and he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the birth-stool; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him; but if it be a daughter, then she shall live.

And he said,ª° When ye do the office of a midwifeª° to¹ the Hebrew women,ª and seeª° [them] upon¹ the stools;ª if¹ it¹ [be] a son,ª then ye shall killª° him: but if¹ it¹ [be] a daughter,ª then she shall live.ª°

And he said,ª° When ye do the office of a midwifeª° to¹ the Hebrew-women,ª and seeª° them vpon¹ the stooles,ª if¹ it¹ be a sonne,ª then ye shall killª° him: but if¹ it¹ be a daughter,ª then shee shall liue.ª°

And he said, When ye do the office of midwives to the Hebrew women, and they are about to be delivered, if it be a male, kill it; but if a female, save it.

And he said,ª° When ye do the office of a midwifeª° to¹ the `Ivrî עִברִי women,ª and seeª° [them] upon¹ the stools;ª if¹ it¹ [be] a son,ª then ye shall killª° him: but if¹ it¹ [be] a daughter,ª then she shall live.ª°
