1 Peter 4

1 He exhorteth them to cease from sin by the example of Christ, and the consideration of the general end that now approacheth: 12 and comforteth them against persecution.

 4:1 Therefore 3767, since Christ 5547 has suffered 3958 in the flesh 4561, arm 3695 yourselves also 2532 with the same 846 purpose 1771, because 3754 he who has suffered 3958 in the flesh 4561 has ceased 3973 from sin 266,

 4:2 so 1519 as to live 980 the rest 1954 of the time 5550 in the flesh 4561 no 3371 longer 3371 for the lusts 1939 of men 444, but for the will 2307 of God 2316.

 4:3 For the time 5550 already past 3928 is sufficient 713 [for you] to have carried 2716 out the desire 1013 of the Gentiles 1484, having pursued 4198 a course 4198 of sensuality 766, lusts 1939, drunkenness 3632, carousing 2970, drinking 4224 parties 4224 and abominable 111 idolatries 1495.

 4:4 In [all] this 3739, they are surprised 3579 that you do not run 4936 with [them] into the same 846 excesses 401 of dissipation 810, and they malign 987 [you];

 4:5 but they will give 591 account 3056 to Him who is ready 2093 to judge 2919 the living 2198 and the dead 3498.

 4:6 For the gospel 2097 has for this 3778 purpose been preached 2097 even 2532 to those who are dead 3498, that though 3303a they are judged 2919 in the flesh 4561 as men 444, they may live 2198 in the spirit 4151 according 2596 to [the will of] God 2316.

 4:7 ¶ The end 5056 of all 3956 things 3956 is near 1448; therefore 3767, be of sound 4993 judgment 4993 and sober 3525 [spirit] for the purpose of prayer 4335.

 4:8 Above 4253 all 3956, keep 2192 fervent 1618 in your love 26 for one 1438 another 1438, because 3754 love 26 covers 2572 a multitude 4128 of sins 266.

 4:9 Be hospitable 5382 to one 240 another 240 without 427 complaint 1112.

 4:10 As each 1538 one 1538 has received 2983 a [special] gift 5486, employ 1247 it in serving 1247 one 1438 another 1438 as good 2570 stewards 3623 of the manifold 4164 grace 5485 of God 2316.

 4:11 Whoever 1487 5100 speaks 2980, [is to do so] as one 5613 who is speaking 2980 the utterances 3051 of God 2316; whoever 1487 5100 serves 1247 [is to do so] as one 5613 who is serving 1247 by the strength 2479 which 3739 God 2316 supplies 5524; so 2443 that in all 3956 things 3956 God 2316 may be glorified 1392 through 1223 Jesus 2424 Christ 5547, to whom 3739 belongs 1510 the glory 1391 and dominion 2904 forever 165 and ever 165.  4:12 ¶ Beloved 27, do not be surprised 3579 at the fiery 4451 ordeal 4451 among 1722 you, which comes 1096 upon you for your testing 3986, as though 5613 some strange 3581 thing 3581 were happening 4819 to you;

 4:13 but to the degree 2526 that you share 2841 the sufferings 3804 of Christ 5547, keep on rejoicing 5463, so 2443 that also 2532 at the revelation 602 of His glory 1391 you may rejoice 5463 with exultation 21.

 4:14 If 1487 you are reviled 3679 for the name 3686 of Christ 5547, you are blessed 3107, because 3754 the Spirit 4151 of glory 1391 and of God 2316 rests 373 on you.

 4:15 Make 3361 sure that none 5100 3361 of you suffers 3958 as a murderer 5406, or 2228 thief 2812, or 2228 evildoer 2555, or 2228 a troublesome 244 meddler 244;

 4:16 but if 1487 [anyone suffers] as a Christian 5546, he is not to be ashamed 153, but is to glorify 1392 God 2316 in this 3778 name 3686.

 4:17 For [it is] time 2540 for judgment 2917 to begin 757 with the household 3624 of God 2316; and if 1487 [it] [begins] with us first 4413, what 5101 [will be] the outcome 5056 for those 3588 who do 544 not obey 544 the gospel 2098 of God 2316?

 4:18 AND IF 1487 IT IS WITH DIFFICULTY 3433 THAT THE RIGHTEOUS 1342 IS SAVED 4982, WHAT 4226 WILL BECOME 5316 OF THE GODLESS 765 MAN 765 AND THE SINNER 268?

 4:19 Therefore 5620, those 3588 also 2532 who suffer 3958 according 2596 to the will 2307 of God 2316 shall entrust 3908 their souls 5590 to a faithful 4103 Creator 2939 in doing 16 what 16 is right 16.
