And they answered Joshua, and said, Because it was certainly told thy servants, how that Jehovah thy God commanded his servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you; therefore we were sore afraid for our lives because of you, and have done this thing.

And they answeredª°¹ Joshua,ª and said,ª° Because¹ it was certainly²° toldª° thy servants,ª¹ how that¹ the LORDª thy Godª commandedª° his servantª¹ Mosesª to giveª° you all¹ the land,ª and to destroyª°¹ all¹ the inhabitantsª° of the landª from beforeª¹ you, therefore we were soreª afraidª° of our livesª because² of¹¹ you, and have doneª°¹ this¹ thing.ª

And they answeredª°¹ Ioshua,ª and said,ª° Because¹ it was certainely²° toldª° thy seruants,ª¹ how that¹ the LORDª thy Godª commandedª° his seruantª¹ Mosesª to giueª° you all¹ the land,ª and to destroyª°¹ all¹ the inhabitantsª° of the landª from beforeª¹ you, therefore we were soreª afraidª° of our liuesª because² of¹¹ you, and haue doneª°¹ this¹ thing.ª

And they answered Joshua{gr.Jesus}, saying, It was reported to us what the Lord thy God charged his servant Mosheh{gr.Moses}, to give you this land, and to destroy us and all that dwelt on it from before you; and we feared very much for our lives because of you, and [therefore] we did this thing.
