Then Johanan the son of Kareah spake to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly, saying, Let me go, I pray thee, and I will slay Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no man shall know it: wherefore should he take thy life, that all the Jews that are gathered unto thee should be scattered, and the remnant of Judah perish?

Then Iohananª the sonneª of Kareah,ª spakeª° to¹ Gedaliahª in Mizpahª secretly,ª saying,ª° Let me goe,²°¹ I pray thee,¹ and I will slayª°¹ Ishmaelª the sonneª of Nethaniah,ª and no¹ manª shall knowª° [it]. Wherefore¹ should he slayªª° thee, that all¹ the Iewes²¹ which are gatheredª° vnto¹ thee should be scattered,ª° and the remnantª in Iudahª perish?ª°

And Johanan{gr.Joanan} said to Gedaliah{gr.Godolias} secretly in Mizpeh{gr.Massepha}, I will go now and smite Ishmael{gr.Ismael}, and let no man know [it]; lest he slay thee, and all the Jews that are gathered to thee be dispersed, and the remnant of Judah{gr.Juda} perish.

Then Yôçänän יוֹחָנָןª the sonª of Kärëåç קָרֵחַª spakeª° to¹ Gæđalyà גְּדַליָהª in Mixpà מִצפָּהª secretly,ª saying,ª° Let me go,²°¹ I pray thee,¹ and I will slayª°¹ Yišmä`ë´l יִשׁמָעֵאלª the sonª of Næŧanyà נְתַניָה,ª and no¹ manª shall knowª° [it]: wherefore¹ should he slayªª° thee, that all¹ the Yæhûđîm יְהוּדִים²¹ which are gatheredª° unto¹ thee should be scattered,ª° and the remnantª in Yæhûđà יְהוּדָהª perish?ª°
