The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, [is] from Yahweh. |

Allº
the waysº
of a manº
[are] cleanº
in his own eyes;º
but
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
weighethºº
the spirits.º |
 16:2
All the ways of a man [are] clean in his own eyes; but Yahweh weigheth the spirits. |
 16:3
Commitºº
thy worksº
untoº
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,º
and thy thoughtsº
shall be established.ºº |
 16:3
Commit thy works unto Yahweh, and thy thoughts shall be established. |
 16:4

hath madeºº
allº
[things] for himself:º
yea, evenº
the wickedº
for the dayº
of evil.º |
 16:4
Yahweh hath made all [things] for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil. |

Every oneº
[that is] proudº
in heartº
[is] an abominationº
to
Yähwè
יָהוֶה:º
[though] handº
[join] in hand,º
he shall notº
be unpunished.ºº |

Every one [that is] proud in heart [is] an abomination to Yahweh: [though] hand [join] in hand, he shall not be unpunished. |

By mercyº
and truthº
iniquityº
is purged:ºº
and by the fearº
of

from evil.ºº |

By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of Yahweh [men] depart from evil. |

When a man'sº
waysº
pleaseºº
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,º
he maketh evenº
his enemiesºº
to be at peaceºº
withº
him. |
 16:7
When a man's ways please Yahweh, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. |
 16:8
Betterº
[is] a littleº
with righteousnessº
than greatºº
revenuesº
withoutº
right.º |
 16:8
Better [is] a little with righteousness than great revenues without right. |
 16:9
A man'sº
heartº
devisethºº
his way:º
but
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
directethºº
his steps.º |
 16:9
A man's heart deviseth his way: but Yahweh directeth his steps. |
 16:10
A divine sentenceº
[is] inº
the lipsº
of the king:º
his mouthº
transgressethºº
notº
in judgment.º |
 16:10
A divine sentence [is] in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment. |

A justº
weightº
and balanceº
[are]
Yähwè's

the weightsº
of the bagº
[are] his work.º |

A just weight and balance [are] Yahweh's: all the weights of the bag [are] his work. |

[It is] an abominationº
to kingsº
to commitºº
wickedness:º
forº
the throneº
is establishedºº
by righteousness.º |
 16:12
[It is] an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness. |
 16:13
Righteousº
lipsº
[are] the delightº
of kings;º
and they loveºº
him that speakethºº
right.º |

Righteous lips [are] the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right. |
 16:14
The wrathº
of a kingº
[is as] messengersº
of death:º
but a wiseº
manº
will pacifyºº
it. |

The wrath of a king [is as] messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it. |

In the lightº
of the king'sº
countenanceº
[is] life;º
and his favourº
[is] as a cloudº
of the latter rain.º |

In the light of the king's countenance [is] life; and his favour [is] as a cloud of the latter rain. |

wisdomº
than gold!ºº
and to getºº
understandingº
rather to be chosenºº

How much better [is it] to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver! |

of the uprightº
[is] to departºº
from evil:ºº

The highway of the upright [is] to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul. |

destruction,º
and an haughtyº

Pride [goeth] before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. |

[it is to be] of an humbleº

Better [it is to be] of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. |

[is] he. |

He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in Yahweh, happy [is] he. |

The wiseº
in heartº
shall be calledºº
prudent:ºº
and the sweetnessº
of the lipsº
increasethºº
learning.º |
 16:21
The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning. |
 16:22
Understandingº
[is] a wellspringº
of lifeº
unto him that hathº
it: but the instructionº
of foolsº
[is] folly.º |
 16:22
Understanding [is] a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools [is] folly. |

The heartº
of the wiseº
teachethºº
his mouth,º
and addethºº
learningº
toº
his lips.º |

The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips. |

Pleasantº
wordsº
[are as] an honeycomb,ºº
sweetº
to the soul,º
and healthº
to the bones.º |

to angerº
[is] betterº
than the mighty;ºº
