Song of Songs 5

1 Christ awaketh the Church with his calling. 2 The Church having a taste of Christ's love is sick of love. 9 A description of Christ by his graces.

 5:1 “I have come 935 into my garden 1588, my sister 269, [my] bride 3618; I have gathered 717 my myrrh 4753 along 5973 with my balsam 1314. I have eaten 398 my honeycomb 3293b and my honey 1706; I have drunk 8354 my wine 3196 and my milk 2461. Eat 398, friends 7453; Drink 8354 and imbibe 7937 deeply 7937, O lovers 1730.”

 5:2 ¶ “I was asleep 3463 but my heart 3820 was awake 5782. A voice 6963! My beloved 1730 was knocking 1849: ‘Open 6605a to me, my sister 269, my darling 7474, My dove 3123, my perfect 8535 one 8535! For my head 7218 is drenched 4390 with dew 2919, My locks 6977 with the damp 7447a of the night 3915.’

 5:3 “I have taken 6584 off 6584 my dress 3801, How 351c can I put 3847 it on [again]? I have washed 7364 my feet 7272, How 351c can I dirty 2936 them [again]?

 5:4 “My beloved 1730 extended 7971 his hand 3027 through 4480 the opening 2356, And my feelings 4578 were aroused 1993 for him.

 5:5 “I arose 6965 to open 6605a to my beloved 1730; And my hands 3027 dripped 5197 with myrrh 4753, And my fingers 676 with liquid 5674a myrrh 4753, On the handles 3709 of the bolt 4514.

 5:6 “I opened 6605a to my beloved 1730, But my beloved 1730 had turned 2559 away 2559 [and] had gone 5674a! My heart 5315 went 3318 out [to him] as he spoke 1696. I searched 1245 for him but I did not find 4672 him; I called 7121 him but he did not answer 6030a me.

 5:7 “The watchmen 8104 who make 5437 the rounds 5437 in the city 5892b found 4672 me, They struck 5221 me [and] wounded 6481 me; The guardsmen 8104 of the walls 2346 took 5375 away my shawl 7289 from me.

 5:8 “I adjure 7650 you, O daughters 1323 of Jerusalem 3389, If 518 you find 4672 my beloved 1730, As to what 4100 you will tell 5046 him: For I am lovesick 2470a 160.”

 5:9 ¶ “What 4100 kind of beloved 1730 is your beloved 1730, O most beautiful 3303 among women 802? What 4100 kind of beloved 1730 is your beloved 1730, That thus 3602 you adjure 7650 us?”

 5:10 ¶ “My beloved 1730 is dazzling 6703 and ruddy 122, Outstanding 1713a among 4480 ten 7233 thousand 7233.

 5:11 “His head 7218 is [like] gold 3800, pure 6337 gold 6337; His locks 6977 are [like] clusters 8534 of dates 8534 [And] black 7838 as a raven 6158.

 5:12 “His eyes 5869 are like doves 3123 Beside 5921 streams 650 of water 4325, Bathed 7364 in milk 2461, [And] reposed 3427 in [their] setting 4402.

 5:13 “His cheeks 3895 are like a bed 6170 of balsam 1314, Banks 4026 of sweet-scented 4840 herbs 4840; His lips 8193 are lilies 7799 Dripping 5197 with liquid 5674a myrrh 4753.

 5:14 “His hands 3027 are rods 1551 of gold 2091 Set 4390 with beryl 8658; His abdomen 4578 is carved 6247 ivory 8127 Inlaid 5968 with sapphires 5601.

 5:15 “His legs 7785 are pillars 5982 of alabaster 8337b Set 3245 on pedestals 134 of pure 6337 gold 6337; His appearance 4758 is like Lebanon 3844 Choice 977 as the cedars 730.

 5:16 “His mouth 2441 is [full of] sweetness 4477. And he is wholly 3605 desirable 4261. This 2088 is my beloved 1730 and this 2088 is my friend 7453, O daughters 1323 of Jerusalem 3389.”
