Haggai 2

1 He encourageth the people to the work, by promise of greater glory to the second Temple than was in the first. 10 In the type of holy things and unclean, he sheweth their sins hindered the work. 20 God's promise to Zerubbabel.

 2:1 On the twenty-first 6242 259 of the seventh 7637 month 2320, the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 came 1961 by Haggai 2292a the prophet 5030 saying 559,

 2:2 “Speak 559 now 4994 to Zerubbabel 2216 the son 1121 of Shealtiel 8032b, governor 6346 of Judah 3063, and to Joshua 3091 the son 1121 of Jehozadak 3087, the high 1419 priest 3548, and to the remnant 7611 of the people 5971a saying 559,

 2:3 ‘Who 4310 is left 7604 among you who 834 saw 7200 this 2088 temple 1004 in its former 7223 glory 3519b? And how 4100 do you see 7200 it now 6258? Does it not seem 5869 to you like nothing 369 in comparison 3644?

 2:4 ‘But now 6258 take 2388 courage 2388, Zerubbabel 2216,’ declares 5002 the LORD 3068, ‘take 2388 courage 2388 also, Joshua 3091 son 1121 of Jehozadak 3087, the high 1419 priest 3548, and all 3605 you people 5971a of the land 776 take 2388 courage 2388,’ declares 5002 the LORD 3068, ‘and work 6213a; for I am with you,’ declares 5002 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635.

 2:5 ‘As for the promise 1697 which 834 I made 3772 you when you came 3318 out of Egypt 4714, My Spirit 7307 is abiding 5975 in your midst 8432; do not fear 3372a!’

 2:6 “For thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, ‘Once 259 more 5750 in a little 4592 while 4592, I am going to shake 7493 the heavens 8064 and the earth 776, the sea 3220 also and the dry 2724 land 2724.

 2:7 ‘I will shake 7493 all 3605 the nations 1471; and they will come 935 with the wealth 2532 of all 3605 nations 1471, and I will fill 4390 this 2088 house 1004 with glory 3519b,’ says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635.

 2:8 ‘The silver 3701 is Mine and the gold 2091 is Mine,’ declares 5002 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635.

 2:9 ‘The latter 314 glory 3519b of this 2088 house 1004 will be greater 1419 than 4480 the former 7223,’ says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, ‘and in this 2088 place 4725 I will give 5414 peace 7965,’ declares 5002 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635.”

 2:10 ¶ On the twenty-fourth 6242 702 of the ninth 8671 [month], in the second 8147 year 8141 of Darius 1867, the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 came 1961 to Haggai 2292a the prophet 5030, saying 559,

 2:11 “Thus 3541 says 559 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, ‘Ask 7592 now 4994 the priests 3548 [for] a ruling 8451:

 2:12 ‘If 2005 a man 376 carries 5375 holy 6944 meat 1320 in the fold 3671 of his garment 899b, and touches 5060 bread 3899 with this fold 3671, or cooked 5138 food 5138, wine 3196, oil 8081, or any 3605 [other] food 3978, will it become 6942 holy 6942?’” And the priests 3548 answered 6030a, “No 3808.”

 2:13 Then Haggai 2292a said 559, “If 518 one who is unclean 2931 from a corpse 5315 touches 5060 any 3605 of these 428, will [the latter] become 2930 unclean 2930?” And the priests 3548 answered 6030a, “It will become 2930 unclean 2930.”

 2:14 Then Haggai 2292a said 559, “ ‘So 3651 is this 2088 people 5971a. And so 3651 is this 2088 nation 1471 before 6440 Me,’ declares 5002 the LORD 3068, ‘and so 3651 is every 3605 work 4639 of their hands 3027; and what 834 they offer 7126 there 8033 is unclean 2931.

 2:15 ‘But now 6258, do consider 7760 3824 from this 2088 day 3117 onward 4605: before 4480 2962 one stone 68 was placed 7760 on another 68 in the temple 1964 of the LORD 3068,

 2:16 from that time 1961 [when] one came 935 to a [grain] heap 6194 of twenty 6242 [measures], there would be only ten 6235; and [when] one came 935 to the wine 3342 vat 3342 to draw 2834 fifty 2572 measures 6333b, there would be [only] twenty 6242.

 2:17 ‘I smote 5221 you [and] every 3605 work 4639 of your hands 3027 with blasting 7711b wind 7711b, mildew 3420 and hail 1259; yet you [did] not [come back] to Me,’ declares 5002 the LORD 3068.

 2:18 ‘Do consider 7760 3824 from this 2088 day 3117 onward 4605, from the twenty-fourth 6242 702 day 3117 of the ninth 8671 [month]; from the day 3117 when 834 the temple 1964 of the LORD 3068 was founded 3245, consider 7760 3824:

 2:19 ‘Is the seed 2233 still 5750 in the barn 4035? Even 5704 including 5704 the vine 1612, the fig 8384 tree 8384, the pomegranate 7416 and the olive 2132 tree 6086, it has not borne 5375 [fruit]. Yet from this 2088 day 3117 on I will bless 1288 [you].’”

 2:20 ¶ Then the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 came 1961 a second 8145 time 8145 to Haggai 2292a on the twenty-fourth 6242 702 [day] of the month 2320, saying 559,

 2:21 “Speak 559 to Zerubbabel 2216 governor 6346 of Judah 3063, saying 559, ‘I am going to shake 7493 the heavens 8064 and the earth 776.

 2:22 ‘I will overthrow 2015 the thrones 3678 of kingdoms 4467 and destroy 8045 the power 2392 of the kingdoms 4467 of the nations 1471; and I will overthrow 2015 the chariots 4818 and their riders 7392, and the horses 5483b and their riders 7392 will go 3381 down 3381, everyone 376 by the sword 2719 of another 251.’

 2:23 ‘On that day 3117,’ declares 5002 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635, ‘I will take 3947 you, Zerubbabel 2216, son 1121 of Shealtiel 7597, My servant 5650,’ declares 5002 the LORD 3068, ‘and I will make 7760 you like a signet 2368 [ring], for I have chosen 977 you,’” declares 5002 the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635.
