And he that was sown among the thorns, this is he that heareth the word; and the care of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

He also² that received seedª°¹ amongª the¹ thornsª¹ isª° he that² hearethª° the¹ word;ª andª the¹ careª of thisª world,ª andª the¹ deceitfulnessª of riches,ª chokeª° the¹ word,ª andª he becomethª° unfruitful.ª

That sown [in] the place of thorns, is he who heareth the word, but the anxious thought of this world and the illusions of riches stifle the word in him, and he is without fruits.

ὁ δὲ εἰς τὰς ἀκάνθας σπαρείς, οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ τὸν λόγον ἀκούων καὶ ἡ μέριμνα τοῦ αἰῶνος καὶ ἡ ἀπάτη τοῦ πλούτου συνπνίγει τὸν λόγον, καὶ ἄκαρπος γίνεται.
