 10:1 ¶ Now when `Ezrà עֶזרָה° had prayed,°° and when he had confessed,°° weeping°° and casting himself down°° before° the house° of ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים,° there assembled°° unto° him out of Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל°° a very° great° congregation° of men°° and women° and children:° for° the people° wept°° very°° sore.°°

 10:1 ¶ Now when Ezrah had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the house of Elohim, there assembled unto him out of Yisrael a very great congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept very sore.

 10:2 And Šæȼanyà שְׁכַניָה° the son° of Yæ`î´ël יְעִיאֵל,° [one] of the sons°° of `Êläm עֵילָם,° answered°° and said°° unto `Ezrà עֶזרָה,° We° have trespassed°° against our ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים,° and have taken°° strange° wives° of the people°° of the land:° yet now° there is° hope° in Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל° concerning° this° thing.

 10:2 And Shekhanyah the son of Yeiel, [one] of the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezrah, We have trespassed against our Elohim, and have taken strange wives of the people of the land: yet now there is hope in Yisrael concerning this thing.

 10:3 Now° therefore let us make°° a covenant° with our ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים° to put away°° all° the wives,° and such as are born°° of° them, according to the counsel° of Yähwè יָהוֶה,° and of those that tremble° at the commandment° of our ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים;° and let it be done°° according to the law.°

 10:3 Now therefore let us make a covenant with our Elohim to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of Yahweh, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our Elohim; and let it be done according to the law.

 10:4 Arise;°° for° [this] matter° [belongeth] unto° thee: we° also [will be] with° thee: be of good courage,°° and do°° [it].

 10:6 ¶ Then `Ezrà עֶזרָה° rose up°° from before°° the house° of ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים,° and went°°° into° the chamber° of Yôçänän יוֹחָנָן° the son° of ´Elyäšîv אֶליָשִׁיב:° and [when] he came°°° thither,° he did eat°° no° bread,° nor° drink°° water:° for° he mourned°° because° of the transgression° of them that had been carried away.°

 10:6 ¶ Then Ezrah rose up from before the house of Elohim, and went into the chamber of Yochanan the son of Elyashiv: and [when] he came thither, he did eat no bread, nor drink water: for he mourned because of the transgression of them that had been carried away.

 10:7 And they made proclamation°°° throughout Yæhûđà יְהוּדָה° and Yærûšälaim יְרוּשָׁלִַם° unto all° the children° of the captivity,° that they should gather themselves together°° unto Yærûšälaim יְרוּשָׁלִַם;°

 10:9 ¶ Then all the men of Yehudah and Binyamin gathered themselves together unto Yerushalaim within three days. It [was] the ninth month, on the twentieth [day] of the month; and all the people sat in the street of the house of Elohim, trembling because of [this] matter, and for the great rain.

 10:10 And `Ezrà עֶזרָה° the priest° stood up,°° and said°° unto° them, Ye° have transgressed,°° and have taken°° strange° wives,° to increase°°° the trespass° of Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל.°

 10:10 And Ezrah the priest stood up, and said unto them, Ye have transgressed, and have taken strange wives, to increase the trespass of Yisrael.

 10:11 Now° therefore make°° confession° unto Yähwè יָהוֶה° ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים° of your fathers,° and do°° his pleasure:° and separate°° yourselves° from the people°° of the land,° and from° the strange° wives.°

 10:14 Let now our rulers of all the congregation stand, and let all them which have taken strange wives in our cities come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our Elohim for this matter be turned from us.

 10:15 ¶ Only° Yæhônäŧän יְהוֹנָתָן°° the son° of `Áŝà ´Ël עֲשָׂה־אֵל° and Yaçzæyà יַחזְיָה° the son° of Tikwà תִּקוָה° were employed°° about° this° [matter]: and Mæšulläm מְשֻׁלָּם° and Šabbæŧay שַׁבְּתַי° the Lëwî לֵוִי° helped°° them.

 10:15 ¶ Only Yehonathan the son of Asah-El and Yachzeyah the son of Tiqwah were employed about this [matter]: and Meshullam and Shabbethay the Lewi helped them.

 10:16 And the children° of the captivity° did° so.°°° And `Ezrà עֶזרָה° the priest,° [with] certain°° chief° of the fathers,° after the house° of their fathers,° and all° of them by [their] names,° were separated,°° and sat down°° in the first° day° of the tenth° month° to examine°° the matter.°

 10:18 ¶ And among the sons of the priests there were found that had taken strange wives: [namely], of the sons of Yeshua the son of Yotzadaq, and his brethren; Maaseyah, and Eliezer, and Yariv, and Gedalyah.

 10:19 And they gave°° their hands° that they would put away°° their wives;° and [being] guilty,° [they offered] a ram° of the flock° for° their trespass.°

 10:22 And of the sons°° of Pašçûr פַּשׁחוּר;° ´Elyô`ênay אֶליוֹעֵינַי,° Ma`áŝëyà מַעֲשֵׂיָה,° Yišmä`ë´l יִשׁמָעֵאל,° Næŧan´ël נְתַנאֵל,° Yôzäväđ יוֹזָבָד,° and ´El`äŝà אֶלעָשָׂה.°

 10:22 And of the sons of Pashchur; Elyoenay, Maaseyah, Yishmael, Nethanel, Yozavad, and Elasah.

 10:23 Also of° the Læwiyyim לְוִיִּם;° Yôzäväđ יוֹזָבָד,° and Šim`î שִׁמעִי,° and Këläyà קֵלָיָה,° (the same° [is] Kælîţä´ קְלִיטָא,)° Pæŧaçyà פְּתַחיָה,° Yæhûđà יְהוּדָה,° and ´Élî`ezer אֱלִיעֶזֶר.°

 10:23 Also of the Lewiyyim; Yozavad, and Shimi, and Qelayah, (the same [is] Qelita,) Pethachyah, Yehudah, and Eliezer.

 10:24 Of° the singers°° also; ´Elyäšîv אֶליָשִׁיב:° and of° the porters;° Šallûm שַׁלּוּם,° and Ţelem טֶלֶם,° and ´Ûrî אוּרִי.°

 10:25 Moreover of Yisrael: of the sons of Parosh; Ramyah, and Yizziyyah, and Malkiyyah, and Miyyamin, and Elazar, and Malkiyyah, and Benayah.

 10:26 And of the sons°° of `Êläm עֵילָם;° Mattanyà מַתַּניָה,° Zæȼaryà זְכַריָה,° and Yæ`î´ël יְעִיאֵל,° and `Avdî עַבדִּי,° and Yærëmôŧ יְרֵמוֹת,° and ´Ëliyyà אֵלִיָּה.°

 10:26 And of the sons of Elam; Mattanyah, Zekharyah, and Yeiel, and Avdi, and Yeremoth, and Eliyyah.

 10:27 And of the sons°° of Zattû´ זַתּוּא;° ´Elyô`ênay אֶליוֹעֵינַי,° ´Elyäšîv אֶליָשִׁיב,° Mattanyà מַתַּניָה,° and Yærëmôŧ יְרֵמוֹת,° and Zäväđ זָבָד,° and `Ázîzä´ עֲזִיזָא.°

 10:27 And of the sons of Zattu; Elyoenay, Elyashiv, Mattanyah, and Yeremoth, and Zavad, and Aziza.

 10:28 Of the sons°° also of Bëväy בֵּבָי;° Yæhôçänän יְהוֹחָנָן,° Çánanyà חֲנַניָה,° Zabbay זַבַּי,°°° [and] `Aŧläy עַתלָי.°

 10:29 And of the sons°° of Bänî בָּנִי;° Mæšulläm מְשֻׁלָּם,° Mallûȼ מַלּוּך,° and `Áđäyà עֲדָיָה,° Yäšûv יָשׁוּב,° and Šæ´äl שְׁאָל,° and Rämôŧ רָמוֹת.°°

 10:29 And of the sons of Bani; Meshullam, Mallukh, and Adayah, Yashuv, and Sheal, and Ramoth.

 10:30 And of the sons°° of Paçaŧ Mô´äv פַּחַת־מוֹאָב;° `Ađnä´ עַדנָא,° and Cæläl כְּלָל,° Bænäyà בְּנָיָה,° Ma`áŝëyà מַעֲשֵׂיָה,° Mattanyà מַתַּניָה,° Bæxal´ël בְּצַלאֵל,° and Binnûy בִּנּוּי,° and Mænaššè מְנַשֶּׁה.°

 10:30 And of the sons of Pachath-Moav; Adna, and Kelal, Benayah, Maaseyah, Mattanyah, Betzalel, and Binnuy, and Menashsheh.

 10:31 And [of] the sons° of Çärim חָרִם;° ´Élî`ezer אֱלִיעֶזֶר,° Yiššiyyà יִשִּׁיָּה,° Malciyyà מַלכִּיָּה,° Šæma`yà שְׁמַעיָה,° Šim`ôn שִׁמעוֹן,°

 10:31 And [of] the sons of Charim; Eliezer, Yishshiyyah, Malkiyyah, Shemayah, Shimon,
