1 Peter 5

1 He exhorteth the elders to feed their flocks, 5 the younger to obey, 8 and all to be sober, watchful, and constant in the faith: 9 to resist the cruel adversary the devil.

 5:1 Therefore 3767, I exhort 3870 the elders 4245 among 1722 you, as [your] fellow 4850 elder 4850 and witness 3144 of the sufferings 3804 of Christ 5547, and a partaker 2844 also 2532 of the glory 1391 that is to be revealed 601,

 5:2 shepherd 4165 the flock 4168 of God 2316 among 1722 you, exercising oversight 1983 not under 317 compulsion 317, but voluntarily 1596, according 2596 to [the will of] God 2316; and not for sordid 147 gain 147, but with eagerness 4290;

 5:3 nor 3366 yet as lording 2634b it over 2634b those 3588 allotted 2819 to your charge 2819, but proving 1096 to be examples 5179b to the flock 4168.

 5:4 And when the Chief 750 Shepherd 750 appears 5319, you will receive 2865 the unfading 262 crown 4735 of glory 1391.

 5:5 You younger 3501b men 3501b, likewise 3668, be subject 5293 to [your] elders 4245; and all 3956 of you, clothe 1463 yourselves with humility 5012a toward one 240 another 240, for GOD 2316 IS OPPOSED 498 TO THE PROUD 5244a, BUT GIVES 1325 GRACE 5485 TO THE HUMBLE 5011.

 5:6 ¶ Therefore 3767 humble 5013 yourselves under 5259 the mighty 2900 hand 5495 of God 2316, that He may exalt 5312 you at the proper 2540 time 2540,

 5:7 casting 1977 all 3956 your anxiety 3308 on Him, because 3754 He cares 3199 for you.

 5:8 Be of sober 3525 [spirit], be on the alert 1127. Your adversary 476, the devil 1228, prowls 4043 around 4043 like 5613 a roaring 5612 lion 3023, seeking 2212 someone 5100 to devour 2666.

 5:9 But resist 436 him, firm 4731 in [your] faith 4102, knowing 3609a that the same 846 experiences 3588 of suffering 3804 are being accomplished 2005 by your brethren 81 who are in the world 2889.

 5:10 After you have suffered 3958 for a little 3641 while 3641, the God 2316 of all 3956 grace 5485, who called 2564 you to His eternal 166 glory 1391 in Christ 5547, will Himself 846 perfect 2675, confirm 4741, strengthen 4599 [and] establish 2311 you.

 5:11 To Him [be] dominion 2904 forever 165 and ever 165. Amen 281.

 5:12 ¶ Through 1223 Silvanus 4610, our faithful 4103 brother 80 (for so 5613 I regard 3049 [him]), I have written 1125 to you briefly 3641, exhorting 3870 and testifying 1957 that this 3778 is the true 227 grace 5485 of God 2316. Stand 2476 firm 2476 in it!

 5:13 She who is in Babylon 897, chosen 4899 together 4899 with you, sends 782 you greetings 782, and [so does] my son 5207, Mark 3138.

 5:14 Greet 782 one 240 another 240 with a kiss 5370 of love 26. ¶ Peace 1515 be to you all 3956 who 3588 are in Christ 5547.
