Then he took his eldest son that should have reigned in his stead, and offered him for a burnt-offering upon the wall. And there was great wrath against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to their own land.

Then he tookª°¹ his eldestª sonª that¹ should have reignedª° in his stead,¹ and offeredª° him [for] a burnt offeringª upon¹ the wall.ª And there was¹ greatª indignationª against¹ Israel:ª and they departedª° from¹¹ him, and returnedª° to [their own] land.ª
