Proverbs 25

1 Observations about kings, 8 and about avoiding of quarrels, and sundry causes thereof.

 25:2 ¶ It is the glory 3519b of God 430 to conceal 5641 a matter 1697, But the glory 3519b of kings 4428 is to search 2713 out a matter 1697.

 25:3 [As] the heavens 8064 for height 7312 and the earth 776 for depth 6011, So the heart 3820 of kings 4428 is unsearchable 369 2714.

 25:4 Take 1898 away 1898 the dross 5509 from the silver 3701, And there comes 3318 out a vessel 3627 for the smith 6884;

 25:5 Take 1898 away 1898 the wicked 7563 before 6440 the king 4428, And his throne 3678 will be established 3559 in righteousness 6664.

 25:6 Do not claim 1921 honor 1921 in the presence 6440 of the king 4428, And do not stand 5975 in the place 4725 of great 1419 men 1419;

 25:7 For it is better 2896a that it be said 559 to you, “Come 5927 up here 2008,” Than 4480 for you to be placed 8213 lower 8213 in the presence 6440 of the prince 5081, Whom 834 your eyes 5869 have seen 7200.

 25:8 ¶ Do not go 3318 out hastily 4118b to argue 7378 [your case]; Otherwise 6435, what 4100 will you do 6213a in the end 319, When your neighbor 7453 humiliates 3637 you?

 25:9 Argue 7378 your case 7379 with your neighbor 7453, And do not reveal 1540 the secret 5475 of another 312,

 25:10 Or 6435 he who hears 8085 [it] will reproach 2616b you, And the evil 1681 report 1681 about you will not pass 7725 away 7725.

 25:11 ¶ [Like] apples 8598 of gold 2091 in settings 4906 of silver 3701 Is a word 1697 spoken 1696 in right circumstances 655.

 25:12 [Like] an earring 5141 of gold 2091 and an ornament 2481 of fine 3800 gold 3800 Is a wise 2450 reprover 3198 to a listening 8085 ear 241.

 25:13 Like the cold 6793b of snow 7950 in the time 3117 of harvest 7105a Is a faithful 539 messenger 6735a to those who send 7971 him, For he refreshes 7725 the soul 5315 of his masters 113.

 25:14 [Like] clouds 5387b and wind 7307 without 369 rain 1653 Is a man 376 who boasts 1984b of his gifts 4991 falsely 8267.

 25:15 By forbearance 753 639 a ruler 7101 may be persuaded 6601b, And a soft 7390 tongue 3956 breaks 7665 the bone 1634.

 25:16 Have you found 4672 honey 1706? Eat 398 [only] what 1767 you need 1767, That you not have 7646 it in excess 7646 and vomit 7006a it.

 25:17 Let your foot 7272 rarely 3365 be in your neighbor’s 7453 house 1004, Or 6435 he will become 7646 weary 7646 of you and hate 8130 you.

 25:18 [Like] a club 4650 and a sword 2719 and a sharp 8150 arrow 2671 Is a man 376 who bears 6030a false 8267 witness 5707 against his neighbor 7453.

 25:19 [Like] a bad 7489b tooth 8127 and an unsteady 4571 foot 7272 Is confidence 4009 in a faithless 898 man in time 3117 of trouble 6869a.

 25:20 [Like] one who takes 5710a off 5710a a garment 899b on a cold 7135 day 3117, [or like] vinegar 2558 on soda 5427, Is he who sings 7891 songs 7892a to a troubled 7451a heart 3820.

 25:21 If 518 your enemy 8130 is hungry 7457, give 398 him food 3899 to eat 398; And if 518 he is thirsty 6771, give 8248 him water 4325 to drink 8248;

 25:22 For you will heap 2846 burning coals 1513 on his head 7218, And the LORD 3068 will reward 7999a you.

 25:23 The north 6828 wind 7307 brings 2342a forth 2342a rain 1653, And a backbiting 5643a tongue 3956, an angry 2194 countenance 6440.

 25:24 It is better 2896a to live 3427 in a corner 6438 of the roof 1406 Than 4480 in a house 1004 shared 2267 with a contentious 4066 woman 802.

 25:25 [Like] cold 7119 water 4325 to a weary 5889 soul 5315, So is good 2896a news 8052 from a distant 4801 land 776.

 25:26 [Like] a trampled 7511 spring 4599 and a polluted 7843 well 4726 Is a righteous 6662 man 6662 who gives 4131 way 4131 before 6440 the wicked 7563.

 25:27 It is not good 2896a to eat 398 much 7235a honey 1706, Nor 3808 is it glory 3519b to search 2714 out one’s own glory 3519b.

 25:28 [Like] a city 5892b that is broken 6555 into [and] without 369 walls 2346 Is a man 376 who 834 has 369 no 369 control 4623 over his spirit 7307.
