[were] in
Yæhûđà
יְהוּדָה°
and
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם°
in the name°
of the
´Éläh
אֱלָה°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,°
[even] unto°
them. |

Then the prophets, Chaggay the prophet, and Zekharyah the son of Iddo, prophesied unto the Yehudaye that [were] in Yehudah and Yerushalaim in the name of the Elah of Yisrael, [even] unto them. |

שְׁאַלתִּיאֵל,°
and

the son°

the house°
of
´Éläh
אֱלָה°
which°
[is] at
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם:°
and with°
them°
[were] the prophets°
of°
´Éläh
אֱלָה°
helping°°
them. |

Then rose up Zerubbavel the son of Shealtiel, and Yeshua the son of Yotzadaq, and began to build the house of Elah which [is] at Yerushalaim: and with them [were] the prophets of Elah helping them. |

At the same time°
came°°
to°
them

תַּתְּנַי,°
governor°
on this side°
the river,°
and
Šæŧar Bôznay
שְׁתַר־בּוֹזנַי,°
and their companions,°
and said°°
thus°
unto them,°
Who°
hath commanded°°°
you to build°°
this°
house,°
and to make up°°
this°
wall?° |

At the same time came to them Tattenay, governor on this side the river, and Shethar-Boznay, and their companions, and said thus unto them, Who hath commanded you to build this house, and to make up this wall? |

we unto them after this manner,°

the names°
of the men°
that°
make°°
this°
building?° |

Then said we unto them after this manner, What are the names of the men that make this building? |

that they could not°
cause°°
them°
to cease,°°
till°
the matter°
came°°
to

דָּריָוֶשׁ:°
and then°
they returned answer°°
by letter°
concerning°
this°
[matter]. |

But the eye of their Elah was upon the elders of the Yehudaye, that they could not cause them to cease, till the matter came to Daryawesh: and then they returned answer by letter concerning this [matter]. |

stones,°
and timber°

Be it known unto the king, that we went into the province of Yehud, to the house of the great Elah, which is builded with great stones, and timber is laid in the walls, and this work goeth fast on, and prospereth in their hands. |

we those°
elders,°°
[and] said°°
unto them thus,°
Who°
commanded°°°
you to build°°
this°
house,°
and to make up°°
these°
walls?° |

Then asked we those elders, [and] said unto them thus, Who commanded you to build this house, and to make up these walls? |

We asked°°
their names°
also,°
to certify°°
thee, that°
we might write°°
the names°
of the men°
that°
[were] the chief°
of them. |

We asked their names also, to certify thee, that we might write the names of the men that [were] the chief of them. |

us answer,°

We°
are°
the servants°
of°
the
´Éläh
אֱלָה°
of heaven°
and earth,°
and build°°
the house°
that°
was°°
builded°°
these°
many°
years°
ago,°°
which a great°
king°
of
Yiŝrä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל°
builded°°
and set up.°° |

And thus they returned us answer, saying, We are the servants of the Elah of heaven and earth, and build the house that was builded these many years ago, which a great king of Yisrael builded and set up. |

our fathers°
had provoked°°
the
´Éläh
אֱלָה°
of heaven°
unto wrath,°°°°
he gave°°
them°
into the hand°
of
Nævûȼađne´xxar
נְבוּכַדנֶאצַּר°
the king°

Bävel
בָּבֶל,°
the
Casdäy
כַּסדָּי,°
who destroyed°°
this°
house,°
and carried°°
the people°
away°°°
into
Bävel

But after that our fathers had provoked the Elah of heaven unto wrath, he gave them into the hand of Nevukhadnetztzar the king of Bavel, the Kasday, who destroyed this house, and carried the people away into Bavel. |

the temple°

the king°

the temple°

And the vessels also of gold and silver of the house of Elah, which Nevukhadnetztzar took out of the temple that [was] in Yerushalaim, and brought them into the temple of Bavel, those did Koresh the king take out of the temple of Bavel, and they were delivered unto [one], whose name [was] Sheshbatztzar, whom he had made governor; |

vessels,°
go,°°
carry°°
them°
into the temple°
that°
[is] in
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם,°
and let the house°
of
´Éläh
אֱלָה°
be builded°°
in°
his place.° |

And said unto him, Take these vessels, go, carry them into the temple that [is] in Yerushalaim, and let the house of Elah be builded in his place. |

Then°
came°°
the same°

[and] laid°°

the house°

which°

Yærûšälaim

Then came the same Sheshbatztzar, [and] laid the foundation of the house of Elah which [is] in Yerushalaim: and since that time even until now hath it been in building, and [yet] it is not finished. |

therefore, if°
[it seem] good°
to°
the king,°
let there be search°°
made°
in the king's°
treasure°
house,°
which°
[is] there°
at
Bävel
בָּבֶל,°
whether°
it be°
[so], that°

his pleasure°

us concerning°

Now therefore, if [it seem] good to the king, let there be search made in the king's treasure house, which [is] there at Bavel, whether it be [so], that a decree was made of Koresh the king to build this house of Elah at Yerushalaim, and let the king send his pleasure to us concerning this matter. |
