Galatians 2

1 He sheweth when he went up again to Jerusalem, and for what purpose: 3 and that Titus was not circumcised: 11 and that he resisted Peter, and told him the reason, 14 why he and others, being Jews, do believe in Christ to be justified by faith, and not by works: 20 and that they live not in sin, who are so justified.

 2:1 Then 1899 after 1223 an interval of fourteen 1180 years 2094 I went 305 up again 3825 to Jerusalem 2414 with Barnabas 921, taking 4838 Titus 5103 along 4838 also 2532.

 2:2 It was because 2596 of a revelation 602 that I went 305 up; and I submitted 394 to them the gospel 2098 which 3739 I preach 2784 among 1722 the Gentiles 1484, but [I did so] in private 2596 2398 to those 3588 who were of reputation 1380, for fear 3381 that I might be running 5143, or 2228 had run 5143, in vain 2756.

 2:3 But not even 3761 Titus 5103, who 3588 was with me, though he was a Greek 1672, was compelled 315 to be circumcised 4059.

 2:4 But [it was] because 1223 of the false 5569 brethren 5569 secretly 3920 brought 3920 in, who had sneaked 3920 in to spy 2684 out our liberty 1657 which 3739 we have 2192 in Christ 5547 Jesus 2424, in order 2443 to bring 2615 us into bondage 2615.

 2:5 But we did not yield 1502 in subjection 5292 to them for even 3761 an hour 5610, so 2443 that the truth 225 of the gospel 2098 would remain 1265 with you.

 2:6 But from those 3588 who were of high 5100 reputation 1380 (what 3697 they were makes 1308 no 3762 difference 1308 to me; God 2316 shows 2983 no 3756 partiality 4383)—well 1063, those 3588 who were of reputation 1380 contributed 4323 nothing 3762 to me.

 2:7 But on the contrary 5121, seeing 3708 that I had been entrusted 4100 with the gospel 2098 to the uncircumcised 203, just 2531a as Peter 4074 [had been] to the circumcised 4061

 2:8 (for He who effectually 1754 worked 1754 for Peter 4074 in [his] apostleship 651 to the circumcised 4061 effectually 1754 worked 1754 for me also 2532 to the Gentiles 1484),

 2:9 and recognizing 1097 the grace 5485 that had been given 1325 to me, James 2385 and Cephas 2786 and John 2491, who were reputed 1380 to be pillars 4769, gave 1325 to me and Barnabas 921 the right 1188 hand 1188 of fellowship 2842, so 2443 that we [might] [go] to the Gentiles 1484 and they to the circumcised 4061.

 2:10 [They] only 3440 [asked] us to remember 3421 the poor 4434—the very 846 thing 846 I also 2532 was eager 4704 to do 4160.

 2:11 ¶ But when 3753 Cephas 2786 came 2064 to Antioch 490, I opposed 436 him to his face 4383, because 3754 he stood condemned 2607.

 2:12 For prior 4253 to the coming 2064 of certain 5100 men 5100 from James 2385, he used to eat 4906 with the Gentiles 1484; but when 3753 they came 2064, he [began] to withdraw 5288 and hold 873 himself 1438 aloof 873, fearing 5399 the party of the circumcision 4061.

 2:13 The rest 3062 of the Jews 2453 joined 4942 him in hypocrisy 4942, with the result 5620 that even 2532 Barnabas 921 was carried 4879 away 4879 by their hypocrisy 5272.

 2:14 But when 3753 I saw 3708 that they were not straightforward 3716 about 4314 the truth 225 of the gospel 2098, I said 3004 to Cephas 2786 in the presence 1715 of all 3956, “If 1487 you, being 5225 a Jew 2453, live 2198 like 1483 the Gentiles 1483 and not like 2452 the Jews 2452, how 4459 [is it that] you compel 315 the Gentiles 1484 to live 2450 like 2450 Jews 2450?

 2:15 ¶ “We [are] Jews 2453 by nature 5449 and not sinners 268 from among 1537 the Gentiles 1484;

 2:16 nevertheless 1161 knowing 3609a that a man 444 is not justified 1344 by the works 2041 of the Law 3551 but through 1223 faith 4102 in Christ 5547 Jesus 2424, even 2532 we have believed 4100 in Christ 5547 Jesus 2424, so 2443 that we may be justified 1344 by faith 4102 in Christ 5547 and not by the works 2041 of the Law 3551; since 3754 by the works 2041 of the Law 3551 no 3756 3956 flesh 4561 will be justified 1344.

 2:17 “But if 1487, while seeking 2212 to be justified 1344 in Christ 5547, we ourselves 846 have also 2532 been found 2147 sinners 268, is Christ 5547 then 686 a minister 1249 of sin 266? May it never 3361 be!

 2:18 “For if 1487 I rebuild 3618 what 3739 I have [once] destroyed 2647, I prove 4921 myself 1683 to be a transgressor 3848.

 2:19 “For through 1223 the Law 3551 I died 599 to the Law 3551, so 2443 that I might live 2198 to God 2316.

 2:20 “I have been crucified 4957 with Christ 5547; and it is no 3765 longer 3765 I who live 2198, but Christ 5547 lives 2198 in me; and the [life] which 3739 I now 3568 live 2198 in the flesh 4561 I live 2198 by faith 4102 in the Son 5207 of God 2316, who loved 25 me and gave 3860 Himself 1438 up for me.

 2:21 “I do not nullify 114 the grace 5485 of God 2316, for if 1487 righteousness 1343 [comes] through 1223 the Law 3551, then 686 Christ 5547 died 599 needlessly 1431.”
