Proverbs 17

1 From this chapter to the five and twentieth are sundry observations of moral virtues, and their contrary vices.

 17:9 He who conceals 3680 a transgression 6588 seeks 1245 love 160, But he who repeats 8138 a matter 1697 separates 6504 intimate 441a friends 441a.

 17:10 A rebuke 1606 goes 5181 deeper 5181 into one who has 995 understanding 995 Than 4480 a hundred 3967 blows 5221 into a fool 3684.

 17:11 A rebellious 4805 man 4805 seeks 1245 only 389 evil 7451b, So a cruel 394 messenger 4397 will be sent 7971 against him.

 17:12 Let a man 376 meet 6298 a bear 1677 robbed 7909b of her cubs 7909b, Rather 408 than a fool 3684 in his folly 200.

 17:15 He who justifies 6663 the wicked 7563 and he who condemns 7561 the righteous 6662, Both 1571 8147 of them alike 1571 are an abomination 8441 to the LORD 3068.

 17:16 Why 4100 2088 is there a price 4242 in the hand 3027 of a fool 3684 to buy 7069 wisdom 2451, When he has 369 no 369 sense 3820?

 17:17 A friend 7453 loves 157 at all 3605 times 6256, And a brother 251 is born 3205 for adversity 7463a.

 17:19 He who loves 157 transgression 6588 loves 157 strife 4683; He who raises 1361b his door 6607 seeks 1245 destruction 7667.

 17:20 He who 6141 has 6141 a crooked 6141 mind 3820 finds 4672 no 3808 good 2896b, And he who is perverted 2015 in his language 3956 falls 5307 into evil 7463a.

 17:21 He who sires 3205 a fool 3684 [does so] to his sorrow 8424, And the father 1 of a fool 5036 has 8055 no 3808 joy 8055.

 17:27 He who restrains 2820 his words 561 has 3045 knowledge 1847, And he who 7119 has a cool 7119 spirit 7307 is a man 376 of understanding 8394.

 17:28 Even 1571 a fool 191, when he keeps 2790b silent 2790b, is considered 2803 wise 2450; When he closes 331 his lips 8193, he is [considered] prudent 995.
