Ruth 2

1 Ruth gleaneth in the fields of Boaz. 4 Boaz taking knowledge of her, 8 sheweth her great favour. 18 That which she got, she carrieth to Naomi.

 2:1 Now Naomi 5281 had a kinsman 4129 of her husband 376, a man 376 of great 1368 wealth 2428, of the family 4940 of Elimelech 458, whose name 8034 was Boaz 1162.

 2:2 And Ruth 7327 the Moabitess 4125 said 559 to Naomi 5281, “Please 4994 let me go 1980 to the field 7704 and glean 3950 among the ears 7641 of grain 7641 after 310 one in whose 834 sight 5869 I may find 4672 favor 2580.” And she said 559 to her, “Go 1980, my daughter 1323.”

 2:3 So she departed 1980 and went 935 and gleaned 3950 in the field 7704 after 310 the reapers 7114b; and she happened 7136a 4745 to come 7136a to the portion 2513a of the field 7704 belonging to Boaz 1162, who 834 was of the family 4940 of Elimelech 458.

 2:4 Now behold 2009, Boaz 1162 came 935 from Bethlehem 1035 and said 559 to the reapers 7114b, “May the LORD 3068 be with you.” And they said 559 to him, “May the LORD 3068 bless 1288 you.”

 2:5 Then Boaz 1162 said 559 to his servant 5288 who was in charge 5324 of the reapers 7114b, “Whose 4310 young 5291 woman 5291 is this 2088?”

 2:6 The servant 5288 in charge 5324 of the reapers 7114b replied 6030a, “She is the young 5291 Moabite 4125 woman 5291 who returned 7725 with Naomi 5281 from the land 7704 of Moab 4124.

 2:7 “And she said 559, ‘Please 4994 let me glean 3950 and gather 622 after 310 the reapers 7114b among the sheaves 6016a.’ Thus she came 935 and has remained 5975 from the morning 1242 until 5704 now 6258; she has been sitting 3427 in the house 1004 for a little 4592 while 4592.”

 2:8 ¶ Then Boaz 1162 said 559 to Ruth 7327, “Listen 8085 carefully 3808, my daughter 1323. Do not go 1980 to glean 3950 in another 312 field 7704; furthermore 1571, do not go 5674a on from this 2088 one 2088, but stay 1692 here 3541 with my maids 5291.

 2:9 “Let your eyes 5869 be on the field 7704 which 834 they reap 7114b, and go 1980 after 310 them. Indeed 3808, I have commanded 6680 the servants 5288 not to touch 5060 you. When you are thirsty 6770, go 1980 to the water 3267 jars 3627 and drink 8354 from what 834 the servants 5288 draw 7579.”

 2:10 Then she fell 5307 on her face 6440, bowing 7812 to the ground 776 and said 559 to him, “Why 4069 have I found 4672 favor 2580 in your sight 5869 that you should take 5234 notice 5234 of me, since I am a foreigner 5237?”

 2:11 Boaz 1162 replied 6030a to her, “All 3605 that you have done 6213a for your mother-in-law 2545 after 310 the death 4194 of your husband 376 has been fully 5046 reported 5046 to me, and how you left 5800a your father 1 and your mother 517 and the land 776 of your birth 4138, and came 1980 to a people 5971a that you did not previously 8543 8032a know 3045.

 2:12 “May the LORD 3068 reward 7999a your work 6467, and your wages 4909 be full 8003 from the LORD 3068, the God 430 of Israel 3478, under 8478 whose 834 wings 3671 you have come 935 to seek 2620 refuge 2620.”

 2:13 Then she said 559, “I have found 4672 favor 2580 in your sight 5869, my lord 113, for you have comforted 5162 me and indeed 3588 have spoken 1696 kindly 3820 to your maidservant 8198, though I am 1961 not like one 259 of your maidservants 8198.”

 2:14 ¶ At mealtime 6256 400 Boaz 1162 said 559 to her, “Come 5066 here 1988, that you may eat 398 of the bread 3899 and dip 2881 your piece 6595 of bread 6595 in the vinegar 2558.” So she sat 3427 beside 4480 6654 the reapers 7114b; and he served 6642 her roasted 7039 grain 7039, and she ate 398 and was satisfied 7646 and had 3498 some left 3498.

 2:15 When she rose 6965 to glean 3950, Boaz 1162 commanded 6680 his servants 5288, saying 559, “Let her glean 3950 even 1571 among 996 the sheaves 6016a, and do not insult 3637 her.

 2:16 “Also 1571 you shall purposely 7997a pull 7997a out for her [some grain] from the bundles 6653 and leave 5800a [it] that she may glean 3950, and do not rebuke 1605 her.”

 2:17 ¶ So she gleaned 3950 in the field 7704 until 5704 evening 6153. Then she beat 2251 out what 834 she had gleaned 3950, and it was about an ephah 374 of barley 8184.

 2:18 She took 5375 [it] up and went 935 into the city 5892b, and her mother-in-law 2545 saw 7200 what 834 she had gleaned 3950. She also took 3318 [it] out and gave 5414 Naomi what 834 she had 3498 left 3498 after 4480 she was satisfied 7648.

 2:19 Her mother-in-law 2545 then said 559 to her, “Where 375 did you glean 3950 today 3117 and where 575 did you work 6213a? May he who took 5234 notice 5234 of you be blessed 1288.” So she told 5046 her mother-in-law 2545 with whom 834 she had worked 6213a and said 559, “The name 8034 of the man 376 with whom 834 I worked 6213a today 3117 is Boaz 1162.”

 2:20 Naomi 5281 said 559 to her daughter-in-law 3618, “May he be blessed 1288 of the LORD 3068 who 834 has not withdrawn 5800a his kindness 2617a to the living 2416a and to the dead 4191.” Again Naomi 5281 said 559 to her, “The man 376 is our relative 7138, he is one of our closest 1350 relatives 1350.”

 2:21 Then Ruth 7327 the Moabitess 4125 said 559, “Furthermore 1571, he said 559 to me, ‘You should stay 1692 close 1692 to my servants 5288 until 5704 518 they have finished 3615 all 3605 my harvest 7105a.’”

 2:22 Naomi 5281 said 559 to Ruth 7327 her daughter-in-law 3618, “It is good 2896a, my daughter 1323, that you go 3318 out with his maids 5291, so 3808 that [others] do not fall 6293 upon you in another 312 field 7704.”

 2:23 So she stayed 1692 close 1692 by the maids 5291 of Boaz 1162 in order to glean 3950 until 5704 the end 3615 of the barley 8184 harvest 7105a and the wheat 2406 harvest 7105a. And she lived 3427 with her mother-in-law 2545.
