1:1 ¶
In the eighth°
month,°
in the second°
year°
of Darius,°
came°
the word°
of Yahweh°
unto°
Zechariah,°
the son°
of Berechiah,°
the son°
of Iddo°
the prophet,°
saying,°° |
1:2
The Lord has been very angry with your fathers. |
|
1:2
Yahweh°
hath been sore°
displeased°°°
with°
your fathers.° |
1:3
And thou shalt say to them, Thus saith the Lord Almighty: Turn to me, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will turn to you, saith the Lord of hosts. |
|
1:3
Therefore say°°
thou unto°
them, Thus°
saith°°
Yahweh°
Sabaoth;°
Turn°°
ye unto°
me, saith°°
Yahweh°
Sabaoth,°
and I will turn°°
unto°
you, saith°°
Yahweh°
Sabaoth.° |
1:4
And be ye not as your fathers, whom the prophets before charged, saying, Thus saith the Lord Almighty: Turn ye from your evil ways, and from your evil practices: but they hearkened not, and attended not to hearken to me, saith the Lord. |
|
1:4
Be°
ye not°
as your fathers,°
unto°
whom°
the former°
prophets°
have cried,°°
saying,°°
Thus°
saith°°
Yahweh°
Sabaoth;°
Turn°°
ye now°
from your evil°
ways,°°
and [from] your evil°
doings:°
but they did not°
hear,°°
nor°
hearken°°
unto°
me, saith°°
Yahweh.° |
1:5
Where are your fathers, and the prophets? Will they live for ever? |
|
1:5
Your fathers,°
where°
[are] they?°
and the prophets,°
do they live°°
for ever?° |
1:6
But do ye receive my words and mine ordinances, all that I command by my Spirit to my servants the prophets, who lived in the days of your fathers; and they answered and said, As the Lord Almighty determined to do to us, according to our ways, and according to our practices, so has he done to us. |
|
1:6
But°
my words°
and my statutes,°
which°
I commanded°°°
my servants°
the prophets,°
did they not°
take hold°°
of your fathers?°
and they returned°°
and said,°°
Like as°
Yahweh°
Sabaoth°
thought°°
to do°°
unto us, according to our ways,°
and according to our doings,°
so°
hath he dealt°°
with°
us. |
1:7 ¶
On the twenty-fourth [day] in the eleventh month, this is the month Sabat, in the second year of [the reign of] Darius, the word of the Lord came to Zechariah{gr.Zacharias}, the son of Berechiah{gr.Barachias}, the son of Addo, the prophet, saying, |
|
1:7 ¶
Upon the four°
and twentieth°
day°
of the eleventh°°
month,°
which°
[is] the month°
Sebat,°
in the second°
year°
of Darius,°
came°
the word°
of Yahweh°
unto°
Zechariah,°
the son°
of Berechiah,°
the son°
of Iddo°
the prophet,°
saying,°° |
1:8
I saw by night, and behold a man mounted on a red horse, and he stood between the shady mountains; and behind him were red horses, and grey, and piebald, and white. |
|
1:8
I saw°°
by night,°
and behold°
a man°
riding°°
upon°
a red°
horse,°
and he°
stood°°
among°
the myrtle trees°
that°
[were] in the bottom;°
and behind°
him [were there] red°
horses,°
speckled,°
and white.° |
1:9
And I said, What are these, [my] lord? And the angel spoke with me said to me, I will shew thee what these [things] are. |
|
1:9
Then said°°
I, O my adon,°
what°
[are] these?°
And the angel°
that talked°°
with me said°°
unto°
me, I°
will shew°°
thee what°
these°
[be]. |
1:10
And the man that stood between the mountains answered, and said to me, These are [they] whom the Lord has sent forth to go round the earth. |
|
1:10
And the man°
that stood°°
among°
the myrtle trees°
answered°°
and said,°°
These°
[are they] whom°
Yahweh°
hath sent°°
to walk°°
to and fro°
through the earth.° |
1:11
And they answered the angel of the Lord that stood between the mountains, and said, We have gone round all the earth, and, behold, all the earth is inhabited, and is at rest. |
|
1:11
And they answered°°°
the angel°
of Yahweh°
that stood°°
among°
the myrtle trees,°
and said,°°
We have walked to and fro°°
through the earth,°
and, behold,°
all°
the earth°
sitteth still,°°
and is at rest.°° |
1:12 ¶
Then the angel of the Lord answered and said, O Lord Almighty, how long wilt thou have no mercy on Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah{gr.Juda}, which thou has disregarded these seventy years? |
|
1:12 ¶
Then the angel°
of Yahweh°
answered°°
and said,°°
O Yahweh°
Sabaoth,°
how long°°
wilt thou°
not°
have mercy°°
on°°
Jerusalem°
and on the cities°
of Judah,°
against which°
thou hast had indignation°°
these°
threescore and ten°
years?° |
1:13
And the Lord Almighty answered the angel that spoke with me good words and consolatory sayings. |
|
1:13
And Yahweh°
answered°°°
the angel°
that talked°°
with me [with] good°
words°
[and] comfortable°
words.° |
1:14
And the angel that spoke with me said to me, Cry out and say, Thus saith the Lord Almighty; I have been jealous for Jerusalem and Zion{gr.Sion} with great jealousy. |
|
1:14
So the angel°
that communed°°
with me said°°
unto°
me, Cry°°
thou, saying,°°
Thus°
saith°°
Yahweh°
Sabaoth;°
I am jealous°°
for Jerusalem°
and for Zion°
with a great°
jealousy.° |
1:15
And I am very angry with the heathen that combine to attack [her]: forasmuch as I indeed was a little angry, but they combined to attack [her] for evil. |
|
1:15
And I°
am very°
sore°
displeased°°°
with°
the heathen°
[that are] at ease:°
for°
I°
was but a little°
displeased,°°
and they°
helped°°
forward the affliction.° |
1:16
Therefore thus saith the Lord: I will return to Jerusalem with compassion; and my house shall be rebuilt in her, saith the Lord Almighty, and a measuring line shall yet be stretched out over Jerusalem. |
|
1:16
Therefore°
thus°
saith°°
Yahweh;°
I am returned°°
to Jerusalem°
with mercies:°
my house°
shall be built°°
in it, saith°°
Yahweh°
Sabaoth,°
and a line°°°
shall be stretched forth°°
upon°
Jerusalem.° |
1:17
And the angel that spoke with me said to me, Cry yet, and say, Thus saith the Lord Almighty; Yet shall cities be spread abroad through prosperity; and the Lord shall yet have mercy upon Zion{gr.Sion}, and shall choose Jerusalem. |
|
1:17
Cry°°
yet,°
saying,°°
Thus°
saith°°
Yahweh°
Sabaoth;°
My cities°
through prosperity°°
shall yet°
be spread abroad;°°
and Yahweh°
shall yet°
comfort°°°
Zion,°
and shall yet°
choose°°
Jerusalem.° |
1:18 ¶
And I lifted up mine eyes and looked, and behold four horns. |
|
1:18 ¶
Then lifted I up°°°
mine eyes,°
and saw,°°
and behold°
four°
horns.° |
1:19
And I said to the angel that spoke with me, What are these things, [my] lord? And he said to me, These are the horns that have scattered Judah{gr.Juda}, and Israel, and Jerusalem. |
|
1:19
And I said°°
unto°
the angel°
that talked°°
with me, What°
[be] these?°
And he answered°°°
me, These°
[are] the horns°
which°
have scattered°°°
Judah,°°
Israel,°
and Jerusalem.° |
1:20
And the Lord shewed me four artificers. |
|
1:20
And Yahweh°
shewed°°
me four°
carpenters.° |
1:21
And I said, What are these coming to do? And he said, These are the horns that scattered Judah{gr.Juda}, and they broke Israel in pieces, and none of them lifted up his head: and these are come forth to sharpen them for their hands, [even] the four horns, the nations that lifted up the horn against the land of the Lord to scatter it. |
|
1:21
Then said°°
I, What°
come°°
these°
to do?°°
And he spake,°°
saying,°°
These°
[are] the horns°
which°
have scattered°°°
Judah,°
so that°
no°
man°
did lift up°°
his head:°
but these°
are come°°
to fray°°
them, to cast out°°°
the horns°
of the Gentiles,°
which lifted up°°
[their] horn°
over°
the land°
of Judah°
to scatter°°
it. |
