Now when Saul had taken the kingdom over Israel, he fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines: and whithersoever he turned himself, he put [them] to the worse.

So Saulª tookª° the kingdomª over¹ Israel,ª and foughtª° against all¹ his enemiesª° on every side,ª against Moab,ª and against the childrenª of Ammon,ª and against Edom,ª and against the kingsª of Zobah,ª and against the Philistines:ª and whithersoever¹¹ he turnedª° himself, he vexedª° [them].

So Saulª tookeª° the kingdomª ouer¹ Israel,ª and foughtª° against all¹ his enemiesª° on euery side,ª against Moab,ª and against the childrenª of Ammon,ª and against Edom,ª and against the kingsª of Zobah,ª and against the Philistines:ª and whithersoeuer¹¹ hee turnedª° himselfe, he vexedª° [them].

And Saul received the kingdom, by lot he inherits the office [of ruling] over Israel: and he fought against all his enemies round about, against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against the children of Edom, and against Baethaeor, and against the king of Zobah{gr.Suba}, and against the Philistines: whithersoever he turned, he was victorious.

So Šä´ûl שָׁאוּלª tookª° the kingdomª over¹ Yiŝrä´ël יִשׂרָאֵל,ª and foughtª° against all¹ his enemiesª° on every side,ª against Mô´äv מוֹאָב,ª and against the childrenª of `Ammôn עַמּוֹן,ª and against ´Éđôm אֱדוֹם,ª and against the kingsª of Xôvà צוֹבָה,ª and against the Pælištîm פְּלִשׁתִּים:ª and whithersoever¹¹ he turnedª° himself, he vexedª° [them].
