Upon this Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou release this man, thou art not Caesar's friend: every one that maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar.

And fromª thenceforthª Pilateª soughtª° to releaseª° him:ª butª the¹ Jewsª cried out,ª° saying,ª° Ifª thou let²° this man² go,ª°¹ thou artª° notª Caesar'sª friend:ª whosoeverª makethª° himself²¹ a kingª speaketh againstª° Caesar.ª

And fromª thenceforeª Pilateª soughtª° to releaseª° him:ª butª the¹ Iewesª cried out,ª° saying,ª° Ifª thou let²° this man² goe,ª°¹ thou artª° notª Cesarsª friend:ª whosoeuerª makethª° himselfe²¹ a king,ª speaketh againstª° Cesar.ª

On this account Pilatos willed to release him: but the Jihudoyee cried out, If this (man) thou releasest, thou art not the friend of Cesar: for whosoever maketh himself a king is the adversary of Cesar.

And for this reason, Pilate was disposed to release him. But the Jews cried out: If thou release this man, thou art not Caesar's friend: for whoever maketh himself a king, is the adversary of Caesar.

ἐκ τούτου ὁ Πειλᾶτος ἐζήτει ἀπολῦσαι αὐτόν: οἱ δὲ Ἰουδαῖοι ἐκραύγασαν λέγοντες Ἐὰν τοῦτον ἀπολύσῃς, οὐκ εἶ φίλος τοῦ Καίσαρος: πᾶς ὁ βασιλέα ἑαυτὸν ποιῶν ἀντιλέγει τῷ Καίσαρι.
