3:1
Do we begin again anew to show who we are? or do we need as others to write epistles of commendation to you concerning ourselves, or that you should write to commend us? |
|
3:1
Do we begin again to show you who we are? Or do we, like others, need that letters recommendatory of us should be written to you? Or, that ye should write recommendations of us? |
3:2
But you yourselves are our epistle, written in our hearts, and known and read of every man. |
|
3:2
Ye are our epistle, written on our hearts, and known and read by every man. |
3:3
For you know that you are an epistle of the Meshiha, who hath been ministered by us; written, not with ink but by the Spirit of Aloha the Living; not on tablets of stone, but on the fleshly tablets of the heart. |
|
3:3
For ye know that ye are an epistle of the Messiah, ministered by us; not written with ink, but by the Spirit of the living God; not on tables of stone, but on the tablets of the heart of flesh. |
3:4 ¶
BUT such confidence we have through the Meshiha toward Aloha. |
|
3:4
And such confidence have we in the Messiah towards God. |
3:5
For we are not sufficient to think any thing as of ourselves; but our power is from Aloha, |
|
3:5
Not that we are sufficient to think any thing as of ourselves; but our efficiency is from God: |
3:6
who hath made us fit to be ministers of the new covenant, not in the writing, but in the spirit. For the writing killeth, but the Spirit maketh alive. |
|
3:6
who hath fitted us to be ministers of the new Testament, not in the letter, but in the Spirit; for the letter killeth, but the Spirit giveth life. |
3:7
But if the ministry of death in the writing engraven on stones was with glory, as that the sons of Israel could not look on the face of Musha because of the glory of his face which is abolished, |
|
3:7
Now if the ministration of death was engraved upon stones in writing, and was so glorious that the children of Israel could not look on the face of Moses, on account of the glory upon his face which vanished away; |
3:8
how much more then doth not the ministry Of the Spirit excel in glory? |
|
3:8
how then shall not the ministration of the Spirit be still more glorious? |
3:9
For if the ministry of condemnation was glorious, how much more doth not the ministry of justification excel in glory? |
|
3:9
For if there was glory in the ministration of condemnation, how much more shall the ministration of justification excel in glory? |
3:10
For that which was glorified had no glory, in comparison of this excelling glory. |
|
3:10
For that which was glorious, was as if not glorious, in comparison with this which excelleth in glory. |
3:11
For if that which was abolished was with glory, how much more shall that which endureth be with glory? |
|
3:11
For if that which is abolished was glorious, much more must that which abideth be glorious. |
3:12
Therefore because we have this hope, we speak the more boldly, |
|
3:12
Seeing therefore we have this hope, we the more speak with boldness; |
3:13
and (are) not as Musha, who threw the veil upon his face, that the sons of Israel might not look upon the End of that which was to be abolished. |
|
3:13
and are not like Moses, who threw a vail over his face, that the children of Israel might not behold the termination of that which was abolished. |
3:14
But they are blinded in their minds unto this day. For when the old covenant is read, that very veil standeth upon them, nor is it apparent (to them) that in the Meshiha it hath been abolished. |
|
3:14
But they were blinded in their understanding; for until this day, when the old Testament is read, the same vail resteth upon them; nor is it manifest [to them], that it is abolished by the Messiah. |
3:15
And unto this day, when Musha is read, the veil is thrown upon their heart. |
|
3:15
And unto this day, when Moses is read, a vail is thrown upon their hearts. |
3:16
And when any one of them is converted unto the Lord, the veil from him is uplifted. |
|
3:16
But when any of them is turned unto the Lord, the vail is taken from him. |
3:17
But the Lord himself is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord, (there) is liberty. |
|
3:17
Now the Lord himself is the Spirit. And where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. |
3:18
But we all with disclosed faces behold the glory of the Lord as in a mirror, and into the resemblance of it are changed from brightness to brightness, as by the Lord the Spirit. |
|
3:18
And we all, with uncovered faces, behold as in a mirror the glory of the Lord; and are transformed into the same likeness, from glory to glory, as by the Lord the Spirit. |
