1 Timothy 6

1 Of the duty of servants. 3 Not to have fellowship with newfangled teachers. 6 Godliness is great gain, 10 and love of money the root of all evil. 11 What Timothy is to flee, and what to follow, 17 and wherefore to admonish the rich. 20 To keep the purity of true doctrine, and to avoid profane janglings.

 6:1 All 3745 who 3745 are under 5259 the yoke 2218 as slaves 1401 are to regard 2233 their own 2398 masters 1203 as worthy 514 of all 3956 honor 5092 so 2443 that the name 3686 of God 2316 and [our] doctrine 1319 will not be spoken 987 against 987.

 6:2 Those 3588 who have 2192 believers 4103 as their masters 1203 must not be disrespectful 2706 to them because 3754 they are brethren 80, but must serve 1398 them all 3123 the more 3123, because 3754 those 3588 who partake 482 of the benefit 2108 are believers 4103 and beloved 27. Teach 1321 and preach 3870 these 3778 [principles].

 6:3 ¶ If 1487 anyone 5100 advocates 2085 a different 2085 doctrine 2085 and does not agree 4334 with sound 5198 words 3056, those 3588 of our Lord 2962 Jesus 2424 Christ 5547, and with the doctrine 1319 conforming 2596 to godliness 2150,

 6:4 he is conceited 5187 [and] understands 1987 nothing 3367; but he has 3552 a morbid 3552 interest 3552 in controversial 2214 questions 2214 and disputes 3055 about 3055 words 3055, out of which 3739 arise 1096 envy 5355, strife 2054, abusive 988 language 988, evil 4190 suspicions 5283,

 6:5 and constant 1275 friction 1275 between men 444 of depraved 1311 mind 3563 and deprived 650 of the truth 225, who suppose 3543 that godliness 2150 is a means 4200 of gain 4200.

 6:6 But godliness 2150 [actually] is a means 4200 of great 3173 gain 4200 when accompanied 3326 by contentment 841.

 6:7 For we have brought 1533 nothing 3762 into the world 2889, so 3754 we cannot 1410 3761 take 1627 anything 5100 out of it either 3761.

 6:8 If we have 2192 food 1305 and covering 4629, with these 3778 we shall be content 714.

 6:9 But those 3588 who want 1014 to get 4147 rich 4147 fall 1706 into temptation 3986 and a snare 3803 and many 4183 foolish 453 and harmful 983 desires 1939 which 3748 plunge 1036 men 444 into ruin 3639 and destruction 684.

 6:10 For the love 5365 of money 5365 is a root 4491 of all 3956 sorts of evil 2556, and some 5100 by longing 3713 for it have wandered 635 away 635 from the faith 4102 and pierced 4044 themselves 1438 with many 4183 griefs 3601.

 6:11 ¶ But flee 5343 from these 3778 things 3778, you man 444 of God 2316, and pursue 1377 righteousness 1343, godliness 2150, faith 4102, love 26, perseverance 5281 [and] gentleness 4239a.

 6:12 Fight 75 the good 2570 fight 73 of faith 4102; take 1949 hold 1949 of the eternal 166 life 2222 to which 3739 you were called 2564, and you made 3670 the good 2570 confession 3671 in the presence 1799 of many 4183 witnesses 3144.

 6:13 I charge 3853 you in the presence 1799 of God 2316, who gives 2225 life 2225 to all 3956 things 3956, and of Christ 5547 Jesus 2424, who testified 3140 the good 2570 confession 3671 before 1909 Pontius 4194 Pilate 4091,

 6:14 that you keep 5083 the commandment 1785 without 784 423 stain 784 or reproach 423 until 3360 the appearing 2015 of our Lord 2962 Jesus 2424 Christ 5547,

 6:15 which 3739 He will bring 1166 about at the proper 2398 time 2540—He who is the blessed 3107 and only 3441 Sovereign 1413, the King 935 of kings 936 and Lord 2962 of lords 2961,

 6:16 who alone 3441 possesses 2192 immortality 110 and dwells 3611 in unapproachable 676 light 5457, whom 3739 no 3762 man 444 has seen 3708 or 3761 can 1410 see 3708. To Him [be] honor 5092 and eternal 166 dominion 2904! Amen 281.

 6:17 ¶ Instruct 3853 those 3588 who are rich 4145 in this 3588 present 3568 world 165 not to be conceited 5309 or 3366 to fix 1679 their hope 1679 on the uncertainty 83 of riches 4149, but on God 2316, who richly 4146 supplies 3930 us with all 3956 things 3956 to enjoy 619.

 6:18 [Instruct them] to do 14 good 14, to be rich 4147 in good 2570 works 2041, to be generous 2130 and ready 2843 to share 2843,

 6:19 storing 597 up for themselves 1438 the treasure 597 of a good 2570 foundation 2310b for the future 3195, so 2443 that they may take 1949 hold 1949 of that which is life 2222 indeed 3689.

 6:20 ¶ O 5599 Timothy 5095, guard 5442 what 3866 has been entrusted 3866 to you, avoiding 1624 worldly 952 [and] empty 2757 chatter 2757 [and] the opposing 477 arguments 477 of what 5581 is falsely 5581 called 5581 “knowledge 1108”—
