 that Jesus 2424 Christ 5547 has come 2064 in the flesh 4561 is from God 2316;

 4:3 and every 3956 spirit 4151 that does not confess 3670 Jesus 2424 is not from God 2316; this 3778 is the [spirit] of the antichrist 500, of which 3739 you have heard 191 that it is coming 2064, and now 3568 it is already 2235 in the world 2889.

 4:4 You are from God 2316, little 5040 children 5040, and have overcome 3528 them; because 3754 greater 3173 is He who is in you than 2228 he who is in the world 2889.

 4:5 They are from the world 2889; therefore 1223 3778 they speak 2980 [as] from the world 2889, and the world 2889 listens 191 to them.

 4:6 We are from God 2316; he who knows 1097 God 2316 listens 191 to us; he who 3739 is not from God 2316 does not listen 191 to us. By this 3778 we know 1097 the spirit 4151 of truth 225 and the spirit 4151 of error 4106.

 4:7 ¶ Beloved 27, let us love 25 one 240 another 240, for love 26 is from God 2316; and everyone 3956 who loves 25 is born 1080 of God 2316 and knows 1097 God 2316.

 4:8 The one who does not love 25 does not know 1097 God 2316, for God 2316 is love 26.

 4:9 By this 3778 the love 26 of God 2316 was manifested 5319 in us, that God 2316 has sent 649 His only 3439 begotten 3439 Son 5207 into the world 2889 so 2443 that we might live 2198 through 1223 Him.

 4:10 In this 3778 is love 26, not that we loved 25 God 2316, but that He loved 25 us and sent 649 His Son 5207 [to be] the propitiation 2434 for our sins 266.

 4:11 Beloved 27, if 1487 God 2316 so 3779 loved 25 us, we also 2532 ought 3784 to love 25 one 240 another 240.

 4:12 No 3762 one 3762 has seen 2300 God 2316 at any 4455 time 4455; if 1437 we love 25 one 240 another 240, God 2316 abides 3306 in us, and His love 26 is perfected 5048 in us.

 4:13 By this 3778 we know 1097 that we abide 3306 in Him and He in us, because 3754 He has given 1325 us of His Spirit 4151.

 4:14 We have seen 2300 and testify 3140 that the Father 3962 has sent 649 the Son 5207 [to be] the Savior 4990 of the world 2889.

 4:15 ¶ Whoever 3739 1437 confesses 3670 that Jesus 2424 is the Son 5207 of God 2316, God 2316 abides 3306 in him, and he in God 2316.

 4:16 We have come 1097 to know 1097 and have believed 4100 the love 26 which 3739 God 2316 has 2192 for us. God 2316 is love 26, and the one who abides 3306 in love 26 abides 3306 in God 2316, and God 2316 abides 3306 in him.

 4:17 By this 3778, love 26 is perfected 5048 with us, so that we may have 2192 confidence 3954 in the day 2250 of judgment 2920; because 3754 as He is, so also 2532 are we in this 3778 world 2889.

 4:18 There is no 3756 fear 5401 in love 26; but perfect 5046 love 26 casts 906 out fear 5401, because 3754 fear 5401 involves 2192 punishment 2851, and the one who fears 5399 is not perfected 5048 in love 26.

 4:19 We love 25, because 3754 He first 4413 loved 25 us.

 4:20 If 1437 someone 5100 says 3004, “I love 25 God 2316,” and hates 3404 his brother 80, he is a liar 5583; for the one who does not love 25 his brother 80 whom 3739 he has seen 3708, cannot 1410 3756 love 25 God 2316 whom 3739 he has not seen 3708.

 4:21 And this 3778 commandment 1785 we have 2192 from Him, that the one who loves 25 God 2316 should love 25 his brother 80 also 2532.
