And he said to him also that had bidden him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, nor thy kinsmen, nor rich neighbors; lest haply they also bid thee again, and a recompense be made thee.

Thenª said¹ he²° alsoª to him that badeª° him,ª Whenª thou makestª° a dinnerª orª a supper,ª callª° notª thyª friends,ª norª thyª brethren,ª neitherª thyª kinsmen,ª norª [thy] richª neighbours;ª lestª theyª alsoª bid²° thee² again,ª°¹ andª a recompenceª be madeª° thee.ª

And he said to him who had called him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, thou shouldest not call thy friends, nor thy brethren, nor thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours, lest they also call thee, and thou have this recompence.

And he said to him that invited him: When thou makest a dinner or a supper, invite not thy friends, nor thy brothers, nor thy relatives, nor thy rich neighbors; lest they also invite thee, and thou have this recompense.

Ἔλεγεν δὲ καὶ τῷ κεκληκότι αὐτόν Ὅταν ποιῇς ἄριστον ἢ δεῖπνον, μὴ φώνει τοὺς φίλους σου μηδὲ τοὺς ἀδελφούς σου μηδὲ τοὺς συγγενεῖς σου μηδὲ γείτονας πλουσίους, μή ποτε καὶ αὐτοὶ ἀντικαλέσωσίν σε καὶ γένηται ἀνταπόδομά σοι.

It-was-forthing moreover and unto-the-one unto-having-had-come-to-call-unto to-it, Which-also-ever thou-might-do-unto to-most-good or to-mealed lest thou-should-sound-unto to-the-ones to-cared of-thee lest-moreover to-the-ones to-brethrened of-thee lest-moreover to-the-ones to-together-kindreded of-thee lest-moreover to-soil-belongers to-wealth-belonged, lest whither-also and them they-might-have-ever-a-one-called-unto to-thee and it-might-have-had-became to-an-ever-a-one-giving-off-to unto-thee,
