And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians: wherefore the name of it was called Abel-mizraim, which is beyond the Jordan.

And when the inhabitantsª° of the land,ª the Canaanites,ª sawª°¹ the mourningª in the floorª of Atad,ª they said,ª° This¹ [is] a grievousª mourningª to the Egyptians:ª wherefore¹¹ the name¹ of it² was calledª° Abelmizraim,ª which¹ [is] beyondª Jordan.ª

And when the inhabitantsª° of the land,ª the Canaanitesª saweª°¹ the mourningª in the flooreª of Atad,ª they saide,ª° This¹ is a grieuousª mourningª to the Egyptians:ª wherfore¹¹ the name¹ of it² was called,ª° Abel Mizraim,ª which¹ is beyondª Iordan.ª

And the inhabitants of the land of Canaan{gr.Chanaan} saw the mourning at the floor of Atad, and said, This is a great mourning to the Mizraimites{gr.Egyptians}; therefore he called its name, The mourning of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}, which is beyond Jordan.

And when the inhabitantsª° of the land,ª the Cæna`ánîm כְּנַעֲנִים,ª sawª°¹ the mourningª in the floorª of ´Äţäđ אָטָד,ª they said,ª° This¹ [is] a grievousª mourningª to the Mixrîm מִצרִים:ª wherefore¹¹ the name¹ of it² was calledª° ´Ävël Mixrayim אָבֵל־מִצרַיִם,ª which¹ [is] beyondª Yardën יַרדֵּן.ª
