What then is the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise hath been made; [and it was] ordained through angels by the hand of a mediator.

Whereforeª thenª [serveth] the¹ law?ª It was addedª° because¹ of² transgressions,ª tillª² the¹ seedª should comeª° to whomª the promise was made;ª° [and it was] ordainedª° byª angelsª inª the handª of a mediator.ª

Τί οὖν ὁ νόμος; τῶν παραβάσεων χάριν προσετέθη, ἄχρις ἂν ἔλθῃ τὸ σπέρμα ᾧ ἐπήγγελται, διαταγεὶς δι' ἀγγέλων ἐν χειρὶ μεσίτου:
