Ruth 4

1 Boaz calleth into judgment the next kinsman. 6 He refuseth the redemption according to the manner in Israel. 9 Boaz buyeth the inheritance. 10 He marrieth Ruth. 13 She beareth Obed the grandfather of David. 18 The generation of Pharez.

 4:1 Now Boaz 1162 went 5927 up to the gate 8179 and sat 3427 down 3427 there 8033, and behold 2009, the close 1350 relative 1350 of whom 834 Boaz 1162 spoke 1696 was passing 5674a by, so he said 559, “Turn 5493 aside 5493, friend 6423 492, sit 3427 down 3427 here 6311.” And he turned 5493 aside 5493 and sat 3427 down 3427.

 4:2 He took 3947 ten 6235 men 376 of the elders 2205 of the city 5892b and said 559, “Sit 3427 down 3427 here 6311.” So they sat 3427 down 3427.

 4:3 Then he said 559 to the closest 1350 relative 1350, “Naomi 5281, who has come 7725 back 7725 from the land 7704 of Moab 4124, has to sell 4376 the piece 2513a of land 7704 which 834 belonged to our brother 251 Elimelech 458.

 4:4 “So I thought 559 to inform 241 1540 you, saying 559, ‘Buy 7069 [it] before 5048 those who are sitting 3427 [here], and before 5048 the elders 2205 of my people 5971a. If 518 you will redeem 1350 [it], redeem 1350 [it]; but if 518 not, tell 5046 me that I may know 3045; for there 369 is no 369 one 369 but you to redeem 1350 [it], and I am after 310 you.’” And he said 559, “I will redeem 1350 [it].”

 4:5 Then Boaz 1162 said 559, “On the day 3117 you buy 7069 the field 7704 from the hand 3027 of Naomi 5281, you must also acquire 7069 Ruth 7327 the Moabitess 4125, the widow 802 of the deceased 4191, in order to raise 6965 up the name 8034 of the deceased 4191 on his inheritance 5159.”

 4:6 The closest 1350 relative 1350 said 559, “I cannot 3201 3808 redeem 1350 [it] for myself, because 6435 I would jeopardize 7843 my own inheritance 5159. Redeem 1350 [it] for yourself; you [may have] my right 1353 of redemption 1353, for I cannot 3201 3808 redeem 1350 [it].”

 4:7 ¶ Now this 2088 was [the custom] in former 6440 times 6440 in Israel 3478 concerning 5921 the redemption 1353 and the exchange 8545 [of land] to confirm 6965 any 3605 matter 1697: a man 376 removed 8025 his sandal 5275 and gave 5414 it to another 7453; and this 2088 was the [manner of] attestation 8584 in Israel 3478.

 4:8 So the closest 1350 relative 1350 said 559 to Boaz 1162, “Buy 7069 [it] for yourself.” And he removed 8025 his sandal 5275.

 4:9 Then Boaz 1162 said 559 to the elders 2205 and all 3605 the people 5971a, “You are witnesses 5707 today 3117 that I have bought 7069 from the hand 3027 of Naomi 5281 all 3605 that belonged to Elimelech 458 and all 3605 that belonged to Chilion 3630 and Mahlon 4248.

 4:10 “Moreover 1571, I have acquired 7069 Ruth 7327 the Moabitess 4125, the widow 802 of Mahlon 4248, to be my wife 802 in order to raise 6965 up the name 8034 of the deceased 4191 on his inheritance 5159, so that the name 8034 of the deceased 4191 will not be cut 3772 off 3772 from his brothers 251 or from the court 8179 of his [birth] place 4725; you are witnesses 5707 today 3117.”

 4:11 All 3605 the people 5971a who 834 were in the court 8179, and the elders 2205, said 559, “[We are] witnesses 5707. May the LORD 3068 make 5414 the woman 802 who is coming 935 into your home 1004 like Rachel 7354 and Leah 3812, both 8147 of whom 834 built 1129 the house 1004 of Israel 3478; and may you achieve 6213a wealth 2428 in Ephrathah 672 and become 7121 famous 7121 8034 in Bethlehem 1035.

 4:12 “Moreover, may your house 1004 be like the house 1004 of Perez 6557 whom 834 Tamar 8559 bore 3205 to Judah 3063, through 4480 the offspring 2233 which 834 the LORD 3068 will give 5414 you by this 2088 young 5291 woman 5291.”

 4:13 ¶ So Boaz 1162 took 3947 Ruth 7327, and she became 1961 his wife 802, and he went 935 in to her. And the LORD 3068 enabled 5414 her to conceive 2032, and she gave 3205 birth 3205 to a son 1121.

 4:14 Then the women 802 said 559 to Naomi 5281, “Blessed 1288 is the LORD 3068 who 834 has not left 7673a you without 7673a a redeemer 1350 today 3117, and may his name 8034 become 7121 famous 7121 in Israel 3478.

 4:15 “May he also be to you a restorer 7725 of life 5315 and a sustainer 3557 of your old 7872 age 7872; for your daughter-in-law 3618, who 834 loves 157 you and is better 2896a to you than 4480 seven 7651 sons 1121, has given 3205 birth 3205 to him.”

 4:16 Then Naomi 5281 took 3947 the child 3206 and laid 7896 him in her lap 2436, and became 1961 his nurse 539.

 4:17 The neighbor 7934 women 7934 gave 7121 him a name 8034, saying 559, “A son 1121 has been born 3205 to Naomi 5281!” So they named 7121 8034 him Obed 5744. He is the father 1 of Jesse 3448, the father 1 of David 1732.

 4:18 ¶ Now these 428 are the generations 8435 of Perez 6557: to Perez 6557 was born 3205 Hezron 2696,

 4:19 and to Hezron 2696 was born 3205 Ram 7410, and to Ram 7410, Amminadab 5992,

 4:20 and to Amminadab 5992 was born 3205 Nahshon 5177, and to Nahshon 5177, Salmon 8009,

 4:21 and to Salmon 8012 was born 3205 Boaz 1162, and to Boaz 1162, Obed 5744,

 4:22 and to Obed 5744 was born 3205 Jesse 3448, and to Jesse 3448, David 1732.
