But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given it but the sign of Jonah the prophet:

Butª he¹ answeredª° and saidª° unto them,ª An evilª andª adulterousª generationª seeketh afterª° a sign;ª andª there shall noª signª be givenª° to it,ª butª the¹ signª of the¹ prophetª Jonas:ª

Butª hee¹ answered,ª° and saidª° to them,ª An euillª andª adulterousª generationª seeketh afterª° a signe,ª andª there shall noª signeª be giuenª° to it,ª butª the¹ signeª of the¹ Prophetª Ionas.ª

But he answered them and said, A generation depraved and adulterous requireth a sign; but a sign shall not be given to it, but the sign of Jaunon the prophet;

But he replied and said to them: A wicked and adulterous generation demandeth a sign: but a sign will not be given to it, unless it be the sign of Jonah the prophet.

ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Γενεὰ πονηρὰ καὶ μοιχαλὶς σημεῖον ἐπιζητεῖ, καὶ σημεῖον οὐ δοθήσεται αὐτῇ εἰ μὴ τὸ σημεῖον Ἰωνᾶ τοῦ προφήτου.

The-one moreover having-been-separated-off it-had-said unto-them, A-generation en-necessitated and an-adulteress to-a-signlet-of it-seeketh-upon-unto, and a-signlet-of not it-shall-be-given unto-it if lest the-one a-signlet-of of-an-Ionas of-the-one of-a-declarer-before.
