Daniel 4

1 Nebuchadnezzar confesseth God's Kingdom, 4 maketh relation of his dreams, which the magicians could not interpret. 8 Daniel heareth the dream. 19 He interpreteth it. 28 The story of the event.

 4:1 Nebuchadnezzar 5020 the king 4430 to all 3606 the peoples 5972, nations 524, and [men of every] language 3961 that live 1753 in all 3606 the earth 772: “May your peace 8001 abound 7680!

 4:2 “It has seemed 8232 good 8232 to me to declare 2331b the signs 852 and wonders 8540 which 1768 the Most 5943 High 5943 God 426 has done 5648 for me.

 4:3 “How 4101 great 7229 are His signs 852 And how 4101 mighty 8624 are His wonders 8540! His kingdom 4437 is an everlasting 5957 kingdom 4437 And His dominion 7985 is from generation 1859 to generation 1859.

 4:4 ¶ “I, Nebuchadnezzar 5020, was at ease 7954 in my house 1005 and flourishing 7487b in my palace 1965.

 4:5 “I saw 2370 a dream 2493 and it made 1763 me fearful 1763; and [these] fantasies 2031 [as I lay] on my bed 4903 and the visions 2376 in my mind 7217 kept 927 alarming 927 me.

 4:6 “So I gave 7761 orders 2942 to bring 5954 into my presence 6925 all 3606 the wise 2445 men 2445 of Babylon 895, that they might make 3046 known 3046 to me the interpretation 6591 of the dream 2493.

 4:7 “Then 116 the magicians 2749, the conjurers 826, the Chaldeans 3779 and the diviners 1505 came 5954 in and I related 560 the dream 2493 to them, but they could not make 3046 its interpretation 6591 known 3046 to me.

 4:8 “But finally 318b Daniel 1841 came 5954 in before 6925 me, whose 1768 name 8036 is Belteshazzar 1096 according to the name 8036 of my god 426, and in whom 1768 is a spirit 7308 of the holy 6922 gods 426; and I related 560 the dream 2493 to him, [saying],

 4:9 ‘O Belteshazzar 1096, chief 7229 of the magicians 2749, since 1768 I know 3046 that a spirit 7308 of the holy 6922 gods 426 is in you and no 3606 3809 mystery 7328 baffles 598 you, tell 560 [me] the visions 2376 of my dream 2493 which 1768 I have seen 2370, along with its interpretation 6591.

 4:10 ¶ ‘Now [these were] the visions 2376 in my mind 7217 [as I lay] on my bed 4903: I was looking 2370, and behold 431, [there was] a tree 363 in the midst 1459 of the earth 772 and its height 7314 [was] great 7690.

 4:11 ‘The tree 363 grew 7236 large 7236 and became 8631 strong 8631 And its height 7314 reached 4291 to the sky 8065, And it [was] visible 2379 to the end 5491 of the whole 3606 earth 772.

 4:12 ‘Its foliage 6074a [was] beautiful 8209 and its fruit 4 abundant 7690, And in it [was] food 4203 for all 3606. The beasts 2423 of the field 1251 found 2927 shade 2927 under 8460 it, And the birds 6853 of the sky 8065 dwelt 1753 in its branches 6056, And all 3606 living 1321 creatures 1321 fed 2110 themselves from it.

 4:13 ¶ ‘I was looking 2370 in the visions 2376 in my mind 7217 [as I lay] on my bed 4903, and behold 431, an [angelic] watcher 5894, a holy 6922 one 6922, descended 5182 from heaven 8065.

 4:14 ‘He shouted 7123 out and spoke 560 as follows 3652: “Chop 1414 down 1414 the tree 363 and cut 7113 off 7113 its branches 6056, Strip 5426 off 5426 its foliage 6074a and scatter 921 its fruit 4; Let the beasts 2423 flee 5111 from under 8460 it And the birds 6853 from its branches 6056.

 4:15 “Yet 1297 leave 7662 the stump 6136a with its roots 8330 in the ground 772, But with a band 613 of iron 6523 and bronze 5174 [around it] In the new 1883 grass 1883 of the field 1251; And let him be drenched 6647 with the dew 2920 of heaven 8065, And let him share 2508 with the beasts 2423 in the grass 6212b of the earth 772.

 4:16 “Let his mind 3825 be changed 8133 from [that of] a man 606 And let a beast’s 2423 mind 3825 be given 3052 to him, And let seven 7655 periods of time 5732 pass 2499 over 5922 him.

 4:17 “This sentence 6600 is by the decree 1510 of the [angelic] watchers 5894 And the decision 7595 is a command 3983 of the holy 6922 ones 6922, In order 5705 1701 that the living 2417 may know 3046 That the Most 5943 High 5943 is ruler 7990 over the realm 4437 of mankind 606, And bestows 5415 it on whom 1768 4479 He wishes 6634 And sets 6966 over 5922 it the lowliest 8215 of men 606.”

 4:18 ‘This 1836 is the dream 2493 [which] I, King 4430 Nebuchadnezzar 5020, have seen 2370. Now you, Belteshazzar 1096, tell 560 [me] its interpretation 6591, inasmuch 3606 6903 1768 as none 3606 3809 of the wise 2445 men 2445 of my kingdom 4437 is able 3202 to make 3046 known 3046 to me the interpretation 6591; but you are able 3546, for a spirit 7308 of the holy 6922 gods 426 is in you.’

 4:19 ¶ “Then 116 Daniel 1841, whose 1768 name 8036 is Belteshazzar 1096, was appalled 8075 for a while 8160 as his thoughts 7476 alarmed 927 him. The king 4430 responded 6032 and said 560, ‘Belteshazzar 1096, do not let the dream 2493 or its interpretation 6591 alarm 927 you.’ Belteshazzar 1096 replied 6032, ‘My lord 4756, [if only] the dream 2493 applied to those who hate 8131 you and its interpretation 6591 to your adversaries 6146!

 4:20 ‘The tree 363 that you saw 2370, which 1768 became 7236 large 7236 and grew 8631 strong 8631, whose height 7314 reached 4291 to the sky 8065 and was visible 2379 to all 3606 the earth 772

 4:21 and whose foliage 6074a [was] beautiful 8209 and its fruit 4 abundant 7690, and in which [was] food 4203 for all 3606, under 8460 which the beasts 2423 of the field 1251 dwelt 1753 and in whose branches 6056 the birds 6853 of the sky 8065 lodged 7932—

 4:22 it is you, O king 4430; for you have become 7236 great 7236 and grown 8631 strong 8631, and your majesty 7238 has become 7236 great 7236 and reached 4291 to the sky 8065 and your dominion 7985 to the end 5491 of the earth 772.

 4:23 ‘In that the king 4430 saw 2370 an [angelic] watcher 5894, a holy 6922 one 6922, descending 5182 from heaven 8065 and saying 560, “Chop 1414 down 1414 the tree 363 and destroy 2255 it; yet 1297 leave 7662 the stump 6136a with its roots 8330 in the ground 772, but with a band 613 of iron 6523 and bronze 5174 [around it] in the new 1883 grass 1883 of the field 1251, and let him be drenched 6647 with the dew 2920 of heaven 8065, and let him share 2508 with the beasts 2423 of the field 1251 until 5705 1768 seven 7655 periods of time 5732 pass 2499 over 5922 him,”

 4:24 this 1836 is the interpretation 6591, O king 4430, and this 1932 is the decree 1510 of the Most 5943 High 5943, which 1768 has come 4291 upon my lord 4756 the king 4430:

 4:25 that you be driven 2957 away 2957 from mankind 606 and your dwelling 4070 place 4070 be with the beasts 2423 of the field 1251, and you be given 2939 grass 6212b to eat 2939 like cattle 8450 and be drenched 6647 with the dew 2920 of heaven 8065; and seven 7655 periods of time 5732 will pass 2499 over 5922 you, until 5705 1768 you recognize 3046 that the Most 5943 High 5943 is ruler 7990 over the realm 4437 of mankind 606 and bestows 5415 it on whomever 4479 1768 He wishes 6634.

 4:26 ‘And in that it was commanded 560 to leave 7662 the stump 6136a with the roots 8330 of the tree 363, your kingdom 4437 will be assured 7011 to you after 4481 1768 you recognize 3046 that [it is] Heaven 8065 [that] rules 7990.

 4:27 ‘Therefore 3861a, O king 4430, may my advice 4431 be pleasing 8232 to you: break 6562 away 6562 now from your sins 2408 by [doing] righteousness 6665 and from your iniquities 5758 by showing 2604 mercy 2604 to [the] poor 6040b, in case 2006 there may be a prolonging 754 of your prosperity 7963.’

 4:28 ¶ “All 3606 [this] happened 4291 to Nebuchadnezzar 5020 the king 4430.

 4:29 “Twelve 8648 6236 months 3393 later 7118 he was walking 1981 on the [roof of] the royal 4437 palace 1965 of Babylon 895.

 4:30 “The king 4430 reflected 6032 and said 560, ‘Is this 1668 not Babylon 895 the great 7229, which 1768 I myself 576 have built 1124 as a royal 4437 residence 1005 by the might 8632a of my power 2632 and for the glory 3367 of my majesty 1923?’

 4:31 “While 5751 the word 4406 [was] in the king’s 4430 mouth 6433, a voice 7032a came 5308 from heaven 8065, [saying], ‘King 4430 Nebuchadnezzar 5020, to you it is declared 560: sovereignty 4437 has been 5709 removed 5709 from you,

 4:32 and you will be driven 2957 away 2957 from mankind 606, and your dwelling 4070 place 4070 [will be] with the beasts 2423 of the field 1251. You will be given 2939 grass 6212b to eat 2939 like cattle 8450, and seven 7655 periods of time 5732 will pass 2499 over 5922 you until 5705 1768 you recognize 3046 that the Most 5943 High 5943 is ruler 7990 over the realm 4437 of mankind 606 and bestows 5415 it on whomever 4479 1768 He wishes 6634.’

 4:33 “Immediately 8160 the word 4406 concerning 5922 Nebuchadnezzar 5020 was fulfilled 5487; and he was driven 2957 away 2957 from mankind 606 and began eating 399 grass 6212b like cattle 8450, and his body 1655 was drenched 6647 with the dew 2920 of heaven 8065 until 5705 1768 his hair 8177 had grown 7236 like eagles’ 5403 [feathers] and his nails 2953 like birds’ 6853 [claws].

 4:34 ¶ “But at the end 7118 of that period 3118, I, Nebuchadnezzar 5020, raised 5191 my eyes 5870a toward heaven 8065 and my reason 4486 returned 8421 to me, and I blessed 1289 the Most 5943 High 5943 and praised 7624 and honored 1922 Him who 2417 lives 2417 forever 5957; For His dominion 7985 is an everlasting 5957 dominion 7985, And His kingdom 4437 [endures] from generation 1859 to generation 1859.

 4:35 “All 3606 the inhabitants 1753 of the earth 772 are accounted 2804 as nothing 3809, But He does 5648 according 4481 to His will 6634 in the host 2429 of heaven 8065 And [among] the inhabitants 1753 of earth 772; And no 3809 one can ward 4223 off 4223 His hand 3028 Or say 560 to Him, ‘What 4101 have You done 5648?’

 4:36 “At that time 2166 my reason 4486 returned 8421 to me. And my majesty 1923 and splendor 2122 were restored 8421 to me for the glory 3367 of my kingdom 4437, and my counselors 1907 and my nobles 7261 began seeking 1156 me out; so I was reestablished 8627 in my sovereignty 4437, and surpassing 3493 greatness 7238 was added 3255 to me.

 4:37 “Now 3705 I, Nebuchadnezzar 5020, praise 7624, exalt 7313 and honor 1922 the King 4430 of heaven 8065, for all 3606 His works 4567 are true 7187 and His ways 735 just 1780, and He is able 3202 to humble 8214 those who 1768 walk 1981 in pride 1467.”
