2 Samuel 8

1 David subdueth the Philistines and the Moabites. 3 He smiteth Hadadezer, and the Syrians. 9 Toi sendeth Joram with presents to bless him. 11 The presents and the spoil David dedicateth to God. 14 He putteth garrisons in Edom. 16 David's officers.

 8:1 Now after 310 this 3651 it came 1961 about that David 1732 defeated 5221 the Philistines 6430 and subdued 3665 them; and David 1732 took 3947 control 4964 of the chief 522b city 522b from the hand 3027 of the Philistines 6430.

 8:2 ¶ He defeated 5221 Moab 4124, and measured 4058 them with the line 2256a, making them lie 7901 down 7901 on the ground 776; and he measured 4058 two 8147 lines 2256a to put 4191 to death 4191 and one full 4393 line 2256a to keep 2421a alive 2421a. And the Moabites 4124 became 1961 servants 5650 to David 1732, bringing 5375 tribute 4503.

 8:3 ¶ Then David 1732 defeated 5221 Hadadezer 1909, the son 1121 of Rehob 7340 king 4428 of Zobah 6678, as he went 1980 to restore 7725 his rule 3027 at the River 5104.

 8:4 David 1732 captured 3920 from him 1,700 505 7651 3967 horsemen 6571b and 20,000 6242 505 foot 7273 soldiers 376 7273; and David 1732 hamstrung 6136b the chariot 7393 horses 7393, but reserved 3498 [enough] of them for 100 3967 chariots 7393.

 8:6 Then David 1732 put 7760 garrisons 5333 among the Arameans 758 of Damascus 1834, and the Arameans 758 became 1961 servants 5650 to David 1732, bringing 5375 tribute 4503. And the LORD 3068 helped 3467 David 1732 wherever 3605 834 he went 1980.

 8:7 David 1732 took 3947 the shields 7982 of gold 2091 which 834 were carried 413 by the servants 5650 of Hadadezer 1909 and brought 935 them to Jerusalem 3389.

 8:9 ¶ Now when Toi 8583 king 4428 of Hamath 2574 heard 8085 that David 1732 had defeated 5221 all 3605 the army 2428 of Hadadezer 1909,

 8:10 Toi 8583 sent 7971 Joram 3141 his son 1121 to King 4428 David 1732 to greet 7592 7965 him and bless 1288 him, because 5921 834 he had fought 3898a against Hadadezer 1909 and defeated 5221 him; for Hadadezer 1909 had been 1961 at war 4421 with Toi 8583.  8:12 from Aram 758 and Moab 4124 and the sons 1121 of Ammon 5983 and the Philistines 6430 and Amalek 6002, and from the spoil 7998 of Hadadezer 1909, son 1121 of Rehob 7340, king 4428 of Zobah 6678.

 8:13 ¶ So David 1732 made 6213a a name 8034 [for himself] when he returned 7725 from killing 5221 18,000 8083 6240 505 Arameans 758 in the Valley 1516 of Salt 4417.

 8:14 He put 7760 garrisons 5333 in Edom 112b. In all 3605 Edom 112b he put 7760 garrisons 5333, and all 3605 the Edomites 112b became 1961 servants 5650 to David 1732. And the LORD 3068 helped 3467 David 1732 wherever 3605 834 he went 1980.

 8:15 ¶ So David 1732 reigned 4427a over 5921 all 3605 Israel 3478; and David 1732 administered 6213a justice 4941 and righteousness 6666 for all 3605 his people 5971a.

 8:16 Joab 3097 the son 1121 of Zeruiah 6870 [was] over 5921 the army 6635, and Jehoshaphat 3092 the son 1121 of Ahilud 286 [was] recorder 2142.

 8:17 Zadok 6659 the son 1121 of Ahitub 285 and Ahimelech 288 the son 1121 of Abiathar 54 [were] priests 3548, and Seraiah 8304 [was] secretary 5613b.

 8:18 Benaiah 1141 the son 1121 of Jehoiada 3077 was over the Cherethites 3774 and the Pelethites 6432; and David’s 1732 sons 1121 were chief 3548 ministers 3548.
