James 3

1 We are not rashly or arrogantly to reprove others: 5 but rather to bridle the tongue, a little member, but a powerful instrument of much good, and great harm. 13 They who be truly wise be mild, and peaceable, without envying, and strife.

 3:1 Let not many 4183 [of you] become 1096 teachers 1320, my brethren 80, knowing 3609a that as such we will incur 2983 a stricter 3173 judgment 2917.

 3:2 For we all 537a stumble 4417 in many 4183 [ways]. If 1487 anyone 5100 does not stumble 4417 in what 3056 he says 3056, he is a perfect 5046 man 435, able 1415 to bridle 5468 the whole 3650 body 4983 as well 2532.

 3:3 Now 1161 if 1487 we put 906 the bits 5469 into the horses’ 2462 mouths 4750 so 1519 that they will obey 3982 us, we direct 3329 their entire 3650 body 4983 as well 2532.

 3:4 Look 2400 at the ships 4143 also 2532, though they are so 5082 great 5082 and are driven 1643 by strong 4642 winds 417, are still directed 3329 by a very 1646 small 1646 rudder 4079 wherever 3699 the inclination 3730 of the pilot 2116 desires 1014.

 3:5 So 3779 also 2532 the tongue 1100 is a small 3398 part 3196 of the body, and [yet] it boasts 850a of great 3173 things 3173. ¶ See 2400 how 2245 great 2245 a forest 5208 is set 381 aflame 381 by such 2245 a small 2245 fire 4442!

 3:6 And the tongue 1100 is a fire 4442, the [very] world 2889 of iniquity 93; the tongue 1100 is set 2525 among 1722 our members 3196 as that which defiles 4695 the entire 3650 body 4983, and sets 5394 on fire 5394 the course 5164 of [our] life 1078, and is set 5394 on fire 5394 by hell 1067.

 3:7 For every 3956 species 5449 of beasts 2342 and birds 4071, of reptiles 2062 and creatures 1724 of the sea 1724, is tamed 1150 and has been tamed 1150 by the human 442 race 5449.

 3:8 But no 3762 one 3762 444 can 1410 tame 1150 the tongue 1100; [it is] a restless 182 evil 2556 [and] full 3324 of deadly 2287 poison 2447.

 3:9 With it we bless 2127 [our] Lord 2962 and Father 3962, and with it we curse 2672 men 444, who have been 1096 made 1096 in the likeness 3669 of God 2316;

 3:10 from the same 846 mouth 4750 come 1831 [both] blessing 2129 and cursing 2671. My brethren 80, these 3778 things 3778 ought 5534 not to be this 3779 way 3779.

 3:11 Does a fountain 4077 send 1032 out from the same 846 opening 3692 [both] fresh 1099 and bitter 4089 [water]?

 3:12 Can 1410 a fig 4808 tree 4808, my brethren 80, produce 4160 olives 1636, or 2228 a vine 288 produce 4160 figs 4810? Nor 3777 [can] salt 252 water 5204 produce 4160 fresh 1099.

 3:13 ¶ Who 5101 among 1722 you is wise 4680 and understanding 1990? Let him show 1166 by his good 2570 behavior 391 his deeds 2041 in the gentleness 4240 of wisdom 4678.

 3:14 But if 1487 you have 2192 bitter 4089 jealousy 2205b and selfish 2052 ambition 2052 in your heart 2588, do not be arrogant 2620 and [so] lie 5574 against 2596 the truth 225.

 3:15 This 3778 wisdom 4678 is not that which comes 2718 down 2718 from above 509, but is earthly 1919, natural 5591, demonic 1141.

 3:16 For where 3699 jealousy 2205b and selfish 2052 ambition 2052 exist, there 1563 is disorder 181 and every 3956 evil 5337 thing 4229.

 3:17 But the wisdom 4678 from above 509 is first 4413 pure 53, then 1899 peaceable 1516, gentle 1933, reasonable 2138b, full 3324 of mercy 1656 and good 18 fruits 2590, unwavering 87, without 505 hypocrisy 505.

 3:18 And the seed whose fruit 2590 is righteousness 1343 is sown 4687 in peace 1515 by those 3588 who make 4160 peace 1515.
