 2:1 ¶ In the seventh month, on the twenty-first [day] of the month, the Lord spoke by Haggai{gr.Aggaeus} the prophet, saying,

 2:1 ¶ In the seventh° [month], in the one° and twentieth° [day] of the month,° came° the word° of Yahweh° by° the prophet° Haggai,° saying,°°

 2:2 Speak now to Zerubbabel{gr.Zorobabel} the son of Shealtiel{gr.Salathiel}, of the tribe of Judah{gr.Juda}, and to Jeshua{gr.Jesus} the son of Jozadak{gr.Josedec}, the high priest, and to all the remnant of the people, saying,

 2:2 Speak°° now° to° Zerubbabel° the son° of Shealtiel,° governor° of Judah,° and to° Joshua° the son° of Josedech,° the high° priest,° and to° the residue° of the people,° saying,°°

 2:3 Who [is there] of you that saw this house in her former glory? and how do ye now look upon it, as it were nothing before your eyes?

 2:3 Who° [is] left°° among you that° saw°°° this° house° in her first° glory?° and how° do ye° see°° it now?° [is it] not° in your eyes° in comparison° of it° as nothing?°

 2:4 Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel{gr.Zorobabel}, saith the Lord; and strengthen thyself, O Jeshua{gr.Jesus} the high priest, the son of Jozadak{gr.Josedec}; and let all the people of the land strengthen themselves, saith the Lord, and work, for I am with you, saith the Lord Almighty;

 2:4 Yet now° be strong,°° O Zerubbabel,° saith°° Yahweh;° and be strong,°° O Joshua,° son° of Josedech,° the high° priest;° and be strong,°° all° ye people° of the land,° saith°° Yahweh,° and work:°° for° I° [am] with° you, saith°° Yahweh° Sabaoth:°

 2:5 and my Spirit remains in the midst of you; be of good courage.

 2:5 [According to]° the word° that° I covenanted°° with° you when ye came°° out° of Egypt,°° so my spirit° remaineth°° among° you: fear°° ye not.°

 2:6 For thus saith the Lord Almighty; Yet once I will shake the heaven, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry [land];

 2:6 For° thus° saith°° Yahweh° Sabaoth;° Yet° once,° it° [is] a little while,° and I° will shake°°° the heavens,° and the earth,° and the sea,° and the dry° [land];

 2:7 and I will shake all nations, and the choice [portions] of all the nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the Lord Almighty.

 2:7 And I will shake°°° all° nations,° and the desire° of all° nations° shall come:°° and I will fill°°° this° house° with glory,° saith°° Yahweh° Sabaoth.°

 2:8 Mine is the silver, and mine the gold, saith the Lord Almighty.

 2:8 The silver° [is] mine, and the gold° [is] mine, saith°° Yahweh° Sabaoth.°

 2:9 For the glory of this house shall be great, the latter more than the former, saith the Lord Almighty: and in this place will I give peace, saith the Lord Almighty, even peace of soul for a possession to every one that builds, to raise up this temple.

 2:9 The glory° of this° latter° house° shall be° greater° than°° of the former,° saith°°° Yahweh° Sabaoth:° and in this° place° will I give°° peace,° saith°°° Yahweh° Sabaoth.°

 2:10 ¶ On the four and twentieth [day] of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came to Haggai{gr.Aggaeus} the prophet, saying,

 2:10 ¶ In the four° and twentieth° [day] of the ninth° [month], in the second° year° of Darius,° came° the word° of Yahweh° by°° Haggai° the prophet,° saying,°°

 2:11 Thus saith the Lord Almighty; Inquire now of the priest [concerning] the law, saying,

 2:11 Thus° saith°° Yahweh° Sabaoth;° Ask°° now°° the priests° [concerning] the law,° saying,°°

 2:12 If a man should take holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and the skirt of his garment should touch bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any meat, shall it be holy? And the priests answered and said, No.

 2:12 If° one° bear°° holy° flesh° in the skirt° of his garment,° and with his skirt° do touch°°° bread,° or pottage,° or wine,° or oil,° or any° meat,° shall it be holy?°° And the priests° answered°° and said,°° No.°

 2:13 And Haggai{gr.Aggaeus} said, If a defiled person who is unclean by reason of a dead body, touch any of these, shall it be defiled? And the priests answered and said, It shall be defiled.

 2:13 Then said°° Haggai,° If° [one that is] unclean° by a dead body° touch°° any° of these,° shall it be unclean?°° And the priests° answered°° and said,°° It shall be unclean.°°

 2:14 And Haggai{gr.Aggaeus} answered and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the Lord; and so are all the works of their hands: and whosoever shall approach them, shall be defiled [because of their early burdens: they shall be pained because of their toils; and ye have hated him that reproved in the gates].

 2:14 Then answered°° Haggai,° and said,°° So° [is] this° people,° and so° [is] this° nation° before° me, saith°° Yahweh;° and so° [is] every° work° of their hands;° and that which° they offer°° there° [is] unclean.°

 2:15 And now consider, I pray you, from this day and beforetime, before they laid a stone on a stone in the temple of the Lord, what manner of men ye were.

 2:15 And now,° I pray you,° consider°°° from° this° day° and upward,° from before°° a stone° was laid°° upon° a stone° in the temple° of Yahweh:°

 2:16 When ye cast into the corn-bin twenty measures of barley, and there were [only] ten measures of barley: and ye went to the vat to draw out fifty measures, and there were [but] twenty.

 2:16 Since those [days] were,°° when [one] came°° to° an heap° of twenty° [measures], there were° [but] ten:° when [one] came°° to° the pressfat° for to draw out°° fifty° [vessels] out of the press,° there were° [but] twenty.°

 2:17 I smote you with barrenness, and with blasting, and all the works of your hands with hail; yet ye returned not to me, saith the Lord.

 2:17 I smote°° you with blasting° and with mildew° and with hail° in° all° the labours° of your hands;° yet ye [turned] not° to° me, saith°° Yahweh.°

 2:18 Set your hearts now [to think] from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth [day] of the ninth month, even from the day when the foundation of the temple of the Lord was laid;

 2:18 Consider°°° now° from° this° day° and upward,° from the four° and twentieth° day°° of the ninth° [month, even] from° the day° that° the foundation°° of Yahweh's° temple° was laid,°°° consider°°° [it].

 2:19 consider in your hearts, whether [this] shall be known on the corn-floor, and whether yet the vine, and the fig-tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive-trees that bear no fruit [are with you]: from this day will I bless [you].

 2:19 Is the seed° yet° in the barn?° yea, as yet° the vine,° and the fig tree,° and the pomegranate,° and the olive° tree,° hath not° brought forth:°° from° this° day° will I bless°° [you].

 2:20 ¶ And the word of the Lord came the second time to Haggai{gr.Aggaeus} the prophet, on the four and twentieth [day] of the month, saying,

 2:20 ¶ And again° the word° of Yahweh° came° unto° Haggai° in the four° and twentieth° [day] of the month,° saying,°°

 2:21 Speak to Zerubbabel{gr.Zorobabel} the son of Shealtiel{gr.Salathiel}, of the tribe of Judah{gr.Juda}, saying, I shake the heaven, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry [land];

 2:21 Speak°° to° Zerubbabel,° governor° of Judah,° saying,°° I° will shake°°° the heavens° and the earth;°

 2:22 and I will overthrow the thrones of kings, and I will destroy the power of the kings of the nations; and I will overthrow chariots and riders; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword striving against his brother.

 2:22 And I will overthrow°° the throne° of kingdoms,° and I will destroy°° the strength° of the kingdoms° of the heathen;° and I will overthrow°° the chariots,° and those that ride°° in them; and the horses° and their riders°° shall come down,°° every one° by the sword° of his brother.°

 2:23 In that day, saith the Lord Almighty, I will take thee, O Zerubbabel{gr.Zorobabel}, the son of Shealtiel{gr.Salathiel}, my servant, saith the Lord, and will make thee as a seal: for I have chosen thee, saith the Lord Almighty.

 2:23 In that° day,° saith°° Yahweh° Sabaoth,° will I take°° thee, O Zerubbabel,° my servant,° the son° of Shealtiel,° saith°° Yahweh,° and will make°° thee as a signet:° for° I have chosen°° thee, saith°° Yahweh° Sabaoth.°
