And those on the rock [are] they who, when they have heard, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

ª They¹ onª the¹ rockª [are they], which,ª whenª they hear,ª° receiveª° the¹ wordª withª joy;ª andª theseª haveª° noª root,ª whichª forª a whileª believe,ª° andª inª timeª of temptationª fall away.ª°

But those who fell upon the rock are those who, when they hear, with joy receive the word; yet root they have not, but for a time is their faith, and in the time of temptation they are offended.

And those upon the rock, are they who, when they hear, receive the word with joy: but they have no root in them, and their faith is temporary, and in time of temptation they are stumbled.

οἱ δὲ ἐπὶ τῆς πέτρας οἳ ὅταν ἀκούσωσιν μετὰ χαρᾶς δέχονται τὸν λόγον, καὶ οὗτοι ῥίζαν οὐκ ἔχουσιν, οἳ πρὸς καιρὸν πιστεύουσιν καὶ ἐν καιρῷ πειρασμοῦ ἀφίστανται.

The-ones moreover upon of-the-one of-a-rockiness which which-also-ever they-might-have-heard, with of-a-joy they-receive to-the-one to-a-forthee, and the-ones-these to-a-root not they-hold, which toward to-a-time they-trust-of and in unto-a-time of-a-piercing-of they-stand-off.
